Yamaha built a V8 for use in limos. Don't know if they still build it. The old aluminum block buick engine really got around. It was used in the rover and TR8 and also in the Chaterham 7. At 1400 lbs with the V8 in it the 7 was the fastest accelerating road car in the world for a while.

Had a friend who was 60 years old and weighed about 120 lbs soaking wet. Every year he rode his gold wing down to Mexico and back. One year he was stopped at a light when a woman in a station wagon pulled up next to him. Being Canadian he smiled and nodded to her. She reached down and pulled out a hand gun and aimed it at him. He vividly remembers the pink curlers in her hair and the gun aimed at him. He hit the gas and went through the red light. He kept going until he got to the Canadian border and never went back to the US.

FYI First V8 built in Detroit was for a motorcycle. 1912 Scripps-Booth Bi-Autogo. Water cooled, shaft drive, air start. It was a bit heavy at about 3200 lbs. Had outriggers to keep it up at stops. Carried 3 people Curtiss-Wright 1907 air cooled V8 bike set land speed record of 136 mph. Basically a bicycle with an air cooled V8.

Check out the "Emma Maersk" It is the largest container ship in the world. It transports 15,000 containers from China to the US in 4 days. It is leased by Walmart. Perhaps not all their goods come from China but you can bet more and more are.

I get the same thing on the bike but not as bad as when I was driving a hot rod. Fat old guys in Cadillacs think they can challenge a hot rod.

Everything in WallMart comes from China. That is probably the problem. They have very little, if any, quality control in China. Don't buy from WallMart.

I was going to ask how it went. Wish we could have been there. Our trip to Hastings park went well. I wound up $10.00 up on the ponies and $180.00 up in the casino. For those who don't know, my wife arranged a group trip from Saltspring Isl to the race track in Vancouver. Ya just gotta love these island women. One of the ladies was very elegantly dressed in a cream pant suit with matching coat, gloves and hat with roses on it. she carried a cane which she didn't really need. She turned 91 yesterday. When she got on the bus she opened her matching purse and pulled out a bottle of Crown Royal rye. She then proceeded to tell stories about ladies who lost their panties. Got the trip off to a good start.

If he were a soccer mom driving a mini van and yapping on her cell phone he would have just got a slap on the wrist and no jail time. I think people who cause accidents in which other people get killed should all be treated the same. The soccer mom, the drunk biker and everyone else should get the same punishment.

I thought mine was loud until I compared it to my friends Triumph. Now mine seems quiet. The noise is loudest at about 80-90 kph. Perhaps I don't notice it so much because I don't usually go that slow.

I was looking for a first gen when I saw my 02 midnight. I went from a high performance but very comfortable 85 Madura ( similar to V max ) to the 02. When we rode up to Nelson I decided I did not want to stop before Nova Scotia. It just felt that good. It is a bit top heavy but that is only in the parking lot. Get it moving and that dissapears. I would like more power and less weight but the weight helps keep it planted on the long hauls. I would like full instrumentation. That is the thing that bothers me most about the bike. You do have to rev it to get the full benefit of the engine which I don't mind. -
I think you are just paying attention now that you know what to look for. My wife recently bought a white Kia van. It looks just like the dodge and the ford. I only noticed a couple on the island before but now I see ten or more. I keep telling her I am going to steal her van and have a flaming skull painted on the front with flames down the side just so I could tell it was hers. She is not too fond of the idea.

I don't use the cassette any more. The door kept falling open and then the cassettes started jamming and I would need a knife to pry them out. Door is now permanently shut.

Good news....after a month and a half of record heat we have finally got some rain. Bad news.....BBQ started yesterday and is going all day today and tomorrow. Odd news....The BBQ is a celebration of a friends wedding. This is her second wedding. The first one, several years ago was rained out.

Darn it SilvrT, now ya got me blushing. Just an ordinary day in paradise. It was double chocolate cake with blackberries cooked in red wine and cinnamon. Rob enjoyed meeting you and Nina as well.
