  1. Glad to hear you are going to be OK. I hope they charge that guy. If they don't then launch a civil suit. He is not much older than me but he should be off the road.
  2. I saw a bag made for bikes. It was a hard bag that split in two and you could mount each half an each side of the bike. I am not much of a golfer so I just got a soft bag that I can sling over my back. It holds putter, 3 iron and 9 iron. room for a couple more. Oh, and a couple coolers.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. I don't mind following as long as someone doesn't get us lost.
  4. The last thing I would want is for my V four to sound like one of those bang bang V twins. I prefer the roar of a four.
  5. Just got a set of Barons baggers, made by LA choppers. Have black tips to match the midnight. A little louder than I wanted but way cheaper than the Vance and Hines I was looking at. These ones are a straight slip on, no brackets to make. Deep rumble at idle, low rumble at cruising speed but real loud when you crack the throttle. They let everyone know you are not riding a V twin.
  6. Hey! that was our ring. Three shorts and a long. We had 7 people on the party line. Later we got an actual phone number it was 345T. now our number is 7 digits, and we are only 15 miles away.
  7. Old Goats don't pass on, they just keep on keeping on.
  8. No riding. Going to put the Merc in the car show then the legion has Canada Day celebrations which I have to help out at.
  9. Yep, remember them all. We had the first tv in the area. People would come over to watch it. My bed time was 8:00, 9:00 on weekends. I was continually hauled out of bed because I was the only one who could tune in all three stations. A few more....Wood fired stove. Saturday night bath when the water was heated in pots on the stove then poured into the galvanized washtub. Outhouse. Big celebration when we finally got a tin shower (cold water only) and a flush toilet. They were both out on the back porch so in the winter showers were very short and you sat on the toilet seat with your pants on first to warm it up so you didn't freeze to it.
  10. Had an "almost" once. Stopped at a light and glanced down. A wasp was just struggling to get to its feet. I guess it had hit my chest and been stunned. I don't know what the people in the car in the next lane thought when this biker suddenly went mad and started beating his crotch.
  11. You mentioned veterans centers. Are you a vet? If so by all means go to them. Most are set up to help when needed. The legion here would never allow a vet to go needy and I assume it is the same there..
  12. Had to go to the legion for our general meeting and elections. I refused to run again. Yesss, after all these years I finally get off the executive. Went home and celebrated with G&T on the sun deck, Howlin' Wolf on the stereo.
  13. Oh yesss, bin there. Got to work one day and went up to the cafeteria for a cuppa. was wearing jacket and chaps. Suddenly the pain hit, and you know it was in the part not covered by the chaps. Jacket flew off, chaps undone, pants same, beating myself in unmentionable areas, by now the girls are cheering and clapping.

I have heard that there was a group that planned to riot no matter win or lose. It seems one guy took his old beater of a car in to town intending to set it on fire. Was seen pouring accelerant on it. There was a group of four or five guys seen all dressed in black and wearing black balaclavas that torched the other cars. Don't know if it is true or not but could have been pre planned.
  15. Wait until you see my line of invisible ladies clothing!

I agree with all the above. Some guy got hurt when he fell off an overhead walkway. This riot overshadows the fact that previously there were 100,000 people out there with no incidents.
  17. How about a Saber Jet? The local Army/Navy/Airforce club has one on a stand, along with a tank. I got a picture of a 53 Buick next to the tank, not sure which was bigger or heavier.
  18. Never had a heel/toe shifter until I got the Venture. Hated it at first but once I got used to it I really like it. It is so easy and much quicker. I borrowed a friends bike and had trouble getting my toe under the shifter ( size 11 boots) It felt really clumsy compared to the heel/toe.

  20. Way to go! All it takes is someone to stand up to the bullies and they run. Keep it up.
  21. Hey Rick, I think the hardest part of the trip will be finding your place to start with.
  22. Just remember, if you have ever ridden a ferry you are overqualified for management.
  23. The circle fare is good. Remember, on the ferry you are first on/first off so don't be surprised when they tell you to go to the head of the line. Another ride is Tsawwassen/Swartz bay then over the hat to Naniamo and back to the mainland or Tsa to Saltspring then Vancouver isl and up.
  24. I just cut down the windshield on my 02. I think I cut it about 1" too short. Getting buffeting at about eye level. On the other hand the increased visibility is great and it is the only bike I have ever had with any windshield. Got to get used to ducking bugs again though.

Tried to play golf today, I figure I play like the Canucks...either realy well or really badly. I figure the Canucks to pull it out of the fire in overtime. That Thomas is just too darn good.
