  1. If your time allows take either Rte 100 north in VT, great bike road but will be well traveled on the weekend peak times. Or even better slide on over to the NH side of the CT. River and take the road that hugs the eastern shore, great road that almost no one knows about because Rte 100 is so popular. Also make sure to ride the Kangamangus Hwy in the White Mountain area. Lots of great views.
  2. I think I may have a left hand handlber switch assy from an 89 with the ptt button. Pm me if interested. It may not be a plug for plug wire job into the 83 however.
  3. Did on my G1 YES. YES. YES. No downside at all. I don't drive at stock top speed of 136mph, 120 is just fine. Doing on my RSV this winter.
  4. Previous owner installed mine plus (Baron tach) so I can't tell for sure difference but you will get another 1000 RPM of "useful range". So say from 6000 stock to 7000 with Dyna3. That's 16% higher top speed in any gear before you have to shift. Redline is actually set to 7500 on mine but there is no power above 7000 anyway. Probably intake system limited. My Gen1 Mk2 screams to 8000. Better mileage - don't think so. Would I do it if it wasn't on bike aleady? Of course but I'm a sucker for this stuff. Next performance upgrade will be a Vmax rear end. Then you definitely want the higher redline.
  5. 2006 - I'm betting it's a 95" motor but I could be wrong. You could get a 103" in police trim that year or a $creaming chicken with 110" FWIW My 88" with pipes, filter and Power Commander would get 69HP, my neighbors similar 88" get's 74 (different Dyno though) RSV HP Drop at 6K???? Look at the Dyna3000 advance curve in their install manual. It shows the stock ECU killing advance starting at 6000, well before the hard redline. My RSV has a dyna3 from PO so can't compare apples to apples. It pulls hard to 7K but starts to get soft to the 7500 RPM redline. I'm reading these off my tach so should be accurate. Sorry Gen1 is still faster, it pulls hard to 8K no problem, I have seen 8500 RPM briefly
  6. Check out the Motorola MotoRokr. Bought it for rental car use but have used it on RSV as well. Around $70. Gives you Bluetooth audio over FM and Play Pause Fwd Back Answer control of your phone from the cigarette pack sized module. Internal rechargeable battery gives about 6hrs use. I have to say my MP3 thru aux cable sounds better though.
  7. I'm going just for the day, either Thursday or Fri depending on which day is better weather wise. I usually try to get in as many demo rides as I can. This year I'm camping out at the spider and victory booths to see what they have.
  8. Collusion between factory and supermarket exhaust companies? Seriously the kawi1400 was on my short list but too much LEO where I live for this to be a practical option. Awesome machine though.
  9. Swifty - If it turns out you need a sensor its yours. Just pm me. Can't see where position of the sensor would matter as long as hoses and wires are going to/from same place as original. It "might" make a difference in orientation I.e. not sideways or upside down but 95% I think this won't matter either. Easy enough to check on the bench if orientation does matter. Pull a vacuum, do electrical measure and then rotate the unit to see if reading changes. My bet is it won't.
  10. Got one here you can have. Not 100% sure of condition bought as part of an 89 that was wrecked so should be ok. Pm me if you need.
  11. Seems to be a common mod for 1st Gens, I have one on mine; but has anyone seen a need to do this for 2nd gens? Maybe the 1st gen's temp gauge has made us all paranoid OR the 2nds gen's lack thereof had made us all too complacent OR mother Yamaha has done proper engineering and I don't need to worry about it.
  12. Take the unit apart. If this switch is the same as the switches in the radio head then they are a fairly common type that can be found at most any full line supplier like digikey, Newark or maybe even radioshack. I replaced a few in my radio and it was easy.
  13. I've experienced this to some degree on my 00 Road King. Happens more as the rubber bushings in the rear swingarm mount deteriorate. As mentioned there is an aftermarket fix, as there is for many other Harley shortcomings. I'll take whine over wobble any day of the week. I like many things about Harley but am glad I found what great machines the yammy V4s are. And what a great bunch of folks we have on here. Go visit a Harley forum for an eye opening comparison of respect.
  14. Where you live, even within the same state, can have a big impact on rates. My buddy one town over, which is far more populated than my town, pays quite a lot more than I do. Likelyhood of accidents and theft is apparently higher so you are charged accordingly.
  15. I've got one I bought from Condor last year but never installed. I'm riding my RSV almost exclusively now so if someone is in need please PM me.
  16. Try Radiosure get it from Cnet downloads. Does a pretty credible job of recording streaming radio to .mp3 files. It even has the option of splitting into individual song files with Tags etc. Limited of course to how well the streaming station does at updating the text about the songs they are playing.
  17. PO of my 03 welded some short brackets to the saddle bag frame. I'm out of town so can't take photo but its a real simple piece of straight bar stock piece. Welded at two points with two holes I think.
  18. I've lost almost 40lbs since last fall. Doubt that's all the difference but everything is a variable. Can't ride the scooter for a couple of weeks But gotta work to pay for my toys. .
  19. Put about 70 miles on new smaller size 130 Dunlop E3 in varied conditions. Seems a little less ponderous at slow speeds but could well be psychological since that's what I was expecting. No regrets so far, but haven't had enough seat time or high winds to tell for sure. I'll be out of town for a few weeks. Will write back once I have a few hundred miles in all conditions to report on.
  20. I've never seen chrome trim on the trailing edge of the fairing lowers. Nice touch. Ride safe.
  21. Sweet ride!!!!! Nice color too.
  22. Has anybody gotten their new player yet? I ordered one about 10 days ago using paypal but can't see any record of transaction so at least it looks like I wasn't charged. I was going to try to order again.
