  1. Well if the crooks have your cell phone it can be tracked to five foot of where it is and if the cops don't want to be bothered I say go after the cops as they are not doing their job and the equipment is in place for them to use it.
  2. Well now have something to rib you about. When I did my bike I put a riser extensions and that helped a lot put me back in the seat and no more sore shoulders.
  3. Jell-Coat commonly found and used on fiberglass boats and I have seen this stuff crack much the same way as you describe and the fiberglass will flex & give but the Jell-Coat will show cracks. Jell Coat has been used on cars and applied to many things. Could these saddle bags have a Jell Coat finish?
  4. There is after market cams & OEM as for the Vmax heads I'm told they have a different angle on the exhaust and the heads on the venture the exhaust is made to work with the Venture frame, Bub's makes the Pipes you will want and carburetors someone here may be more help with re-jetting or a good starting point and you may have to get rid of the air box and go with pod filters to get more air into it and a new spark control to up the RPM limit
  5. Ok and I did a post to thread and thinking it was kind of a glitch that did not show up. It was a play on words but I did not think I was pushing it, or am I wrong.
  6. I ran this by the folks on the 650 forum see what come back, they have at lest 6 X more members there and someone will find whats going on.
  7. Many are running the metzlers 880's on them bikes but just take the Front 130/90-16 67s & Rear 170/80-15M/C 77s size and mach them up and some offer white walls if thats what you want.
  8. Good to hear luck was on your side:2143:. We had a sport bike that was not so lucky! Running at hight speed in the dark T-boned a deer in the road:sign07:, squid bike parts could be seen for a 100 yards stretch along that road.
  9. Just join-up with that forum I showed you their a great bunch and there is a lot of people in your state that own these bikes and willing to help another owner out, they also do meet & greets where they rent out all the cabins at some camp ground for the whole weekend and these meet & greets are done by region with as many as 10 of them a year around the country. I have a 2005 Midnight Raven thats 650 custom that all blacked out.
  10. You will find the photos for the here http://WWW.650ccnd.com It in there you just have to look for it, this forum is great for anyone that owns a 650 V-Star and if you want to know how to make that little bike get up a go they figured out every thing that can be done to the motor and much more.
  11. They had some problems with the driveshafts on the 650 V-Stars and it needs to greased every tire change or sooner and this is not hard to do also note the hub alinement.
  12. Really the two motors are all most identical but for some reason you need to remove the front exhaust to get at the oil filter [bummer] this requires a new crush collar or exhaust gasket, so owning a Yamaha V-Star 1100, investing in a oil filter relocation is a smart investment
  13. Your welcome and I only do coffee. Now it may look like it leaking oil for the next two or three rides, but keep an eye on it, if needed try putting some grease on the rubber o-ring and give that a go.
  14. Just a little trivia and FYI the motor on the 650 V-Star was purchased by Mr. Yamaha some time back in the 1930's from Harley Davidson. It has under gone a lot of internal re-engineering but the out side is very close to what it looked like back then. The timing covers from a harley will bolt right on it.
  15. OK here gos Look on the right hand side of the motor you will see a round cover with three bolts remove them next you will see some more bolts remove them also look up by the foot peg you will two more bolts remove them the cover should come off and you will see the oil filter. Now be very careful when installing the bolts people get into trouble here and strip threads in the block. I like to turn you on to a website that deacated to the Yamaha 650 V-Star. http://WWW.650ccnd.com
  16. We had a look at a Civil war battle field and from there we did more riding and bob got to see the shack we live in and showed him the 650 V-Star I keep on my back porch.
  17. besides the obvious you can see, your bike uses smaller 28mm carburetors there may be other thing's I'm not up on.
  18. From what I know! Right now he's not a happy camper and it may take days before he knows him self just how he made out. My Wife is a nurse and works for the VA [Government] and from what she told me this was not good and in the last 25 years she has only seen three cases of this and Don's case is difficult to treat, note she has worked acute medical and oncology wards.
  19. Good deal. You must have some Irish in you.
  20. Me & my son along with RTR [bob] went riding tougher this sunday, we stopped in at Antietam battle field for a quick look around.
  21. I'm not that big but the rear tire always looks a tad low at 41 they handle great.
  22. Riding is fun so ride over to our side and buy what you want and take off all the price tags before going back! Like they can really tell where you got it from and after you get a mile from the check point on your side
  23. At lest you had nice weather for this or am I wrong.
  24. Curious as to what air pressure's you folks are use with the Michelin Commanders?. I'm running with 36 front 41 rear and just wondering if I should use more in the rear or not.
  25. Many of us have Road King muffs on our ventures would that make them Yamahogs?
