  1. My wife has the same problem on my 02. She has short legs and the sides of the seat cut into her legs after a while. I would be interested in any solutions out there. Rocket! Nice of you to call! Sorry about your luck!
  2. I have/had a problem with the choke lever. It seems to bend very easily. Get under there with a pair of pliers and make sure it is actually moving through the full range.
  3. Check the bill. See if he provided the replacement free then hit you hard for labour.
  4. When i bought my 02 the mechanic told me it was better to rev it than lug it, V4s love revs. On my '85 v4 Madura the red line was 11,500. Apparently when they built it they ran it at 14,000 with no problems but the thought of letting that loose on the streets scared them so they limited at 11,500. Rev it up and listen to it. It will tell you if it does not like it, and if it doesn't then something is wrong.
  5. This may sound dumb but has anybody tried fitting glass packs like smitties or cherry bombs to their bike? I wonder what they would sound like?
  6. OK...so that is one bad thing about having a second gen...no MAC!!!!
  7. Maybe it will run quieter now.
  8. Come winter I take the battery out and store it in the house so the cold doesn't get to it. Usualy I get 3 years out of a battery.
  9. I'm with you. In the past 6 months I have had two friends pass away. Not as rough as what you are going through but it does give me an inkling. It is strange but by coincidence I was recently thinking about what my life would be like if my wife passed away. There would be one hell of a hole in my life. My sympathies are with you. Hang in and survive, she would want you to.
  10. '51 lead sled. chopped, dropped etc full custom chev running gear candy apple red
  11. That is one of the nicest trikes I have ever seen. Now all you have to do is drop in that 360 hp hyabusa v8 on kneeslider.com or that W9 engine on hosepowersports.com. 182 cu in 262 lbs 526 hp stock...1005 turbocharged Just kidding.....but that W9 would fit into my merc with lots of room left over.
  12. When I put mine to bed for the winter I put in a full tank of fuel, add stabilizer, fire it up and shut off the fuel. I run it until it runs out of gas and the carbs are empty. Never had any problems in the spring.
  13. News item...there is an ingredient in hops which helps fight cancer but to get the effect of it you would have to drink 17 bottles of beer per day. Sounds good to me. It would combine with all those tomatoes and peppers in the pizza and chili to realy fight cancer. The fiber in the beans is good for you too. For those who don't like beer (?????) red wine is also good.
  14. I don't golf a lot but we have a big course nearby and a par 3 executive course at the other end of the island. I found a soft bag which only holds 4-5 clubs. I pop in my 3,7,9 and putter ( it even has an insulated pocket for 4-5 beers) and sling it over my sholder and head out on the bike. It cost $ 24.00 CDN at a golf store. This probably isn't what you want but it does fine for a duffer like me. Golf is not a game to be played sober.
  15. I use the all natural kind. The wind is bound to pick up sometime soon.
  16. 1. screws falling out of trunk lid support 2. low fuel indicators not coming on until after I have run out of gas. Since I live on an island where I must take a ferry to a bigger island to take a ferry to the mainland I used to keep the display on the clock setting. This seemed to block the low fuel indicators from working properly. I now keep it on the odometer which seems to help somewhat but I still cannot trust the low fuel indicators. 3. Howl in clutch basket. 4. just developed low howl in rear end. probably needs grease. Next servicing soon. Shure do like the bike though. Was just at our local toy run, only 63 bikes but not bad for a small island. There were some nice harleys there but they got ignored as soon as I pulled in on the venture midnight.
  17. Mine was so stupid it should have been in a movie. I pulled up in front of the local coffee shop and with my mind wandering off on its' own I forgot the kick stand entirely. My friends said it was hilarious. I pulled up, stopped, then gradualy leaned over and dissapeared from sight! My foot was trapped under the bike so they had to lift it off me. A friend of mine pulled up at the side of the road in front of his co-workers and put his feet down. There was a ditch on the right hand side, down he went.
  18. My experience has been that I run out of gas before any indicators come on, in fact I generaly run out with 1/4 tank still showing. I just reach down and switch to res and keep going while keeping an eye out for the next gas station. Usualy after I have found a station and filled up and am on my way again when about a mile down the road the low fuel indicators come on then go out. Needless to say I don't rely on them.
