Another side note: If you have 2 batteries wired parallel and 1 of them is bad, it will drain your good battery to an equal voltage. Therefore if you are replacing a battery in a parallel system, it's best to change both at the same time.
-
A battery such as ours with multiple cells is tied together internally in a series. Each cell produces 2 volts, therefore draining all cells equally. If you have 2 batteries wired parallel you have the same voltage as 1 but drain them both equally. If you could use an example it might be easier to explain.

If you are intent on buying a new vent Bike Bandit probably carries them. I don't know about the Yamaha but they are $7 for my Hondas. Like the others have said, new vent won't fix the issue you are having.

You've been bitten...lol. I need a to build another garage since mine is full of bikes.

Call me old fashioned but I prefer to use cash for most transactions.

LOL... I think I'd rather replace a little fork oil. -
Anti-dive question

When installing the block off plates is a fork oil change necessary? PO just changed to progressives last year while changing seals and oil. -
I don't know, I think helmet and gear would probably still be a good idea;-)

Anti-dive question
Rosie1965 replied to Rosie1965's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That is my reasoning. I hooked the amprobe up yesterday and found the anti-dive units are each draining 2 amps. Not a huge amount, but 4 amps @ idle on a system like this makes a difference. I completely agree and have every intention to go that route, just wanted to try it unplugged. -
Eventually plan on buying block off plates for anti-dive. My question is this: Does just unplugging the anti-dive have the same effect or is there a side effect to doing this? Thanks Edit: Already have Progressives up front.

Probably won't use the CB much if at all. Not sure how much I'll use the radio, never had a bike with a radio. Eventually will probably remove both CB and CLASS and find something else to do with that space. Pump for CLASS was removed 2 owners ago.

Took the Venture for it's maiden ride today and was impressed. After spending the last week working bugs out of it, all went well. I found myself searching for another gear but that's out of habit. I know the nature of this beast is it likes rpm's. Acceleration was impressive for a bike this size, especially when pushing to 7k before shifting. The ride was very comfortable. It was only 50 degrees and I had a side wind gusting to 30 mph so I couldn't be too judgmental. Still need to change the thermostat and do a little polishing. Think I'm going to de-link the brakes. Personal preference, please don't flame me. Couple of questions: Does the CB antenna also work for the radio too? I was able to play the radio in the garage but was cutting in and out on road. The antenna was missing when I purchased it. Are there any external parts on the carbs that would be affected by carb cleaner? Would like to clean them up a little before re installing the plastic. Thanks, Steve

Just do it, don't let people scare you out of it. Your right hand controls how scary it gets. I've never ridden a max but my V65 is in the same category. If you want a sheer rush of adrenaline, blurry vision kind, it's the way to go.

Shirtless would just ruin my farmer's tan. Plus I don't look near as good shirtless as I did 20 years ago.

At least t-shirts and shorts.

Supposed to be 50 here tomorrow then more snow next week. If you don't like the weather in Iowa, wait a couple hours and it will change.

Couple questions

Is the tstat available at auto parts stores or is it a dealer only item? -
Couple questions

Well the valve was turned to the bypass position. I turned it to the position mentioned above and I still have flow through radiator before temp gauge comes up. When I turn the valve I don't feel any detent. Is it supposed to stop in either position? Because I can turn it a full 360 degrees. Finally got the low fuel warning to come on. Will be glad to get this old gas/stabil burned out and get some fresh gas in it. Seems to get a lean misfire occasionally. Granted this is just in the garage, not out on the open road. -

It will be tomorrow before I can check things but I appreciate the help. Just signed up to be a supporting member. -
This bike came with no owners manual and my search skills are apparently limited. I was wondering what the warning symbol directly below the side stand warning is. Maybe fuel? :confused24:Also I think I'm going to have to change the thermostat. Coolant is flowing through the radiator long before the temp gauge comes up. Then there's the battery warning mod I need to do, which I have found info on.

It's a 90. Yes it's off the trailer now...lol. I would rather ride a bike than trailer it but I'm also not going to abuse a bike by exposing it to the corrosive elements we have all over the highways here this time of year. I will be joining, just didn't want to jump the gun until I knew I was a Venture owner.
