You will probably notice a difference right away as to the feel of the seat but won't be able to truly appreciate it without a longer ride. It is possibly the best mod I've done to my ride. Dave

Three votes for this technique. It is very simple and effective. I find it helpful if she does it in one smooth motion. Dave

I have many of the parts for the system from an '86 but, having recently installed a JMCB-2003 on Jan's Sportster, I would look seriously at it. You might spend a bit more money but you'll also get new technology. You won't have AM/FM (or cassette) but you'll get a 3.5mm input port for IPOD or any other compatible device. Dave

It turned out great. You might want to trade another shotgun for a garage!! Dave

1st Gen CB Install Manual
utadventure replied to Missionary Rider's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Chaharley purchased a CB to install in his Venture. If no one else wants it, it may be of help to him. Dave -
I'm presuming that the clutch is cable driven. Cold could be cause things to contract (springs, etc) so that there isn't as much travel when the clutch is pulled in. It may be worthwhile to check and adjust the clutch cable while the system is cold. Dave

Sounds like you have two kids to be very proud of and for us to be grateful for. We appreciate their service and sacrifice. May the be safe! Dave

Nice addition!! If I had know you needed another bike, I could have gone to the auction for you at the first of the month. Dave

Looking for A FEW GOOD PARTS
utadventure replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Bob- I have a brown passenger bag from an '86. I also have a left signal assembly with a slight crack near the rear screw but not broken through. PM me when you get a chance. Dave -
I've used the J&M 584 series with good success on the Venture. Someone else will chime in here if I'm wrong about the 2nd Gen bikes, but you will need the 5-pin lower cord to go with it. Good Luck!! Dave

WOW!! I just installed the J&M cb radio on Jan's bike and I am very impressed. I put on a Firefly 3' antenna with adjustable tip. I adjusted the SWR in just a few minutes and it broadcasts and receives better than the Venture radio, about 4 miles from inside my garage. First road trip this Saturday. Dave

Thanks to the marshalls and riders that help make this event possible. Our 20 year old son was diagnosed with MS just about a year and a half ago and funds raised go to a great cause. Dave:clap2:

I just ordered this unit for a single rider (about $50.00 less) with mounting brackets and a lower cord for the headset I already have. I got the unit from Sierra-MC and the antenna from another company. Total was $405.80. I'll need to make a bracket for the antenna for Jan's bike but that's it. Dave

Glad to see you up and running again Mike. Has your son got his license yet? Our offer is still good!! Dave -
Great looking bike. Prettiest color combo they produced!! Maybe I'm prejudiced. Dave

They can say all they want about the environment where the bike was stored but I find it interesting that last spring, the Avon tire on the front of my son's '81 Silverwing was cracked on the sidewalls. His bike was parked next to mine in the garage all winter, under the same conditions. His tire cracked, my Metz ME880 had no issues at all. I have a hard time believing it had nothing to due with Avon and the quality of the tire. Didn't help our opinion any that they wouldn't warrantee it. Dave

I just put one in my '86 from Josh. Great service, great battery. Don't know about Canada, but if you're close to the border, you could ship it in the US and go for a ride and install it while you're here. Dave
