  1. You will make it just fine, I did. Don't forget to keep going with the PSA tests just in case. It came back on a friend of mine who is going in for more radiation.
  2. Had a similar problem. It turned out the rod you pull/push to open/close the choke was bent. bent it back and it was OK.
  3. Got coons here to. Lying on the couch one summer evening and watched the kitten invite a coon kit into the house. All went well until my dog spotted it, then all hell broke loose. Kinda like the time a bird got in and the cat chased the bird while the dog chased the cat while I chased the dog. In a log cabin with 14 ft high ceilings it got exciting. Almost as exciting as the time I fired up the chainsaw to do some inside modifications. I forgot the cat was in the house. There was a grove torn out of the walls about 6 feet off the floor. Ain't pets fun?

I get a lot of the guff about getting a Harley, even from non riders. I just tell them I would rather ride it than push it. You could always mention that Harley had to go to Japan to get the parts for the evolution engine machined. It is assembled in the U.S. Those neat Harley boots are made by Hush Puppy.

Just for interest Randy Bachman and Donnie McDougall are neighbors of mine. Small world.
  6. Oh what the heck, just grab some cheese to go with the wine and kick back. I don't see anything wrong with wining, I do it all the time, by the time you get to the second bottle everything is rosy.
  7. I have kept my 02 stock except for the Avons. It is top heavy in the parking lot but you get used to it. Just don't hang around parking lots, leave that for the Harleys.
  8. "Giving money and power to a politician is like giving whiskey and the car keys to a teenager."
  9. Someone has turned up the heat with a vengence, 102F (39C) in the shade today on our deck. I am not complaining, not after our long wet winter.
  10. Imagine the outcry there would be if she had hit a kid instead of a motorcyclist. Our government spends a lot of money making motorists aware of cyclists and school kids but spends nothing on awareness for motorcyclists. Time to create our own outcry. Is it possible that woman could be sued in civil court?
  11. Brings back memories of going camping when I was a kid. Also we kept one for when the power went out in the winter. Had the lanterns as well. Always found them to be reliable and solid.
  12. Better make sure he understands exactly what you need a hand with!
  13. Good thing you are going back to work after you retire. What I, and most of the retired people I know, have found is that after you retire you get so darn busy that you don't know how you ever found time to go to work. At least this way you are guaranteed days off.
  14. I understand they are expecting 2000 bikes in Vancouver and will be closing the Lions Gate bridge for part of the ride.
  15. Had a good ride Sunday. Went to Victoria for the "Ride for Dad" to raise funds for prostate cancer research. They had about 800 bikes and raised over $100,000.00 for research. They closed the streets through Victoria so we could run out to Ogden point then start the poker run through Saanich. My three queens weren't even in the running. On average two men a week die of prostate cancer just on Vancouver Island, in Canada it is 12 per week. The numbers have to be much higher in the US just due to higher population. There are about 20 cities in Canada that have this run. They are expecting about 2000 bikes in Vancouver next week. Get that PSA test every year, it can save your life, it saved mine.
  16. Sounds kinda like what I call "flat lining". No highs, no lows, no interest, just existing. It is a form of depression which is a chemical imbalance in the brain and is easily corrected with drug treatment. I know.
  17. Great riding weather here. 80 degrees and sunny. Now if only the darn grass would quit growing and some genie would double the size of my wood pile it would be perfect. I am going on the "Motorcycle ride for dad" to raise funds for prostate cancer research over in Victoria on Sunday. Last year, the first, they had 530 bikes out. This year they are expecting a lot more. Not bad for an island.
  18. Onward and upward! I quit the airlines in 76 after 11 years. I moved to Saltspring with a wife, two kids and no job. When I applied for work on the ships they asked what I wanted to do, deck, engine room, galley, shore. I said " anything that puts a dollar in my pocket" I wound up working all departments and have never looked back. It is all in the attitude and you have a good one. You will be OK.
  19. I have not ridden much for the past 3 years. Medical reasons, but this year my wife and I are going to Nelson. I am trying to log as much time as I can to get the feel of it again before going. Practice builds confidence.
  20. Had it done in both eyes. Walk in and 1/2 hr walk out, no pain. I found I have to wear sunglasses a lot because everything is so bright, also the deer population seems to have doubled at night.
  21. I had a similar problem. I found that if I used the tape deck/cb/radio and did not turn it off before shutting off the bike it would slowly drain the battery. I had assumed when you cut off the ignition it cut off everything, apparently the radio/cb/tape kept drawing somehow. No problems since I shut them off.
  22. Had a problem with my bike. After picking it up at the dealership where I had gotten it serviced it ran out of power and felt like it was running out of gas even though it had half a tank. When I opened the gas cap it became obvious they had crimped the vent line when they had put the tank back on. Runs fine now.
  23. Have run avons on my last two bikes. In many years have never had any problems with them but I did not buy any made in 05.
  24. Darn! and all this time I have been wearing mine in the front, no wonder it hurts, talk about lift and separate!
  25. Sent payment a couple of weeks ago. Guess you haven't got it yet. Knowing your health care system ( or lack thereof ) I included enough extra to pay for an asprin and something to wash it down with.
