Well I had the unfortunate task of helping a biker that went down this morning. My next door neighbor and I left for work at the same time. She and I were the second and third on the scene. He was laying face down in a pool of blood. Looks like he may have hit a deer. He was wearing only a half shell helmet. They look cool, but did not keep the gravel from being impacted into his right ear canal. He may lose the hearing from that, his face was covered in blood, major road rash and missing tissue on the right side of his face, left eye had no pupil visible, just red. Right foot.....facing the wrong direction. He was awake, he could not breathe, knocked the wind out of him. I helped him sit up so he could breathe easier. He kept trying to get up to get his bike. I asked him to listen to me, biker to biker, if he promised not to get up, I would go pick up his bike. He agreed and I picked up the bike and rolled it off the road. It WAS a nice Ultra Classic. He was more concerned about the bike than himself. I understand, I probably would be too in the same situation. Once EMS and the police arrived I asked the officer in charge that when they call for the tow truck, to please request a flat bed so there would be less damage done to guys ride. He said he would do that for him. Let's all be careful out there. Watch for mother nature on the back roads. You just never know.

Just back from 7200+ mile Western Road Trip!
rickardracing replied to maineventurerider's topic in Watering Hole
Awesome! I would love to do something like this. -
I have Samson 29 inch turn outs on mine. It is loud, but I have no problem hearing the radio or cb with or without my headset. Mine are staying for a long time. Plus, I have no problem bringing up the rear.

Not an excuse. Just a fact. I think he was an idiot too. Just does not deserve to get shot over it. -

He should have left the kid at home. Why did he get what he deserved? If a man OR woman cheats on their spouse, it's because they are not getting what they need at home. PERIOD. Plus, this is a motorcycle forum, not a marriage counselor forum. -
Your gonna wake up the neighbors with those. I put on some Samson 29 inch turn outs. Love them. I noticed that I do not get tailgated as much with the louder pipes on. Cages kind of hang back were it's a bit more quiet.

Does it really bother you that much to go through the effort of removing the cb?

Pretty much by the time those things go off, they already got you. Stay within 5 over the limit and you don't need one.

Armrests for 2009 Royal Star Venture
rickardracing replied to gimai's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I have Carbon One's on my '07. Great product, cheaper than the diamond r rests. -
ANYTHING that makes you more visible is a plus. Next year I will probably have a modulating head light and convert all my brake lights to led. But the world is full of dumb poeple and sometimes you just can't avoid it.

I would NEVER try and bring my dog along in a trailer. Way too dangerous, I do not care what kind of trailer it is.

Well Joe, last Wednesday someone (customer/delivery)backed into my bike at work, then took off. Bent the passing light/turn signal (right side), viosr on the turn signal, clear deflector and my side stand has a nice bend to it, and the bumper went over the top of the fender leaving a crease and scraped up paint. The angle they hit it on, the bike did not fall over. It just put alot of pressure on the side stand and bent it.

First ride impressions

Whine is the clutch. Some are louder than others. Quirk of a Venture. I fixed mine with louder pipes. You have to set the radio to aux for the mp3 player to work. -
My daughters Escape just had to have the transmission repaired. 80,000 miles, 4 years old..............$2300. I do not care what anyone here says, cars for what they cost now days should last over 100,000 miles with no problems. The only thing you have have to do in that 100k is new tires, brake and plugs/tune-up. I have had plenty of domestic vehicles in 32 years of driving and none of them have made that mark. None. The only ones that have are my "imports". Not slamming any manufacturer, so please do not pelt me with your statistics and recalls of the "imports" . I am just stating a fact that I personally encountered. I work hard for my money and when I am making payments on a vehicle, it had better not puke out. One of the reasons I do not own a HD. Heard and know of tooo many poeple that paid lots of cash for something that is not reliable.
