" An eating club with a riding disorder". Sounds like a natural for a cook book to me. Count me in.

Don't know if it is relevant to this site but I often get sent pictures which are way too large for my screen. When that happens I click on "Attachment" then double click it. That allows me to resize the picture with the wheel on my mouse. When I print it, it comes out the same size as on the screen. I think it stays that size when I forward it as well.

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Had an altercation with a couple punks. They informed me they could do anything they wanted and if I touched them I would be in trouble as they were only 16. I informed them quite forcefully that I was going to beat the crap out of them and when they got out of the hospital I was going to do it again and I didn't give a crap what the cops did. They were going to be in a world of pain. Problem solved. Had a passenger on the ferry come up to me and draw back his fist. I drew back mine. He said "you can't do that, you are an employee". I said " try me, you get the first swing, the rest are mine". He changed his mind.

The last thing I want is a Winnebago, I mean Honda Goldwing. There are improvements I would like to see on the Venture, starting with full instrumentation and ABS. Perhaps a little more horsepower and higher top end. I did not buy the GW because I did not like it. I much preferred the Venture and, with all its faults, I still do.

Well, I finally did it. We had the annual Croftonbrook ( housing for low income seniors) BBQ today. It is 110 degrees F in the shade today. After hauling chairs etc I took the truck home and went back on the bike. The only place to park was on a grassy slope which was actually very dry straw. As you guessed my foot went out and the bike veerrry sloooowly went over. No hope of stopping it. Only damage was to my ego. I picked it up but not before about 130 people, almost all of whom know me, pointed out my goof. Later that night got a call, some friends for Australia are arriving tomorrow, with several of their friends, 8 in all, for the night. Janet says she is moving out and may come back next week.

As a counter point to the cost of insurance in B.C. our cost for medical insurance is tiny compared to yours in the states. For my wife and I it is $40.00/month or $480.00/year.

There was a guy near here who built up Harley engines. He finally gave up. The reason? He said no matter how hard he worked over the Harley engines a bone stock Jap bike would still blow it off the road.

My Venture was about $6000.00 less than a Gold Wing and over $10,000.00 less than a Harley. That pays for a lot of add ons and fuel.

I think there will be a new Venture with a de-tuned V max engine and new frame and suspension. The present style is a hit so they may keep something very similar. It would be a wolf in sheep's clothing. If they do that I just may have to buy one. I can already hear the wife hyper ventilating. Oh well, you only live once.

Get any 50's 60's rock and roll? Thunder Road, Hot Rod Lincoln?

As I said on another thread on this subject....I suspect the amount of money spent advertising in a particular magazine carries weight so far as results and product placement go. So long as Yamaha refuses to advertise the Venture you will not see it front and center in any magazine.

Being from Saltspring (sheep country ) I used sheepskin. It works great. Unfortunately I sold it with my last bike and haven't got a new one yet.

Been using it for a while. Works good but I can't get the tool bar up so if I want to go to maps or print something out I have to go back to the old internet explorer. Not a big problem. What is the stealth mode? Sounds handy. I usually just delete the days browsing when I am finished.

Yeah! living in an igloo sounds good about now. 90+ degrees outside. Gotta keep the pig roast/lamb roast/salmon roast/crab roast away from the igloo though. Could be a disaster.

I actually suspect that it beat the Harley but Harley spends a lot more on advertising these bikes than Yamaha does. Economics sometimes dictate results.

I too have been on TV. Years ago they had a show called "Live It Up". I got on in the "Bug of the Week" segment. What bugged me was on packages of processed meat from outfits like Maple Leaf they stated "may contain meat by-products" I wanted to know what those were. When they called to arrange the taping they asked what I thought they were. I said " Lips and A$$h***s" They had a good laugh. They taped me in my cabin on Saltspring.

We have had the same problem here on Saltspring. This is a rural area and for over 100 years the local farms produced the best smoked ham, bacon and sausage you could get. There were roadside stands where you could get farm fresh free range eggs and fresh vegetables. No one ever got sick, the farmers families were eating the same foods. Then, not too long ago the government closed them all down for "health " reasons. Total BS. They were doing better than the big chains, the food was healthier and tasted way better.

A few years ago Janet and I stayed in the west end of Vancouver. She was attending a conference while I just wandered about. I suddenly noticed that I could see three blocks ahead and three behind and I was the tallest person on the street and there was not another white face to be seen.

Who makes the best quality slip-ons?

I heard a set of Samsons on a Venture in Nelson. Sounded good. Not too loud but throaty. -
I have a lot of fir trees here and there is no room to park anywhere but under them. In the summer the pitch runs and drips on to the truck and sometimes the bike. Does anyone know what will remove pitch ( besides a blowtorch ) without harming the paint?

I have used easy off oven cleaner to clean the glass on my wood fire heater. It takes the tar right off. I have also used waterless hand cleaner with some success but it takes longer.

I had real problems breathing and with plugged up nose etc. Seems I had a long running sinus infection. The doc ran a blunt needle up through my nostrils and flushed the sinus cavities out. It was the worst pain I have ever felt but only lasted a couple minutes, and I have had several broken bones, sprains, torn muscles etc. I could not believe the difference afterwards. I was literally dancing in the street afterwards.

Only 8? I remember when it was the Banditos against either the Rock Machine or Hells Angels, not sure which, and 28 died in Quebec and Ontario. Yup, just gotta get that Harley image. In B.C. it is Hells angels vs the Asian gangs vs the Russian gangs vs the East Indian gangs. They trade drugs across the border for guns.
