  1. Here is a link that has some interesting or dry information on this subject. This source may answer some questions? Keep in mind this info is from 1994, and there has been many changes made to oils since then. Looks like the questions of motorcycle vs automobile oils has always been up for debate? If you're prepared for a lot of reading, with some scientific results at the end, make sure you have coffee or something? http://www.virtualbiker.com/valkyrie/mcnoil94.html
  2. There's no doubt about it! We're comin' from the great white north, EH! Wearing our toques under our helmets with the "Good Old Hockey Game", playing on our radio's! We'll make sure we bring some of that good ol' Canadian backbacon too!
  3. Don't feel bad, bug seasons a comin' and lots of windshield cleaning.
  4. :bowdown:Ahhhhhh...no snow! I'm in a T-shirt with anything above 65-70F.
  5. Thanks! Now that I know what it looks like, that deflector makes sense. I don't know why they aren't available anymore? I think a lot of people with a RSV up in the northern part of the US and Canada would appreciate them. So I don't re-invent the wheel, does anyone have a pic of the brackets and or just a close-up of the deflector and bracket already installed? Thanks again,
  6. Does anyone have pictures they can post of these wind/air deflectors? If I can see the location, size, mounting and angles, I may be able to fabricate them? If they're quick and easy enough to make, I'll possibly make a bunch? I've seen the Bakerwings and the knee pad idea, but I'm looking for other possible options. I'm not going to wait till it warms up! My lower deflectors are great too, but my knees are still the only part that gets cold. Cheers,
  7. After reading your posts, I feel your frustration. Is it a starvation problem or is it flooding problem? Without seeing or touching it, from what you say, it may be and likely is flooding? I have rebuilt quite a few carbs over the years, but have never had the Venture carbs apart. One set of carbs that did stump me was on a Virago. I had them off about 4 times and could find nothing. Clean ports, set correctly, clean diaphram with no pin holes, and the floats... floated in the fuel. Out of frustration I replaced the needle and seats, even though I knew they weren't badly worn. What did catch my eye on my final carb assembly, was that there were slight wear marks on the side of one bowl. One float was hanging up! That was the problem. With a slight adjustment it was fixed! I have seen many people replace floats which fixed their problem, but a good chance it was doing the same thing...hanging up or down on the bowl. Maybe both. Now about the black stuff coming from your fuel bowls. If you say the inside of the fuel tank, screens and petcock are clean, then my only suggestion would be the fuel hose may be deteriorating or it isn't the proper fuel hose being used? Sorry for jabbering on so long. Just some thoughts, but I really hope they can help.
  8. I passed this video on to my son and a few of my other friends with motorcycles. Hope they pass it on their friends as well.
  9. I've read your website. It leaves me speechless and my mind traveling with so many thoughts and feelings. The older I've become (50+), I know more friends and acquaintances that are going through a similar journey. Unfortunately, I think I take most days granted, when it is everyday that I should be thankful to be here. My wife and I both ride, but she has much more of a passion for riding than I. Her dream (ten top things to do) is to travel across Canada on her bike, down the west coast, and across the southern US, and return back up Atlantic coast, home. Cancer runs in family as well. I guess we both better look into her dream a little closer? I'm planning to see that movie tonight with her, so I'm sure I'll get an earful. Anyway, maybe sometime if you are up to it, we can catch up with each other at Tim Horton's @ 10 & Mayfield? Or if you need a riding partner, give me a call and maybe head up to the Forks or Wasaga Beach?
