  1. Here's my buddies Ural Gear Up. Complete with Russian machine gun from Poland and that goofy soft fairing http://i48.tinypic.com/10gn1u1.jpg
  2. Congrats on the anniversary and the ride! I was thinking about riding that direction in the spring. MS Streets and Trips doesnt show that there are many gas stations in the region. Did y'all have problems finding gas?
  3. Counting up about 120 for me. West Texas with the 80+ speed limit a factor. Cant wait to go back.
  4. I ordered the Ultimate Bead Rider this summer (top pic) and so far it's been great in the Texas heat. It is made with ceramic beads. It fits really well on my Mustang Seat and actually allows enough air flow under me to add a cooling effect. My previous seat cover was 2 sheepskin washmits sewn together with wooden beads ($8 Walmarts) cut to the shape with kitchen drawer nonslip paddingon bottom (bottom pic). My butt never went numb with that setup. I still carry the washmitt seat cover (wood beads removed) to put over my ceramic beads if needed but havent needed it so far. http://i45.tinypic.com/jsnl7q.jpg
  5. I decided for the summer I would try ceramic beads. I usually use my homemade sheepskin over wood beads which is good for 700 miles and never going numb. http://i46.tinypic.com/35bf4h1.jpg
  6. I have two 2010 F-150's. My XLT and my wife's Platinum have not experienced rear-end problems that I know of but hers ate that set of 20" Scorpion tires in 19k miles. Ford says the front end is aligned and she drives like a kitten. Not looking forward to replacing those tires this soon.
  7. The stereo in my garage is an old Realistic with an 8-track in it. Havent had an 89-track since the early 80's.
  8. I have the Khrome Werks pipes. Sound great. Throaty and not too loud. http://www.khromewerks.com/ (click on Yamaha)
  9. I took the scissors from my swiss army knife and cut between the beads 1 row out from where I wanted to keep then, on a flat surface, carefully fed the unwanted beads off while threading a long weedeater string thru the outside beads to remain. For extra bead-stability, I put drops of glue in the center of alot of the beads within a couple inches of the outside.
  10. Mine's from Yamaha. It's not perfectly clear anymore..... damn butterflies!
  11. My wifey loves the Mustang back seat. I feel she's waaaaay back there because the seat is so big. I made her a wooden bead seat cover for the really warm days which also adds to her confort.
  12. My Tri-Bar headlight is perfectly clear like my running lights. I wouldnt take it if it wasnt.
  13. "Get Well Soon!" from me also. I too am in Katy if anyone needs anything. I was riding around Columbus yesterday thinking the roads arent as good as they used to be.
  14. If I go back to 1969 can I bring the Boss 429 back with me?
  15. Remember the Gentleman Bandit a couple decades ago? That was my next door neighbor of 14 years. Never would've guessed that one.
  16. I was the same way. Avons changed the world on my RSTD. 5k miles later and I still find myself swerving right and left in my lane on long slab rides just to feel how well rounded my tires feel on the road. Never was amazed like that with Bridgestones or Metzlers.
  17. I've had a heavy dose of Seafoam foul a couple plugs on a previous bike I had.
  18. Two years ago I picked up my '05 with 5200 miles for well under $7k. It had alot of extra chrome, passing lights and a new rear tire. They (used bike dealer) wanted alot more for it but seeing the cash helped get the deal. It had less than 6 weeks warranty remaining but I couldnt find anything wrong.
  19. I have the optional Tri-Bar headlight and Tri-Bar passing lamps from Yamaha. Just rode West Texas Mountains with alot of night traveling. Plenty of light with this setup. I have Dave in this post to thank for this setup as when I met him he noticed that we had different lamps in our Yamaha passing lights and so I did some research and found that the tri-bars were Yamaha and they made a headlight to match. $100 later, All of my lights matched!
  20. I have not had good luck with the Bike Master Tru Gel in other bikes and will never purchase another one. I got my bike loaded and ready to leave for Big Bend last Monday after going for a ride. When I went to pull the bike in the garage I hit the starter and nothing. So Monday, the day all motorcycle shops are closed and 12 hours before I was scheduled to leave for the ride across Texas, I had to purchase a Duralast battery from Autozone. I did not have any problems with this battery. Has anyone else installed a Duralast? What can I expect out of it? I usually a Yuasa only guy. Never heard of DEKA till now.
  21. Hey!! I just found out that this site has a Chat Room!!
  22. I have a Mustang on my RSTD. Along with my own custom seat cover I'm good for 700 miles. (Never tried farther) The Mustang is short in the seat and I am not small but I did not have a problem adjusting. I do have a Butler modified stock seat and that was worth the $$$ for sure but I have been riding on a Mustang seat for alot of years with my previous bike (Magna) that I decided to stick with what I was used to.
  23. I would but I work for a company that provides all management with vehicles and also pays all gas including personal. We try not to use the wifes vehicle too often and she only works about 3 miles from the house.
  24. With my 70 cent discount last week I paid $2.75/gal at the Randalls grocery store by my house. I was filling up my wifes F150. I think I will start carrying a 5 gallon gas can when I cash in that credit.
