couple videos of my first gen
Rosie1965 replied to Rosie1965's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Brenner, I enjoyed the Mac's sound but just too loud for day to day riding. I will eventually get a video of just the exhaust with a different mic location. -
I did have a video in one of the threads but after the site got reworked some things got lost. The first video is the one I had on here before. Since then I've acquired a Drift Ghost HD and filmed some riding. I have the mic tucked in my helmet. I was wanting to let people know what the RKs sound like but seems to flaunt my sound system more than anything.

Hanging out with high school friends eating ice cream when assassination attempt on Reagan occurred. Building fence in back yard on 9/11, came in house and saw first plane had hit. Thought what an odd accident. Like everyone else, didn't take long to realize it was no accident.

Relocate TCI?
Rosie1965 replied to Donvito's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
One of the first things I did when I got my VR was move my TCI. First I mounted to top of air box but had some interference with faux cover. Put it in left fairing and it's been there since with no problems. I wanted to move it before I had any problem with it. -
Road King mufflers on my '91.

I don't know for sure but I think they are the same. -
I got the first one right! Maybe that's why we had 3 kids within 4 years, I was thinking random instead of the other.

The sound quality on this video is pretty good but depends a lot on what you play it back with. My android speakers don't do it justice, but hooked to my sub sounds good. -

You will have to forgive me for not being too tech savvy but I put up a you tube video for you. 1990 Venture Royale mods: -

Ben, to get the best sound would be difficult since the rear is getting squirrlly and the front is getting light when it sounds the best. -
You timed it just right to get some nice weather for the trip home. Be safe.

I never tried the PRV without the Clarion amp. I know to hear things well going down the highway you really need to be able to push the speakers. I know there are no heat issues with the PRV when it's feeding the amp. Also no heat issues with the amp. I went with the high side on the amp inputs. I wanted to use the pre-outs from the PRV bit it's only two channel and I may add some rear speakers eventually.

Nice Jeep Caveman! My daily driver is a Cherokee XJ, love it. Rusty but trusty.

In Iowa, off road registrations are not included with road registrations. I think the riders from the more populous states just have to face the fact that they are a small minority in their states. One reason the northern states could be higher per capita is because we cherish the summer after a long, cold winter.

My factory radio would work intermittently, better when warm out. I just upgraded to modern technology instead of messing with old.

I ended up going with the amp Black wing linked to and the Kicker speakers. I went with the 2 ohm since the amp is ok with them. Also went with the JBL PRV 175 . Raining right now so can't do a road test, but holy cow does it rock the garage! Also love being able to bluetooth from my phone. http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x337/steve_roseman/Venture/0806141132a.jpg

how "fast" are these bikes
Rosie1965 replied to DeeGee's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
:rotf:DeeGee, something isn't right with your bike if it's not as quick as a 1200 Sportster. -

Syscrusher, I don't know how "fast" my VR is, I just know how "quick" it is. As I get closer to the half century mark in age I've become much more timid, or maybe it's wiser. The only mods I have are the Vmax final drive, coil over plug ignition and Road King mufflers. The first mod being the only one that should truly make any difference in performance. My Son is about 50 lbs. heavier than me and can hang right with me on his CB1100 up to about 70 mph then I start pulling away. You aren't that far away, maybe someday we can meet up. I have a Carbtune if you haven't synched your carbs yet. Or maybe you can line up that burley 2L twin against the VR and do a real life test:thumbsup2: -

Quicker than a 2014 CB1100, not as quick as an 84 V65 Magna -
Are you running any kind of a noise filter with your setup?

You get no pressure on lever with bleeders closed? Or open?

Vmax Final Drive Install
Rosie1965 replied to jdross440's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
At 80 mph that motor will sing a beautiful song. Nobody should be afraid to go with the Vmax final drive because of a fear of interstate speeds/rpm. I've gone through a full tank non stop at those speeds with no ill effects. -
Rear brake puzzle
Rosie1965 replied to Rosie1965's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Skydoc_17 to the rescue again! Thanks Earl! Correct bolts were 1/2" shorter than what I had. Have a good MKI rotor available for anyone who wants it, just have to cover shipping. Thanks again for everyone's help! -
