  1. My wife started out on a Vulcan 750. It's a great bike with shaft drive, liquid cooled, easy to handle and has more guts than the 1100 V-Star, that we've both ridden. At that time I had the 1200 Goldwing, which she could easily keep up to. We also had a Mustang seat installed as the stock seat was butt breaker. After 2 summers she built up her confidence and moved up to the Suzuki Intruder 1500. I would definitely recommend the Vulcan 750
  2. The RSV fits quite well and if I should change, it will likely be for a bike that isn't made yet. For me and a few of my friends, we have found on all bikes we've owned; their little annoyances or ergonomic issues. There will likely never be a perfectly bike built for everyone; but the one that I would prefer requires fuel injection, ABS, full fairing including leg protection, CC, heated seats, backrest with the same or more power and smooth as the RSV. Presumably a great handling Lazyboy on 2 wheels?
  3. This list/thread could have been said with one word...whipped!
  4. You forgot #1: A mind reader. Now that's really scary!
  5. Common sense isn't too common anymore.
  6. How about hanging that sign in your garage, shed or ? I'm sure the person who made it will be looking for it, or will be making another one to replace it? You can't have too many mementos.
  7. I kind of like the barrel thing better...keeps all the body parts in one place, don't have to go searching.
  8. Thanks for the all great information and opinions from everyone! Unfortunately, many of the "used ATV seller's" will tell you everything you want to hear. It also seems like the makes, models and features seem to be very close between Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Arctic Cat with no mention of Suzuki or Bombardier yet? Chinese model...not going to happen. Buying new in the US maybe the best option? Again thanks for the all this helpful info. and insight, please keep it coming with the pro's and con's
  9. I'm not familiar with ATV's (4 wheeler), so I've been looking to buy a used ATV, but would like to know from an owners experience what the best bang for the buck is. I'm looking for something between 400-650cc for trails, for cruising along on a frozen lake, general use, etc... Preferably a 4 wheel drive, locking front axle and still hopefully light enough to pull out of a bog. Maybe around 2-4k? What makes, years, models, mileage, etc should I stay away from? Any thoughts / guidance would be appreciated. Thanks,
  10. Pro's...Quebec City is a very interesting place with lots to see, a lot of history and many things that I have never seen before. I can see the bricks, narrow streets, horse drawn carriages and noise being the reasoning factors for no motorcycles. Con's...I found everything to be so very expensive for everything there, but I guess that's true for almost any tourist area. The roads around Montreal seem to always be under construction as well...at least they were a couple of years ago and I've heard it hasn't changed any since. IMHO
  11. The only weakness I've heard about these bikes from people that have owned the Pacific, was the voltage regulators would fail. If you're considering a scoot I would check out the Suzuki 650 Burgman first...it has a lot of high tech for a scoot and it really moves.
  12. I think everyone already knows that a 3rd generation Yamaha Venture is just a figment of your imagination.
  13. I feel sorry for all of those involved. Very sad and it shows that life is very fragile.
  14. Great video...made me feel like quitting my job and taking off. Then I came back to reality...gotta go blow more snow out of the driveway. Thanks,
  15. Let me try to put a few steps/questions in order to test the circuits, bear with me as I am not there to see this... Does this happen only when the engine is hot? Is the battery charging? (use a volt meter) Will the bike start only when it is cold? Check the terminals on the starter/solenoid Check the harness connectors from ign. switch to the starter Check the harness connectors from the stator - 3 wires Check the terminal connections at the key switch All these connectors should be disconnected and visually checked for any green corrosion or you may even find a wire/quick disconnect starting to melt. There are a few other areas/circuits to touch on, but these are the most likely. This list may help in the diagnosis? Unfortunately, the plastics will have to start coming off.
  16. My wife and I stayed at a hotel in downtown Lake George two years ago, during Americade. The hotel was on the water, they had covered parking and it was only about $75-80 per night. I enjoy camping but when camping prices come close to hotel prices, I'll choose the Hotel. Just my 2 cents.
  17. My 1500 Gold Wing had a few electrical problems that I traced back to corroded connections in the harness. Not saying that is problem as it could be a ground issue as well.
  18. Left over BBQ ribs, if there's any left after a meal. There good both cold or reheated.
  19. Not sure, I'll have to ask the wife. She kind of opens it automatically?
  20. My brother had an RD250. Fun bike to ride around town; lightweight, easy to handle, a real ring-ding-ding-ding sound.
  21. I think the Wing was on cruise control?
  22. Congrats! Even nicer; is when it's warm enough to ride, because it sure isn't here.
  23. Research the 4.7L engine on the web; you won't be impressed with the sludge problems. This is just one site of many. http://www.ehow.com/about_5571443_dodge-engine-problems.html
  24. Sure wish I had their time and money they had to spend on that thing.
  25. LOL...How true! Underpaid mechanic. Isn't that an oxymoron?
