  1. I for one was glad you posted the link for the trial outcome. I had been wondering if anything was decided regarding the verdict of guilty and the associated penalty. Your post was completely appropriate for this site and I thank you for sharing the information. Your post was simply news with no other agenda than to inform. You are not accountable for any radical deviation expressed by anyone else. Not having these kinds of posts on this site, because we would be afraid to post something, would ultimately lessen the value of this forum. You are an excellent member to this forum and we are better with your participation. Below is a reminder of what a forum should be. fo·rums also fo·ra (fôrhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/prime.gifhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/schwa.gif, fhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/omacr.gifrhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/prime.gifhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/schwa.gif) 1. a. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business. b. A public meeting place for open discussion. c. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website. 2. A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation. 3. A court of law; a tribunal. and thank you.
  2. Did you flip the gas tank's petcock to reserve? Or is yours already on reserve? I usually will be sputtering after around 12-15 miles once the low fuel indicators initiate. At this point I can usually get ~4+ gals in the tank if I refuel shortly after this happens.
  3. I just ordered the Morgan CarbTune Pro today. When I receive it and sync my carbs I will let you know how out of sync it was and how the bike feels after being synced.
  4. Great - I was hoping that would be the answer. My 06 has never had the carbs synced. Now with nearly 20,000 miles, I am thinking that getting the carbs synced will give the old girl that crisp throttle I use to have when she was new. Thanks
  5. I decided to buy the Morgan Carb Tune Kit. I have read the excellent how to articles which is why I decided to sync the carbs myself. The process seems straight forward enough for me to do. The Morgan Carb Tune website and others talk about "5mm and 6mm adapters". I am unsure as to how these "adapters" are used in the syncing procedure. How are they used and were do they go??? Thanks Dave
  6. I have a friend with a bad back and knees, put a Voyager kit on his Ultra Classic. He loved it so long as he never got into a position to have to back it up. Fortunately, he could turn it around on a dime with the Voyager kit on. Boy a reverse gear would be perfect for a rig like that.
  7. I found this website today which shows how riding jacket air bag technology works. I have heard very few comments about this type of riding jacket nor have any direct experience with this jacket. The technology seems very interesting but I wonder about reliability. The technology appears to be the same technology used in the old style buoyancy compensator used in scuba. I know from my scuba diving days however, the CO2 cartridge was not considered reliable in the old style buoyancy compensator (BC) which is why the new style BC's do not use them anymore. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this jacket or technology? Has anyone seen any reviews or product testing for this jacket? http://www.crashbounce.com/howitworks.asp

  9. I bought mine last year on ebay. The seller was Republic Cycle. The transaction went perfectly. They still have the tank bib listed for sale, check below, but if Hopnel is no longer making them it will be while supplies last. I really like mine. I keep my mp3 player, garage door opener and compass tucked in there. I mount the mp3 player to the velcro on the pouch when in use, push the bottom of the pouch to use the garage door opener button. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-VENTURE-HOPNEL-Tuxedo-Tie-TANK-Panel_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a2Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1205Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem2ea6a2121dQQitemZ200364134941QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  10. The tank bib will easily come off. To get to it you will need to remove the seat and the ignition cover. Once you have the seat off you will see how it is anchored to the tank. The ignition cover comes right off by removing the two screws at the top of the cover. The bib has an adhesive backing but will pull off. Any residual adhesive can be easily removed. Don't forget to post photos of your new paint.
  11. I could be wrong on this but are you sure the blue one is an 06 model year? I thought the colors for the 06 model year was black cherry, which is what I have, and the Midnight. I did not think that blue was an 06 color. You may want to do a little online price checking to be sure that is a great price not just and ok price. I are some members here that wanted to sell their bikes. Check the classified here too.
  12. Just a reminder to be sure to torque the axle to 58 ft lbs - the axle clamp bolt 14 ft lbs and the caliper bolts to 29 ft lbs.
  13. I had an 01 Vstar 1100. I put on the Baron's BAK kit with the Barons carb kit, Roadhouse complete exhaust system (2 into 1 style). It was dyno tuned. The dyno showed about a 20% increase in horsepower and torque on before and after runs. The seat of my pants really enjoyed the new performance. I have read that the hypercharger is difficult to get the carbs right, which is why I went with the Barons BAK which includes the complete carb kit for the BAK.
  14. I have always preferred leather bags over the painted ones so when I found Troy's products on Ebay I bought them. They fit great and are wearing very well. If you look at my gallery photo you can see them on my RSV. I would highly recommend Troy's leathers.
  15. After you get signed up for the "Charter Member" and the "Book of the Month Club" program then they will then "nominate" you for the "Lifetime Member" and refund the initial $24 Charter fee. (Applied to the new fee) The Lifetime fee however is around $350 but you get a free leather jacket, hat and other junk. Remember you are an elite select few to get a "free" Riders Club jacket for the mere $28.75/month for 12 months Lifetime membership. If you are considering it for the "free test products" don't expect much. Word has it the first item you get is a cheap tire gauge. Sorry to be so negative about this but I am tired of this sort of crap.
  16. I know some towns have strict noise ordinances. One that come to mind is Carefree, Az. I was reading an article about Az bike week having a field day with out of towners driving thru Carefree in particular. Might be wise to put your stock pipes on or at least pack them.
  17. I was also considering a Shark evoline. I found this review on the helmet. It seems to have some strong but also weak areas to consider depending on what is most important to you. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/shark-evoline/ The biggest short coming for me is it does not come XXL.
  18. I changed my plugs for the first time this past winter at 16,000 on my 06 RSV. I am sure the plugs could have gone a lot more. I agree the 8,000 mile recommendation is wasteful especially with what you must do to get them. Since the stock plug (NGK) worked very well I simply replaced with the same plug. I bought them however at the local NAPA store instead of at the dealer. Much cheaper. Since I had the tank off for other 16,000 mile maintenance work it made sense to change the plugs at the time.
  19. Ebay "bargains" are getting more and more scarce. Very few actual auctions. Mostly "buy it now" at above retail with shipping added. I look at the RSV listings often but mostly never find anything worth while. Have any of you wondered why you would strip down an essentially new RSV "in good running order" just to part it out on ebay? Why not sell the bike intact? Strikes me wrong.
  20. I used duct tape to remove those pesky stickers off the windshield and tank. I first heated the sticker up a little with a hair dryer then applied a strip of duct tape over the sticker. Cover the entire sticker with duct tape and press it firmly onto the sticker. Let the warmed area work a little on the duct tape. When I slowly peeled the duct tape off the sticker mostly came with the duct tape. Dapped a fresh piece of duct tape on the remaining pieces of sticker to finish removing the rest.
  21. I hope you used a credit card to make this purchase. If so, you should be prepared to call them soon. If you think enough time has past, your credit card company can recoup your payment and cancel the order.
  22. Do you use any kind of "tire dressing"?
  23. I finally got to ride yesterday with the deflectors on with cool weather. My feet felt the engine heat more with the vent closed than before I installed them. Felt good! Now I need some hot weather to see if they do a good job cooling.
  24. A friend of mine had his RSV in this past December. He said he paid 1200 but that included 2 new tires too.
  25. Is this the first time you replaced the clutch fluid on your 99RVS? What did the fluid look like thru the sight glass?
