Some Issues with the bike.
ToRide1 replied to nonextant's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you keep the bike off base they can't say anything but you will need to take the corse if you want to ride it onto the military base and as far as I know this does not apply to civilians just enlisted personal.- 6 replies

Well how bad do want a Royal Star Venture and you can save a lot of money by getting a used one and I see a lot of nice used Ventures for sale. Now if you find a used Venture that fits your fancy get a personal loan and benafit of doing that way is you have full title to the bike! No lean.

You read right and we're all different and could be tall in the saddle but short in the leg, my self at 5' 5" I had to lower my bike front & back. No doubt the venture is a lot of bike and the best advice I could give is to go slow and take your time and you will learn how to handle this beast and riding with experience riders they sometimes forget your not use to handling that big bike and it takes time, and after 3000 miles you should feel comfortable with it.

I don't think their worth much as there 1000's of them kicking around along with the old Bell helmets and just about everybody I knew back in the 70's had at lest one bell helmet in their collection. I'm starting to feel old thinking about this stuff.

I'm not sure but I think all of Fulmer's open-face 3/4 helmets have passed Snell certification.

Its the OEM dunlop howlers thats making the noise and plan on replacing them at 7000 to 8000 miles and get off it if the road is wet the OEM Dunlops are not safe on wet roads after 5000 miles.

Bargin Battery
ToRide1 replied to FROG MAN's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Battery tender Jr. would be good and The sealed batteries I'm stuck with buying for the 05 second gen. I own kind of sucks as they are pricey compared to the dry charge we use to get and what I liked about them is I could store one on the shelf for 5 years and its still good! Just add acid and then the clock stats ticking. -
Disappearing fuel
ToRide1 replied to Ivan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I was reading some where on the internet, there are a few people that can save an old car or truck gas tank and what the do to it is! Sand blast inside and out to get rid of rust and to do this part they have cut a hole but on a motorcycle tank they can cut into the inside part that raps around the frame so you will never see it, and what oxidation is left they use a chem. on it then use some thick epoxy to coat the inside and the hole they had to cut gets a patch welded over it. Just a little info for any that want to know that. -
Relief from loud pipes
ToRide1 replied to murphyt's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the Road King mufflers Nice rumble not obnoxious sounding at all. But you will need a adaptor & a set of clamps, I think someone here makes the adaptor's and sells them to members. -
This is the beauty spin on oil filters many can be found to fit. The next time you may want to go to Wal-Mart and your looking for the SUPER TECH OIL filters and the part number is ST7317 and the super tech filters are made by Champion Filter Company and they are highly rated

Disappearing fuel
ToRide1 replied to Ivan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Check to see if the oil is contaminated with gasoline, one of your carburetors could be varnished up at the needle seat and its leaking very slowly into the cylinder and down past the rings. I have seen this happen a few times over the years. -
I did some riding this year but like the rest I want more. I have to laugh at my self after riding the bike every day until bad weather sets in and have to drive the truck and I find my self trying to shift with my foot and reaching with the left hand for a clutch.

I did the lowering kit on my 2005 venture but I also did the front as the same time. The bike no longer feels as top heavy at a stop or parking and more control for the same. Going down the road the bike wants to go into turns faster and low speed handling is greatly improved. Riding two up I did get some bottoming out of the pipes when I hit a dip in the road but adding some air to the rear shock say 54 PSI fixed that and I use 40 PSI solo.

Leaking gas from the air cleaner
ToRide1 replied to Espey's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Good deal Goose, Now the carburetor vent hose's if they get clogged what will happen is when you are running the engine at road speed it will slowly lose power and may die and fuel pump will have a hard time filling the fuel bowl if the vent is clogged as the air in the fuel bowl can't escape to let fuel in and in the same turn the engine can't draw fuel from the fuel bowl because its now created a vacuum. Yes it sounds confusing but thats the deal with clogged carburetor vent lines and mud dubbers love to put their eggs in them. -

Real Problems Now- Antifreeze-
ToRide1 replied to WAC1972's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
What goose is saying is good advice, and for anyone wanting to know Antifreeze testers are cheep and testing anyone can do just remove the solo seat and pop the cap. The Ideal Antifreeze mix is -20 to -25 that will give you good boil over protection and the cooling system will not freeze solid even at -40. it will look like slush floating in a green syrup. -
Don't think they list bikes on there, I my self won't own a harley because, one they are way over priced and two they just don't last or very few can make it past 100,000. miles.

Here is a website put tougher by a woman that has the right idea! Its all about Products that are 100% made in the USA and this is something we should all be concerned about as all of our industrial & manufacturing base has been moved out of the country. If you have a business or know someone that does you should show them this web page. http://WWW.stillmadeinusa.com
