  1. its all about the chrome covers, someone wants pretty badly:mo money:
  2. just removed leveling links because it made a tall bike taller, lowered fork tubes 1 inch and i am a happy camper, back to flat footing and good low speed handling:big-grin-emoticon:
  3. RAISED THEM 1 INCH, WITH HAVING TO REMOVE THE PASSING LAMPS THE MAIN FAIRING BRACKET IS COMPLETELY FREE, MADE THE FAIRING KIND OF ANNOYING AS IT FLOPS ALL OVER, MAKE SURE WHEN PUTTING BACK TOGETHER THE BOLTS ARE STARTED IN BOTTOM FAIRING BRACKET WHERE LAMPS GO OR WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE UPPER BRACKET BOLTS THAT GO INTO THE TRIPLE TREE IT WILL SHIFT AND THE BOTTOM HOLES WILL NOT LINE UP, FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY AND HAD TO TAKE 2 INNER NUTS AND 2 SIDE ALLENS AND TRIPLE TREE BOLTS OFF AND REALIGN BAOTTOM OF BRACKET, AT LEAST CAUGHT IT BEFORE FRONT FAIRING WAS BACK ON. ALSO USED MY CYCLE JACK TO LIFT FRONT WHEEL ALLOWING FORK TUBES TO PULL UP EASILY AND NOT TAKE OFF WHEEL..
  4. NOT REALLY NOTICING MUCH CHANGE FROM STAGE 2 TO 3 WITH THE ROADKINGS I TOOK THE STEPS OF OPENING THE OUTLET END BY PUNCHING 4 HOLES INTO THE METAL SURROUNDING THE INNER BAFFLE. SIMILAR TO DRILLING THE INLET END.; USED A POINTED TAPERED TOOL AND DROVE IT IN UNTIL THE HOLE WAS ABOUT 3/8 OR SO IN DIAMETER. TOOK ALL OF 1 MINUTE PER SIDE NOW SOUNDS MUCH BETTER AT ALL SPEEDS, LIKE A GROWL BUT STILL NOT AFTERMARKET LOUD..
  5. spent saturday tinkering in the garage, removed the diamond leveling links, i am 5'10" and 32 inch inseam, was on balls of my feet most of the time at a stop, not what i would consider to be ideal. so off came the links, opened up fairing and raised forks in the triple tree, reassembled and rode off. first impressions: feet now flat on the ground, much more stable stops. bike handles better at low speeds than with links, no high speed changes in handling. just a more confident feeling when stopping with a 900 lb machine. was well worth the time and effort spent....
  6. Easiest bike of the 13 i have owned to remove the gas tank and run a wire direct to the battery with a relay under the front fairing to bypass the ign switch. May consider the passing mount spacer block offered by a fellow member on this sight before installing.
  7. just listed set of diamond r links off my 2009 rsv used for 200 miles with stainless hardware inc..
  8. if you remove the top bolt first the swing arm will rise enough that the carbon one does not have to come off. did a vmax rear exchange last weekend and with the rear tire off the links were easy. didnt remove adaptor as i had it standing on the legs it came with:scared:
  9. i tried to buy the otc jack sears shows on its website from them but after all the silly sub fees the jack went from $169.00 to $276.00. googled otc on the web and found summit racing handles them. shipped to my door in 2 days for $169.99 the jack has 3 1/4 wide by 17 inches long jack pads works so nice with the carbon one stand. also has a 2 year warranty..check it out at summit racing website..
  10. just purchased leftover 2009 venture and have been gathering goodies to install. because of this great forum i have decided to install the vmax rear upgrade. i contacted john furber at his sportsmax company and discovered his business is located in catasauqua, pa just 20 minutes from my home town. we made plans to meet at his shop and discuss the upgrade. i had already removed the rear and since the bike has only 125 miles on her we used my rear and had the gears installed into it.i left the assembly this monday at 6:00 and it was done by the next afternoon. picked her up on wednesday and came home and put it all back together. while it was apart i installed the leveling links as it was a snap with no rear wheel in place. too late tonight to ride so tomorrow after work i will take her off the stand and see what she has. just want to recommend sportsmax and john furber to fellow venture riders, he has a passion for vmaxs and has opened his doors to us fellow venture riders...
