I have been running 40psi front and 45 psi rear in my Avons. I think I will drop the pressure a couple pounds before heading to Cody. I had an experience with one bike where it went into tank slapping mode at about 100 mph. I got out of it by leaning forward and bracing my elbows against my ribs and keeping my arms rigid, pushing hard against both handlebars. It worked.

Sounds kinda like some Monday mornings I have had. Wasn't a virus though, 24 oz flu!

A several years ago a friend of mine decided to adjust his side stand. Later he was taking his girlfriend for a ride and the side stand swung down, he went into a left turn at fairly low speed and the stand dug in and flipped the bike into the air. She survived but he was killed. I forget the make of the bike.

On the way home from Duncan today a guy saw my bike in the lineup for the ferry. He had heard me coming. Said he really liked the sound. That is good to hear as I really can't tell while on the bike. He has the same bike so I told him about this site. I think he will join. I have been waiting for the boss to yell at me about the pipes but she hasn't yet so I guess they are not that loud after all. They are Barons Baggers and a direct bolt on for the Venture. Made by LA choppers. One good thing, the bill should arrive about the same time I arrive in Cody. -
Now that is nice. Is the bar next to the hot tub?

Montreal is OK but places like Chicoutime (sp) etc are not so friendly. Just going by experience. Sure glad to see the results of the federal election in Quebec. My sister-in law is from Quebec and I have friends there as well.

Clean it? Next you will want to polish it. I live at the end of a long gravel driveway. I wash it and ten minutes later it is covered in dust, by the time I get to the end of the drive it is dirty.

The tradition of marines started centuries ago when British ships carried soldiers to join the sailors in fighting while the sailors handled the ship. They were called marines. I think even before that it goes back to Roman galleys with soldiers on board but I don't think they were called marines.

Had a woman in a mini van sitting at a stop sign. I was on the through road. She sat and watched me coming. We made eye contact. When I got close she pulled out and stopped, completely blocking the road. I did a panic stop while she laughed. She took off and I turned and followed her ( boss was not on board). I chased her until she finally pulled over. I pulled up beside her and just stared. She looked frightened. I did not say a word, just shook my head at her and left.

Got my Barons Baggers and put them on. Louder than I expected but I like the way they sound at idle and at cruise. A bit loud in between. On the other hand I was parked on the ferry next to a Harley with loud slash cuts. He fired up and had the usual loud exhaust. I could not resist, I fired up then revved it up. Drowned him out completely. When we unloaded he just sat there and would not move until I was well up the dock.

There was an accident recently on the Malahat, near Victoria. A suspected drunk driver crossed the line and hit a motorcyclist, killing him. For once the media is not blaming the motorcyclist. The 35 yr old female driver is being charged with DUI, accident causing death, etc. I think this is because recently the RCMP announced they were going to stop every motorcyclist they could and inspect them. This was supposed to stop motorcycle deaths. The resulting flood of letters from angry motorcyclists (mine included) has, I think, woken the media up to their very biased reporting and the police to the true cause of most motorcycle accidents. There is still a problem with young people and high performance bikes. I feel that a graduated licencing system whereby the power and performance of the bike you are allowed to ride is tied to the years of experience and even training. I think that, as a group, we should respond every time we see something in the media which is obviously biased or false. One of the things which really bug me is when you see a report stating a motorcyclist hit a car when it is obvious the car turned left or jumped a light and hit the motorcyclist.

Needed a bolt for the passenger grab rail on my Venture. Lost it on the trip to Whistler. I looked up the part on this site and got the number for it. I sent e mails to the dealer, no response. I decided to go over there and see them. Nice day for a ferry ride anyway. I ordered the part and even gave them the number. They double checked, it was the right number. They wanted to know how I had got the number. They said it would be in the next week. Next week no info. 4 emails and a phone call...no result. Another ferry ride. No record of my order. Re ordered ( $2.50 for the part, in advance, $47.00 for the ferry). Got phone call at home. "They don't make that part any more". I informed her that since they still make the bike I was certain they made the part. She had got the number wrong. Still waiting.

About 1990 my sister bought her husband a Screaming Eagle Harley. I think it has about 100 miles on it now. Most of that between their house and the shop. A friend just bought a new Harley last year. He was totally impressed when the drive belt broke at 500 miles and they gave him a $500.00 shop credit.

You think you are an old fart? Heck, I have been president of our local legion three times now. Actually, there aren't all that many old farts, mostly working stiffs.

I just ruined my windshield
Sailor replied to 54chevybelair's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Are you going to Cody or is someone near you going. I cut down my stock windshield and goofed by making it about 1" too low for me. I could bring it with me. -

While we are on the topic. I just put on a set of LA Chopper slipons. Now on deceleration I get multiple backfires. This is not good. Where I live there a lot of hills. I find that if I keep just a tiny bit of throttle on while coasting down the hill I do not get the backfiring. I have checked the caps and they are fine. It was not backfiring before. Suggestions? -
The fuel gauge on my 02 is very inaccurate. I have become quite adept at reaching under and switching to reserve while underway. The bike stutters a bit then takes off again.

I do like chili but when I make it the stuff tends to get really hot. Could be the garlic or the chili but probably the smoked jalapenos. Throw in some onion, black olives and mushrooms etc etc and you have a good base. After that I just open the fridge door, put the bowl on the floor in front of it and tip the fridge. If it lands in the bowl it goes in the chili. I would not want to inflict this stuff on anyone.
