Hey Rick...we were in my truck so could look down into the car. Ya do see interesting things sometimes.

A couple things from riding here. On two lane roads a lot of cars cut corners. They will kick gravel up onto the pavement. In that case it is best to be on the inside of the corner as the car tires clear two paths, one on the inside and one on the outside. If you are on the outside and a car cuts the corner coming towards you, you meet head on. If it has just rained do not ride in the middle of the lane as that is where cars leak oil and water brings it to the surface. When I see a car that I think may pull out or turn left or try to pass in front of me I give my handlebars a little wiggle which draws their attention to me. I always drive in daylight with my headlight on high.

Not sure about the IQ level of the young scooter riders. Saw one here texting while trying to ride on a winding road. Saw another one scooting along with his helmet on backwards! I guess he thought that was cool. Fortunately it was not full face. Passed a woman on the highway last summer. At 90 kph she was holding a hot coffee between her thighs while eating a hamburger with one hand and texting with the other. She was steering with her elbows. We got out of there fast.

Just finished the annual MS drive here on the island. Hoping for the best for everyone. -
Preliminary figures are in and it looks like $110,000,00 raised for prostate cancer research in Victoria. Last year they used some of the money to pay for 300 men to get PSA tests ($ 36.00 each at private clinic). 35 of them found out they had cancer. 35 lives saved.

Riding boots that are made for motorcycle riders.
Sailor replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Riding Gear
I got a pair of Harley boots with the metal insignia on the side. I accidentally went into a store that had only womens shoes ( there was no indication on the front of the store in case you were wondering). When I went to leave they told me they had a pair of boots they had received by mistake and would sell cheap. They are really good boots and have lasted me for many years. A friend who is in the business tells me that Harley boots are made by Hush Puppy. No wonder they are so comfortable. -

Just got an e-mail from my son in Toronto. He just moved there and wants to insure his bike but can't find an insurer as he is new to the area. Anyone from the area have any suggestions?

Back when I ran sports cars we all waved at each other, even jag drivers, except corvette drivers, they would only wave at each other
-
I try to wave but there are times you can't such in a corner or rough pavement. I would say it is pretty even with Harley and sports riders, some wave, most don't. If I can't wave I try to nod. I really don't care if anyone waves back, I am having fun.

My driveway is gravel so I have a lot of squealing caused by dust. When it gets bad you can wipe the rotors or use the anti squeal stuff for disc brakes. That works. It is the dust which causes it here.

Saw a guy on a Harley lose his leg that way. A woman was going very slowly and with traffic coming the other way he decided to pass her on the right, just as she decided to turn right. The accident happened at about 5 mph. Ironically she was turning into the hospital. -
You are going to find a lot of great places to ride here.

Went for a ride today. Passed several Harley riders. Waved at them all. Got snarled at. Guess they like to show off the bugs in their teeth. Did have one guy wave and yell. He was at the side of the road. It was an odd shaped wave, forefinger and thumb. He yelled something about a "looser". Perhaps he will be in a better mood once he gets his Harley going. Funny thing, I know some Harley riders passed him too, none stopped to see if he needed help, guess thats not cool.

I really liked that show. It ran for 20 years. I remember seeing one of those horrible Japanese monster movies involving an invasion by giant ants. I am sure it was James Arness in it. At 6'7" it was hilarious to see him save the day in his western garb and trusty winchester. all the Japanese were about waist high on him.

I will be there. Catching the 0700 ferry to Crofton then over the hat. will see you there.

Now they make replica Healeys with v8s in them. I sold mine with a broken axle. Didn't have the funds to fix it. The guy that bought it towed it away. When he went through town I got a call that some guy had my car and they were going to chase him down. I told them to forget it as I had sold it. When he got to the ferry terminal I got another call that some guy had my car and they were going to jump him. I said to leave him alone as I had sold it. When he was on the ferry I got a call from the captain saying this guy had my car and they were going to have the cops meet the ferry at the other side. I told him I had sold it. Sometimes living on an island is a good thing. The local cops called it " the incredible flying machine" .

For those who like long distance there are a couple of real interesting books out. I forget the guys names but the books are "Long way round" and "Long way down". They circled the globe then rode from northern Scotland to Cape of good hope Africa.

The mother in law was really loosing it. Everyone figured Alzheimers and were talking of putting her in a home. Her Dr. checked the veins in her neck and found they were both 80% blocked. They took veins from her leg and put them in her neck and she was her old self again.

Cager Club Sandwich.. Hold the Yamaha...Dip on the side
Sailor replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
Here we have "10% Tuesday " when everything is 10% off in the grocery stores. I do not ride on that day. It is when the blue rinse babes and bi-focal boys play bumper car tag in the parking lots. You can tell it is them by the white canes duct taped to their front bumpers. -
Used to run Avon Super Venoms on my Madura. Could get 6 months out of the rear tire, but that was mostly at 100-150 mph. Run Avon Venoms on my Venture, into my second set at 36000 k. I must be getting old, come to think of it I wanted to get old, that is why I sold the Madura.
