  1. Which way does this spacer go on the rear wheel? This spacer goes against the rear wheel bearing and is the seal surface the seal rides against. There is a raised shoulder on one side while the other is flat. Pictures of both are attached. I am assuming the raised part goes against the bearing since it is the same diameter are the inner race. And yes, those are the balls from the rear wheel bearing. Not good. RR
  2. Just got back from spending a day with all the great folks at Vogel. Saw some old friends that we haven't seen in awhile, met some new faces and put faces to names seen here on the forum. Many thank to ALL who had anything to do with putting on this great event. No names cause sure as anything, I'd leave someone out....... Hopefully we raised a bunch of money for St. Judes!!!! Great turnout and hope we will get a chance to see all again!
  3. Sailor

    Great Day

Just got back from the "Ride For Life" on Vancouver Island. 12 hour day but great weather and about 800 to 1000 bikes out. Raised a lot of money for Prostate Cancer research.
  4. A little bird has informed me that the North Alabama Road Riders have had their first fund raiser for St. Jude and they feel they have this thing in the bag. The bird didn't tell me how much they raised but I know it was a multi-family yard sale, and I know those things can pull in some dough. We are doing ours by our St. Jude Auctions and money raised by other members and the main contribution comes from Vogel. So lets not let them beat us at our own game. They are a small group of around 35-40 members , and they are all concentrated together in Al. That makes it easy for them to do things together. So anything you members can do to help beat this ragtag little group of wing riders, bring it on.
  5. Just when we hoped it was over... another 6-12" heavy wet snow forecast for the next 36 hours. This has been a brutal winter in the Northeast and I guess it's no April Fools Joke, just won't end! Got the RSV shined up, farkles installed, topped off with fresh gas -ready to ride. I'm envious of you guys that get to ride year round. Born and raised in upstate NY and love it although the weather, gun laws and taxes are making it tough to justify anymore. Awright, I'll stop whining now. Just a severe case of Cabin Fever. I feel better now.
  6. spent saturday tinkering in the garage, removed the diamond leveling links, i am 5'10" and 32 inch inseam, was on balls of my feet most of the time at a stop, not what i would consider to be ideal. so off came the links, opened up fairing and raised forks in the triple tree, reassembled and rode off. first impressions: feet now flat on the ground, much more stable stops. bike handles better at low speeds than with links, no high speed changes in handling. just a more confident feeling when stopping with a 900 lb machine. was well worth the time and effort spent....
  7. I thought it was time for an update of the past efforts of everyone here at Ventureriders. I could name a lot of people that have taken the bull by the horns and helped me in our effort to raise money for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. But being the old fart that I am my memory isnt so good at remembering all of them, but let me say that most have been raised by hosts of many of our events that have come to pass. With that said I thought you should know how successful our efforts have been up to now. Let me preface this by saying that the average for giving by motorcycle orginizations like ourselves, have an average of $2500.00. Now some of them may be smaller, some larger, but I dont think any are more dedicated that VentureRiders, we are a special breed, we are more of a family than just another riding group. Since 2005 when I put together the first Tail of the Dragon/Vogel up to now we have raised and donated over $10,500.00 to St. Jude. That does not include any of the money raised so far this year. We are lagging behind a little but I have faith that we will get quite a bit more before our annual ride to St. Jude. I want to thank everyone for their support of St. Jude. It is a wonderful research facility and until you have been there and seen it and the Ronald McDonald house across the street from it you have no idea of what St. Jude is to those kids who need it and its research. So In the next few days I will be contactinig them and setting up a date to present the monies to them in person at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Thanks again, Lewis & Charlene
  8. I have just posted 4 auctions in the classified section under St. Jude Auctions. You can click on the banner at the top of the page when you see it, or go to classifieds and select St. Jude Auctions or this link. St. Jude Auctions - VentureRider Classifieds All of the auctions are the same, you can select the size shirt when you make your payment via paypal or snail mail. Remember, all monies raised by these auctions go directly to St. Jude Childrens's Hospital. We will have a ride sometime in September to hand deliver the monies to St. Jude. Right now I have about $550.00 that has been raised so far for this years ride. I want to thank everyone here for their continued support this group gives to St. Jude and the kids there.
