Remember the rule about never buy a first year model car, it has all the bugs, whereas the Taurus has been around long enough to have those worked out. Plus the Chrysler 200 will be the first model since they got bailed out which means no track record. Chrysler cars before the bail out was rated the lowest of any brand. They couldn't give them away. Just trying to help you

I left the tank blank/plain. I have been thinking about some pin-striping accents but can't decide on what to do. Mostly I like the plain clean look. -
Unbelievable, Oregon will spend millions to run this near minuscule revenue stream. This is what gives government a bad name. http://news.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/dx/electric-motorcycles-if-they-dont-get-you-one-way-theyll-get-you-anyway.htm

I recently started target shooting over this past winter. Guns in general and shooting has become habit forming just like riding. Funny thing about guns and shooting compared to bikes, they both consume a good deal of

Anybody like the new $33,000 Indian? I sat on one and my leg rested on the motor and exhaust while standing it up. Did not feel very comfortable to me. I wonder how long the deep pockets will last to keep the Indian afloat. I liked the more open layout with this years show and how they displayed the custom bikes. Seemed like there where fewer vendors this year. All in all great way to spend a February Saturday afternoon. I actually found a couple nice bargains too.

Floorboards and heel toe shifters were made for each other. While I do not power shift with the heel shifter I do like to use it with casual cruising.

That is exactly how Geico wanted to save me 15%. When I asked to increase the limits to match my current policy limits Geico said that their policy limits could not be changed to meet my current policy limits. So I said that you can only save me 15% by lowering my coverage limits. Agent agreed. The premium was only a few dollars less for a lot less coverage. Bottom line is premium rates can only be compared by exactly the same coverage limits otherwise you will likely be disappointed. Geico is a perfect example to that kind of sales technique.

International Motorcycle Show - How was it?
Chinto replied to Yeah, Just Dale's topic in Watering Hole
Yea that is why I go every year. It helps to break up the winter. -
Ditto, Completely agree with above. Also if you do rent something (car or bike) the farther off the main tourist area roads you go, especially into mountain areas the more likely you will find bandits. Current warnings are tourist shoud stay in the tourist areas. Other things to do while in Mexico. 1. Calamari and a beer on the beach 2. Massage on the beach 3. bikini watch on the beach 4. have a beer on the beach 5 oh yes go to the beach 6. most important go have fun!!

Did you keep (relocate) the auxiliary plug that was on the cassette player? Your new glove box would be a great place to have that plug in for an mp3 and/or a usb port to charge the phone and/or mp3. Looks great

Electrical capacity
Chinto replied to Sandbagger's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have done the above also with a Battery Bug monitoring the battery draw and stays in positive charge so I thought everything was good. However, I would like your opinions as to whether this amount of electrical load will potentially damage the stator if run this way for extended periods? Or, is it if the stator maintains positive charge on the battery even with the load everything is operating within the operational parameters. Or, Is it if the amount of load is more than the stator can keep up with then damage would occur? The reason I ask is because I had to replace my stator last May. Tech said I had burnt wiring. All is good now but I worry about this now. -
Tips for BUB slip ons

Tips are mounted with 2 pop rivets. Very easy to install. -
I have bought tires from Motorcycle Superstore with no problems. Fast delivery. I have also bought tires from Dennis Kirk. Motorcycle Superstore says it will price match but would not price match Dennis Kirk who was lower this past fall when I replaced my front with Elite III's. Every tire I have bought from either of these stores were dated no more the 6 months old from my receiving them.

Thought I'd Like Louder but....
Chinto replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I liked the BUBS that came with the bike for the first few months of the season then the sound became intrusive for the long rides I typically do. The next season I put the stock exhaust on and enjoy the peace and quiet of the open road. Loud pipes don't save lives - Defensive driving saves lives! -
Once you get it running again be sure to check the voltages when the bike is running. Sometimes the charging components need replacing. My 06 RVS had to have the stator replaced which was why my battery needed replacing this past Spring. The observation that tipped me off about this was the battery tender would take all night to recharge the battery after a ride whereas in the past it would almost immediately show full charge after a ride.

I had Rick "Butlerize" my seat. Best mod for riding comfort. You will be glad you did the mod when you are on the long distance rides.- 10 replies

Heated gloves will definitely solve the problem for you. Instead of running the wires to the gloves in my jacket I have them running along the handlebars with about a 16" lead length to plug in the gloves from the handlebar. The lead length gives me sufficient hand mobility without any interference from the wires to operate the bike. The leads are plugged into a rheostat (which is velcro'ed to the dash) to control the temperature. The rheostat is plugged into the power line that connects to the battery under the gas tank. The setup works very well for me. When I am not using the gloves I wrap the lead wires to the handlebar's existing wiring harness which makes it nearly invisible. Caution -Do not use the auxiliary plug to power the gloves. If you do the fuse will blow when to turn on the passing lights.

I have used heated gloves for several years (Gebrings) and have never had cold hands on the coldest of days. Grips will not keep the back of your fingers warm on the really cold days.

No I would rather have the RVS The GW would not fit in my garage. Really the only thing I like about the GW is the reverse gear.

I read an article some time ago which stated that the deer's hearing range is essentially the same hearing range as humans. Therefore if you can not hear it the deer can not hear it either.

I bet mastering the controls takes a lot of practice. Very cool!

I get my Seafoam at Menards for $6.50 a can. They usually are well stocked in the automotive section. You have a big Menards at I-80.

Things to look forward to going wrong
Chinto replied to djh3's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Your warranty is 5 years from the date it was first titled without mileage limitation. So depending on when it was first sold (07, 08, 09) you could have a lot of warranty left. It would be 5 years from the date is was first sold not necessarily the model year.- 13 replies

Let's talk battery tenders
Chinto replied to Mel's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
What I have learned this year is that if the battery fails in-spite of being on a tender then make sure your stator and/or rectifier is working properly. My battery seem to fail this spring by what I thought was not fully charging. What it turned out to be was the battery was being drained while riding. Once the stator was replaced everything returned to normal charging.
