  1. That mean its good for riding in the mountains
  2. Good eye must be why they call you Buckshot
  3. I thought these bikes used DOT 4 brake fluid hmm have to run to the shop to check my owners manual. Yep Dot 4 page 7-29 owners manual
  4. Thanks Neil that's the ones. Got two on the way from dealer $26 bucks a piece
  5. Welcome George ? can you change your own oil if so with help from the folks here there is a awful lot you can do yourself. You might have to pick up a few tools but compared to what the dealer will charge you will be money ahead. If this is your first RSV some are noisier than others so I dont think I would go to worrying about the valves with your mileage just yet. Give it a good dose of sea foam to start with and flush that clutch with some fresh dot 4 brake fluid and give it a good bleeding. Might as well do the brakes while your at it. All the folks here will have you in good shape in no time.
  6. :sign yeah that::sign yeah that:
  7. LOL what I need or think I need is some new gaskets for the Y- Pipe. the ones that fit inside the pipe or maybe there called something else. There made of a soft heat resistant material. Back in the day it would probably have been Asbestos. Cant find a part number or listing for them in the manual or parts lists. Probably have to call the dealer Tomorrow when they open.
  8. That looks as hot as the ride was today unless you trailer ed it home. PS. swap the antennas
  9. Hmmmmmmm Did I FINALLY get everyone stumped with a question.
  10. My apologies I just noticed your working on a 97 RS so second method may not work for you not sure how your header pipes are attached.
  11. I know exactly where your coming from I had one stuck at the SE Texas MD a rubber mallet wouldn't touch it. To get it off I used a Die grinder with a small cutting wheel. First I cut the clamp and got that out of the way. You will then see the slits in the muffler where it slips over the tail pipe. Carefully cut along the slit making it longer probably on two of them. You probably will not have to cut all the way through the muffler but real close. You just DO NOT want to cut through the bikes tail pipe. Once you have weakened the muffler some side to side or up and down movement will let the end split open enough to come off. I haven't tried this method but I just removed my Y pipes and there is two clamps and a mounting bolt right there where the muffler clamps on. Loosen the two clamps and remove the bolt and the whole assembly should come off. You will need to remove the side cover first. The second method would allow you to get it on the bench to do your cutting. Hope this helps.
  12. Got started on servicing the swingarm today and when I removed the Y pipe one end just slipped off without loosening the clamp. Looked in service Manual for a part number but didn't find any listed or shown pg 3-32 . Discovered this after removing the exhaust bolts at the head on one side and then realized that it wasn't necessary. Also found a pin hole which I should be able to weld up. Been having a little bit of popping now and then so now is the time to get the exhaust tightened up.
  13. Yep thats what it is if you have any warranty left they will replace it free. They did for me.
  14. We sure do you and some great ride maps.
  15. Don't think battery will be covered but what ever is draining it would be covered under warranty.
  16. Before you go to all that work I have a OEM shield I cut down. I would have to measure but I'm thinking around 13". It's yours for the shipping if Interested. It was pretty scratched up on top and my plan was to add some dark tint to it. But after a test ride I didn't like it. To much buffeting on me and the wife and really had to turn up the tunes to hear. If you decide to cut one find some other way besides tape to prevent scratching from the saw or whatever you use to cut it. I read where duct tape would remove the film so I used masking tape and it still removed it in patches.
  17. That must have been a fast boat Glad everyone is having a good time.
  18. Guess time will tell but in the mean time I have two RSV's and a new to me trailer I cannot use. You sure that's not 4 rsv's and 2 trailers :stickpoke:Hope you get straightened out.
  19. A big fat NO if what you have said save your money If you can do all of the things listed in your post there is not much on this bike you cant do yourself. That money would be better spent on a roadtrip.
  20. Heck he loses one and replaces it with two just in case.
  21. :sign yeah that:That will be like going around the block
  22. Megatron probably stole it when you weren't looking. Sorry all I got
  23. Would gladly offer a stop over for those heading north but I will be in Colorado that week. One suggestion is contact the http://www.arkansas.com and request ride maps. There are 4 different rides out of Rodgers all returning back to Rodgers. I personal have not had the opportunity to attend but like Solodadof2 said there will be so much to due there is no way to see it or ride it all in one weekend. If you get the chance for a ride you will see enough you will definitely want to make a return trip.
