  1. Well, gee, thanks, twarnt nuttin ya know. Ah to heck with that modesty cra# YEA CANADA, we dun good! I think the hockey game could have gone either way, great game.
  2. Both teams were great and the goalies were amazing. I love the way it turned out but think it could have gone either way. The guys at the Legion were getting loud until my wife showed up. When she got her game face on and started screaming Kill him!!!Take him down!!! Hit him hard, harder! the guys wound up hiding behind the chairs and under the tables. Sure glad we won, I would have had to sleep in the truck otherwise.
  3. For anyone who might be interested the Googlemobile was in Victoria and came over to Saltspring. You can now get a virtual tour around Saltspring and the town of Ganges. At one point it goes up Fairway drive and you can see down my driveway. FYI. 68F on the deck today, not a cloud in the sky and it looks like two more weeks of the same. Downside is now I have no excuse for not getting at the wood pile for next year.
  4. Have thought about getting a tat but then I think about how much Jamesons or single malt scotch I could buy instead. If I got one I might get a sailboat on one upper arm and a motorcycle on the other.
  5. On my way to watch the game on the big screen at the Legion. Don't care who wins, just enjoy the party.
  6. Idea for all you snow bound mechanics out there. Put together a seat, handle bars and wheels. Mount a tape deck ( or upgrade to a cd) with motorcycle sounds, throttle activated, and park it in front of the tv. Flip on a travel show and away you go. Sounds like you could make some bucks with a rig like that.
  7. Gee Silver T cold over there in " Big Stink Across the Water" aka Vancouver. 64F on our sun deck yesterday. In the Victoria paper this morning banana trees are bearing fruit. I knew we have them here on Saltspring but I did not know they had them in Victoria.
  8. Yeah! What Squidley said, in spades!
  9. From reading this site it looks like they moved into the cold. OK so east of Vancouver doesn't count. 50F here yesterday. I know that isn't reall:snow2:y warm but at least it aint snow.
  10. PSA is not totally accurate but is a good indicator that there may be trouble. There are some other things which could cause a rise in PSA but the main one is cancer. As a rule of thumb a PSA of 0 to 3 is normal, 3 to 7 is something is going on, better check it out, 7 to 10 is you got a problem, do something right now. This can vary with the individual. My current PSA is undetectable (.02). They are working on a more accurate test but for now a simple blood test can save your life.
  11. I remember back during the cold war (yep, I am that old) we were informed, by the Russians, that they invented the telephone, electric light, airplane, penicillin, etc etc. Come on up, we have lots of room here. We have at least 7 provinces and territories that Texas could fit in with lots of space left over.
  12. Nice day here on Saltspring. 9C ( about 50F) and mostly sunny. Not bad for Jan 31.
  13. Got diagnosed with very virulent prostate cancer. PSA went from 2.3 to 11.8 in one year. Without treatment I had 24 months to live. I started drug treatment and injections right away. I was given the option of radical surgery (total removal) radioactive seeds or external radiation. It was my decision. I have bad asthma so surgery was out, the anesthetic might of killed me. I had multiple tumors so seeds were out. That left radiation. One year of drugs, injections and radiation and I am now in my third year cancer free. It all cost me nothing due to health care. The main point here is that if you find it early it is treatable. The key is to get the PSA test every year. This year 490 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer ----every week! 85 men will die----every week, mostly due to it not being diagnosed in time. In the U.S. those numbers will be higher due to larger population. Undiagnosed it spreads to all your organs and eventually to your bones. If diagnosed early treatment, whichever one you chose, can be 90% successful. Canada's Motorcycle Ride for Dad has raised $5,000,000.00 for prostate cancer research. P.S. With todays treatments you have a 90% chance that everything will still work afterward, if you follow my drift. I can attest to that.
  14. British Columbia Newfoundland Nova Scotia and anyplace south of the border.
  15. You got thermometers with minus numbers on them? dang man , you gotta move out to Lotus Land. Made in China, just my friend Won Hung Low.
  16. And here we were talking about going south for the winter. Looks like you got to move up north to our island. Haven't seen snow although we did get down to freezing a couple times. Cool out now but I did pass a couple bikes on the road. Weather...what happens east of the Rockies stays east of the Rockies.
  17. I turn 66 next month. When I get too old will switch to trike or smaller bike.
  18. I would love to go but it is a long way for me just to get to the start. I was looking at an outfit that rents bikes in PV and does 8 day tours through the Sierra Madre and back. It is costly so we may not do it but we go to Mexico and really enjoy it. We took a bus from PV to Malaqui then to Zehuatenao and back. No problems at all. We like Mexican food and all the people we meet are nice.
  19. don't blame Obama. Those problems were there long before he came on the scene. You are dealing with a for profit health care plan. We are getting some of the same problems here now that the health providers have been privatized. I am glad everything is finally working out for you. Hang in there, from now on it can only get better.
  20. Just got back from the bike show at the Tradex in Abbotsford. Got a hand out from Best Western which promises special rates and points rewards, room upgrades etc, but only for Harley riders. It states that it is exclusively for Harley riders and is covered with Harley logos. I think I will contact them and express my displeasure at being excluded from this because I ride a Venture. bestwestern.com/h-devents. Other than that the show was good. Sat on the new/old Venture and Bilco came over. We talked about Neslon for a bit. I sat on the new V-MAX and it reminded me of my old Madura. Some very interesting custom bikes there.
  21. I don't hunt deer, they hunt me. Thanks to my new eyes I have managed to dodge them all....so far. Keeping fingers crossed.
  22. I use glasses with a light amber tint. Gets rid of the glare without impairing your night vision too much. I also use them during the day but with a darker amber tint.

  25. You can get medicinal pot in Canada but it is grown under government licence so it is pretty pathetic stuff. Years ago I applied to join the police force. I got called in for an interview and decided to be honest. They asked what I thought of pot. I told them it should be legalized and subject to all the restrictions, regulations and taxes that apply to alcohol. This would undermine the drug trade, and once you demystify it the kids would not be so interested. They asked what I thought of hash. I told them it was better than pot and should be treated the same as pot. They asked what I thought of hard drugs ( coke, heroin, etc) I told them to put the users in rehab and take the dealers out into the woods and shoot them. I did mention that my drugs of choice were single malt scotch and Jamesons Irish. I figured I had no chance but I got called back for three more interviews. Seems the cops on the front lines are much more practical than the politicians.
