If it hasn't suffered a serious impact, then don't worry about it. It will still protect you. They are just trying to sell more helmets.

Gauges Not Working?????
Monty replied to StarRider07's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Oil gauge sounds bad. Mine sits at zero with the bike off. When I first installed it, it climbed just as soon as the bike started...no delay. If it's working right, it will drop to zero as soon as you turn off the key. -
Great to hear!!!! Good luck with the new job.

engine oil light comes on
Monty replied to aspen60's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Acceleration sloshes the oil to the rear of the bike, and away from the oil level sensor, so the sensor temporarily sees no oil. As soon as you shift, and the forward weight transfer sloshes the oil back toward the front, the sensor is once again covered, and the light goes out. No worries. -
Mine has always been known as the "Roadkiller", but I'm sure the original owner would prefer I rename it.

That's fine, until you pass your first kidney stone...lol I tried to warn my nephew, but he was too smart to listen to an old guy. He's 20, and on his 4th stone this year. Too many Mountain Dews and energy drinks.

New Oils Seals for Valves?
Monty replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have a Parts Unlimited catalog, and it shows seals for the VMax, but not the Ventures. -
I like it!

It'll be at least a couple more weeks. We need a free weekend to do them both, without being in a rush and messing something up.

I see you have too much time on your hands....digging out these old posts and all. -
OK...What do I need to buy?
Monty replied to elmicko's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
No biggie. I'll bet it's just his cable anyway. I just have an old cluster laying around, that has a bad chip in it. Not beating me out of a sale. I wasn't wanting anything for it. -
Sorry to hear of the loss of a friend and fellow rider. When will it ever end?

new bike small problems
Monty replied to curtis's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Not sure how the light in the display ties into it, I haven't checked the schematics. I do know that sometimes, while riding down the road, my kickstand down indicator would come on and show it down. It didn't run any different though. As I said, mine was jumpered out. The wiring diagrams can be found here in the forums, under first generation technical library. -

Here ya go. Looks like less than $20. http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp If it turns out to be the speedo itself, I have one from an '83. -
I like it! Sorry we didn't make it over there yesterday. It has been so nice the last two days, we have been riding the wheels off of this thing...lol For Don... Hurry up and heal that arm.

new bike small problems
Monty replied to curtis's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Where at in Tennessee? Yours is an '88, right? It helps if we know which year it is. My '83 had a jumper where the kickstand switch was. Must have gone bad. If it sat for 3 years, the fluid may have gummed up in the lines. You might try disconnecting the lines and blowing air thru them. On the older Ventures, the rear brake pedal applies the left front brake, as well as the rear. The front brake lever applies the right front brake. -
That sure looks like a Dodge 2wd pulling out that Chebbie 4X4.:rotfl:

That was two years before I started riding it....legally.
