  1. A great fund raising idea for a great cause. You look 10 years younger, but now you're going to really feel the cold. You may have to grow a beard or something?
  2. Warning: Scam Against Older Men Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it. This is a 'heads up' for those men who may be regular customers at Lowe's, Home Depot, Costco, or even Wal-Mart. This one caught me totally by surprise. Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your older friends. Here's how the scam works: Two nice-looking, college-aged girls will come over to your car or truck as you are packing your purchases into your vehicle. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. (It's impossible not to look). When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' but instead ask for a ride to McDonald's. You agree and they climb into the vehicle. On the way, one starts undressing and then starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen Sept. 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also Oct. 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 27th, and very likely again this upcoming weekend. So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of us older men. Warn your friends to be vigilant. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found even cheaper ones for $.99 at the dollar store and bought them out in three of their stores. Also, you never get to eat at McDonald's. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth from Lowe's, to Home Depot, to Costco, Etc. So please, send this on to all the older men that you know and warn them to be on the lookout for this scam. (The best times are just before lunch and around 4:30 in the afternoon.)

  5. Scary but true. Thankfully not in all cases.
  6. Wife’s Diary: Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it. Conversation wasn't flowing, so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk. He agreed, but he didn't say much. I asked him what was wrong; He said, 'Nothing.' I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it. On the way home, I told him that I loved him. He smiled slightly, and kept driving. I can't explain his behavior I don't know why he didn't say, 'I love you, too.' When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there quietly, and watched TV. He continued to seem distant and absent. Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed. About 15 minutes later, he came to bed. But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else. He fell asleep - I cried. I don't know what to do. I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a disaster. Husband's Diary: Boat engine wouldn't start. Can't figure it out.
  7. Start looking at a second Gen? Sorry I'll go back to my corner
  8. Your rad must look like its full of cement?
  9. The problems I thought I had don't even compare to what others are going through or feeling. My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes and pray that the rain will come soon. I just can't believe that there are looters trying to gain something by stealing stuff in these areas?
  10. Ok .....?
  11. My Valk was a great bike...wished I had never sold it. I'm not familiar with the aftermarket cruise control and the only issue I had was the heat from the engine on my legs and the kill switch on the handle bars. This switch can cause havoc on these bikes, so I never used it to turn off the engine. IMHO...sounds like an excellent price for an Interstate!
  12. Hey...without hearing or being able to touch your bike; it could be the timing chain or guides rattling around. Without load on the engine (cruising speed) it would be more prominent. If the noise disappears with the engine under load; a good chance it could be worn? As you said reving the engine with the clutch pulled in (not under load) you can hear it. Just a thought. But then again I've been wrong before.
  13. Are you suggesting "Maintenance Day" north at Charlie's?
  14. My favorite summer meal is a free one that I didn't have to cook.
  15. If it helps, I sold my Midnight RSV 2006 with many options @ 20,000km's for $10,500.00
  16. It really makes you want to reach out and touch someone, doesn't it?
  17. For my 06 Venture I was paying 1100. per year @ State Farm. I have had no accidents tickets and I have everything insured through them. I'd rather pay your rate.
  18. I have had telemarketers many times call and ask if I wanted my ducts cleaned. I tell them that I don't have any ducks, but I do have some sheep and cows that maybe I can get cleaned. Just silence on the other end of the phone. Then they explain again about duct cleaning and I say the same thing. Kinda frustrates them and they hang up. Also had one call about a survey and I'd win a prize if I answered a question correctly. They asked what was Canada's favorite winter sport? Of course I answered swimming; they said no guess again, so I guessed golf. They hung up on me cause I guessed it wrong, twice? Furniture steam cleaning, I tell them everything I own in the house is made of wood, even the mattress. Replacement doors, windows or cleaning, I have no windows in my house because I live in a cardboard box. When you have the time, they can be so much fun. Still trying to figure why they hang up on me, when I should be hanging up on them? Not too many calls anymore, I think they've crossed me off their call lists.
  19. Just a thought, there is a ceramic insulator around the electrode of the plug. There can be carbon tracking of the voltage/spark from the electrode down the ceramic insulation to the ground, away from the gap. As you know the spark will travel with the path of less resistance. I have also seen very, very fine cracks along this ceramic insulator as well. Spark plugs have also been known for shorting/arcing within the plug itself (core) to ground. My guess would be use a cross chart and try a different make of plug.
  20. As previously stated, if you're in doubt replace both sets. Life on the brake pads depends on many things including how much highway driving / city driving you do; do you gear down for/while braking, 2 up, etc... You may be interested in bleeding/changing your brake fluid as well, if it hasn't been done in a while; if at all? If the caliper pistons are starting to stick then you may be looking at rebuilding them. Proper grease can be used on the calipers proper moving/sliding surfaces. Grease is not to be applied internally to the piston or caliper.
  21. I hate hearing about motorcycle accidents. Prayers for his recovery and family.
