  1. So you are going across part of Canada then down to Cody and on to watch the Bakersfield Condors play hockey in California.
  2. Anything that doesn't have mold on it.
  3. Kinda hard to find twisties back there. Can't sneak out either. She can see too far. I was there in winter once. It was so cold my breath froze and landed on my foot...broke my toe.
  4. Yeah, what RUMBOOGY said. I am going to have mine done soon. Had the cortisone injections but that just helps the swelling and pain. Don't wait. Get them done sooner rather than later.

It is an 02 with 38,000 K on it. Last summer I came back from Nelson and heading west from Hope I was doing 170-180K on the freeway for some distance. I was just keeping up with the traffic. I think it was after that when it started.

    Advice

Being mechanically inept I could use a little advice. When my son was visiting we went for a ride and he told me my right exhaust was blowing blue under hard acceleration. Today when I went to put the bike away for the winter I did my usual with the sea foam and fired it up to run the gas out of the carbs. There was a lot of blue smoke from the right exhaust and when I held my hand to it it was much hotter than the left one which was not blowing blue. After running for a couple minutes the blue cleared up and the exhaust cooled down. All pistons are running fine. Before I take it to the stealer next spring for a tune up I would like to get an idea of what is happening. Any suggestions?
  8. Hi Rick. I have an '02 ram 1500 4X4 and it is a great truck. I got it second hand and it now has 170,000K on it and no problems. When we went to Thane Wyoming with friends I got 27mpg. It has the 5 speed standard trans and I have Michelin commercial tires on it so can jack the pressure to 80 lbs which greatly reduces the rolling resistance. I usually run at lower pressure, about 50lbs for more traction. It has the 4.7 310 hp v8 which is plenty of power. I wanted the Dakota but found it was too small for me, I couldn't drive it. The key is not to be in a hurry and spend a lot of time looking. Try them all and find what suits you. If I had the money I might go for the Tundra but I like this Dodge.
  9. Don't get most of those mags here. We do get Canadian Biker which was started by one of my neighbors here on Saltspring. It was originally called Motorcycle Magazine and I wrote a few articles for it. I find most mags are too Harley oriented or pure sport bike.
  10. Used a card (which I rarely do) in Victoria B.C. and got a call from MC a week later asking if I were buying anything in New Delhi India. Had to fill out some forms but they took care of everything.
  11. Go to the zoo at feeding time. Tape the big cats. Play very loud on your tape deck. Might not work but at least that is something they will recognize as a threat.
  12. I think I found just the thing for you. Check out the Ariel Atom 500. It is basically a street legal ( at least in England) go cart which weighs about 1000 lbs. Mr Hartley joins two Hayabusa engines into a 3.0 l V8 producing 500 hp and 258 lbs of torque. Should fit nicely in the venture. I would advise mounting it transversely.
  13. I have donated blood over 25 times now. I had a friend who got me into it. He had extremely rare blood type so donated for himself in case he ever needed it.
  14. Up here we call it Remembrance Day. We remember and honour the sacrifices made. The song " a pittance of time" was written in 2003 by Terry Kelly, a blind Canadian. We use it in " Two minutes of silence- a pittance of time". I just got back from a 1/2 hour radio interview about the Legion and its Remembrance Day activities. Two of us gave an hour long interview a couple weeks ago. I am due to give a speech at the high school on the 10th. I did it last year and it seems to have really impressed the kids. I think any company up here who refused to recognize Nov 11 would be publicly castigated.
  15. Don't know what my second gen tops out at. Had a chance to test it out so I wound it out.The spedo only goes to 180kph and it was still pulling strong. Felt rock solid all the way. The fastest I have gone was on the 85 Madura. I was clocked at 150mph.
  16. How about the Scrips-Booth Auto Bi Go? 1912 V8, air start, shaft drive, water cooled motorcycle.
  17. Hi Rick. We were through your area a couple weeks ago visiting relatives. I noticed the high price of gas there. On Saltspring it used to be the highest in Canada but a new station opened up and right now it is $1.10/l Guess you will have to come to Saltspring to fill up. I also noticed that Ladner had prices .10-15 cents higher than Abbotsford or Tsawwassen. Back to the thread...I liked the old Ariel square 4. A supercharged V4 today would be rather scary.
  18. Been flying to many countries most of my life. Never had any problems. Politeness counts big time. I worked at the airport in Vancouver for 11 years. Part of the job was dealing with customs. Most agents were ok but one had real attitude problems. When someone gave me a rough time I would always make sure he wound up with the agent with attitude, then make the remark that this guy thinks customs agents are all a------s. Out would come the rubber gloves. The most I was ever questioned was not by customs but by security and that was connecting from a flight from Florida to Vancouver B.C. The connection was in Seattle and I got off the Florida flight and went to the next gate for the Vancouver flight and had to pass security again. He questioned me over over half an hour about whether or not I was leaving anything in Seattle or if I had any soil or grain etc. I was simply walking from one plane to the next and never had to go through customs. Bit of a power trip there.
  19. Some time ago I put a question on this site on just that subject. Got no replies. Now that you have done it I have an answer. I was looking at chrome cherry bomb type exhaust for about $30.00 each.
  20. When I was at a Ride for Dad in Victoria a couple years ago there was a guy with a bike towing a boat. It was about 8 ft long and you could use it for sleeping in as well as boating.
  21. Canada was world champion in 2006
  22. I enjoy a pint with my lunch. That does not mean I get drunk, it takes a lot more than that. If I have been seriously drinking...3 or more in a short time...one hour, then I don't ride or drive. One of the motorcycle mags set up a test with a slalom course then had some of their staff drink measured amounts over a couple hours. They would have a drink then ride the course then have another drink. It was interesting as a couple guys showed the effects after just 2 drinks while others needed 4 to show any effect. The exception was one guy who got faster and smoother the more he drank. I think it just shows how drink affects everyone differently and you have to realize your own limits and stay within them. No one else should be able to set your limits for you.
  23. Super bugs have been around for some time now. Fortunately they are not prevalent though they do seem to be found in various countries besides India.
  24. When my wisdom teeth came in there was no room so they came part way in then started pushing all my other teeth forward. I went in to get them removed, one each week, when I moved to Saltspring. The first two were no problem. When I went in for the third one the dentist had a new assistant. The tooth would not come out. He worked on it for an hour. At one point he had his assistant behind me with her arm around my head holding it in place while he had his knee up on the arm of the chair pulling away. He finally gave up and said he was going to send me to the hospital when it finally worked loose and came out. The roots were shaped like an anchor and had hooked around the bone on each side. The next week I went back and he looked at the last tooth and poked a bit then handed the tool to his assistant and said "Here, you take this one out". She nearly fainted and I was somewhat agitated. He tapped the tooth and there was so much pressure behind it that it shot out of my mouth, bounced off the light and ricocheted over and hit the wall.