  9. Here are a few things I have tallied up so far in regards to Vogel 2009. Total number of bikes..........47 Total attendees.................79 Number of bikes trailered.......7 States represented..............15 Other countries represented......1 Canada Total monies raised at Tail of the Dragon IV @ Vogel....$1446.00 This amount will be added to the monies raised by Bill Predock and committee at the International Rally and from Brad Newby with Weigh In Pt. Duex. We will be meeting in Memphis, Tn. on Sept.12, 2009 , to present the monies to St. Jude. I will post the total amount as soon as I have recieved all monies. Thanks to all who made this possible, and there were many.......... :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:
  10. My wife has a short inseam and would be more comfortable with the flooboars raised. I searched and mostly found people looking to lower the boards. Has anyone sucessfuly raised the stock passenger floorboards. I don't think I want to mount aftermarket boards such as the barons.
  11. Cliff, Phil and I thought of you and Elizabeth today when we replaced our flag with the new one the Elizabeth had sent me from when she was stationed in Kuwait. I said a prayer for you and your family thanking you for your service in protecting and serving this great country as I raised the flag, and asked God to protect those in active duty today. Thank you both for such a wonderful gift. Diane and Phil Austin
  12. I know there has been a lot of talk about lift tables. I couldn't resist throwing in a thread about the one I just bought. I got the one from Complete Hydraulic. I bought the one with side and front extentions for choppers and a service jack. It's rated for 1500 lbs. I raised the scoot up on it as soon as I put it together. It seemed to be stable but I was still nervous about having the scoot raised up. Has anyone ever dropped a scoot off the table? http://www.completehydraulic.com/tcmlw.html
  13. Use caution when ordering these extra wide clamps from Choppercycle. If you look at the pictures (use Link) you will see a raised rib portion on the inside of the clamp. The raised portion of the clamp makes the clamp too small to allow the muffler to fit unless you spread the clamp open. If you spread the clamp open it will fit over the muffler but because of the extra thickness the rib presents it wil not tighten down properly on the exhaust pipe. If you want to use these clamps you will need to grind this raised portion of the clamp down. This took me about 40 min each and I went through 6 dremal sanding dics. I didn't notice this when I ordered the clamps. They do look good however. http://www.chopperscycle.com/page/VTS/PROD/42-264/24032
  14. About a year ago, I bought this nice flag & holder from a local Yamaha dealer. Unfortunately, I no longer have the packaging and I can't recall who the manufacturer is. I'll check with the dealer if no one here knows the answer. It's the exact same product as listed in the most recent JP Cycles catalog on page #54. It's listed as a "Tour Box or Saddlebag Flag Mount" (item #1500455). I'll attach a picture of it with this post. My problem is the flag pole is designed to fold down at the push of a release button and then lock in place when it's raised up. Well, the mechanism which locks it in place when it's raised has failed and now it won't lock in to the raised position and flops down by itself. So, I wondered if the manufacturer might be able to help me either fix it or replace it. It was pretty pricey so I don't particularly want to have to purchase another brand new one if this one can be fixed. Any suggestions? Thanks! Pete.
  15. Got this by email. Have no idea about how valid it may be but was kind of fun to watch. The footage first shows ground crew from America, Spain, Germany, Italy and Holland conventionally directing aircraft. As the music changes to YMCA, the 21-year-old Brit makes his impressive entrance. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leacw8H8Lrk]YouTube - How to marshall a Jet full version[/ame] The video was made by RAF staff and has raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK. Mark Coote, director of community fundraising at Cancer Research UK, said: "By raising much valued funds for Cancer Research UK, Dean also appears to have raised many a smile from the cockpit of the RAF jet fighters he helps take off and land. We salute him for his imaginative fundraising dance moves and for his efforts in helping us in our bid to beat cancer."
  16. Hi Everyone, I wanted to let everyone know the 2008 VR calendars will be available for order until Feb. 16th. To make sure everyone gets a full 12 & 24 month calendar I went in and changed the starting dates. The starting date on both are now February 2008. Any orders from today until the 2-16 deadline will receive the updated version. To date we have sold 44 units and raised $264.00 for the cause. That will help buy a lot of Water, Ice & Goodies for this years events. Let's keep those orders coming.
