I am glad to hear you were treated fairly and the problem resolved. But - If a retailer knows what happens when they send out an old tire, why do they keep doing it? Knowing that the profit margin will be reduced with the exchange process wouldn't the retailer want to remove it from the picker's stack? Or are they just hoping the new recipient won't check the date?

If the reset/breaker button does not help sometimes a generator needs to be flashed especially if not used much. The link below offers a how to info. http://www.dieselduck.net/machine/03%20electricity/flashing_generator.htm

Me too! And I think that winter should be skipped entirely this year. I serves no useful purpose. For those that like to ski and snowmobile, that is what Canada is for.

Where and how did you strap or hook the bike to lift it? Just the back end or the entire bike? Sounds like a good idea.

At the $140 quote it would be cheaper to buy the adapter to bring the wheel in to change. The best part is before to re install the tire you can lube the hub and spindles which the dealer will never perform.

Can you hear your fan?
Chinto replied to jrsain's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Never heard the fan run. I have watched it run but even then I do not hear it. -
I hope that includes the tire and the tire is an E3. Then your talking $30 for labor which think is fine but should only take a 30-40 minutes to change not 2-3 days.

I would not do it. I guess you can place blocks to build around the frame/motor but your bike will be at the highest level of the jack. The adapter makes the bike very stable way up high on the jack. I would be nervous that the blocks would move and cause your bike to fall.

I got tired hearing the grinding sound every time I made a slow speed stop. Even though the pads were more than 50% I changed the pads and serviced the caliber and have not heard that sound again. Don't know why it started but the cure seems to be simply replace the pads.

Check the vent tube coming out on the left side for oil. Often occurs if the oil level is to high. There should be about 3 tubes extending down below the frame. If one of the tubes is very oily check the oil level.

I put the Commander on the rear last year thinking I would get the front a few months later. Well that was after they stopped making them. So I ended up buying the E3 on the front. So when I replace the Michelin it will be with the E3. I won't be going back to Michelin. I think they did a very poor job of replacing the tire line. An entire year + with no replacement choices - bad management on Michelin's part.

My 01 V Star 1100 ran great on 87 octane from day one as the owners manual indicates. Put over 30,000 miles on before I traded it for my 06 RVS. It only have one battery replacement in the entire time but I use a battery tender. I doubt that only 5 miles a day would consistently fully charge the battery. Average gas mileage was 49. I had a stage 1 kit installed so it was quicker that stock but never needed higher octane gas. Premium gas is just a waste of money.

Motorcycle Superstore has a spot on their website to show you the shops in your area that will do the service with their pricing. I found a bike shop in my area that would do the job for half of what the dealer would. It is at least worth a look. I bought the tires at Motorcycle Superstore they shipped to the bike shop, I called for an appointment. Easy.

This post is not to start any arguing about helmet usage. It is simply information from new research published this year about reduced neck injury in motorcycle accidents because of helmet usage. It seems to show a 22% decrease in neck injury from those without a helmet. http://www.news-medical.net/news/20110210/New-research-Motorcycle-helmets-appear-to-reduce-cervical-spine-injury.aspx

My history with Dennis Kirk for tires has been great. Bought my E3's from Dennis Kirk this past September 2010 and the date code show them to be manufactured in March of 2010. The previous set of tires for my RSV, which were 404's, were date coded 8 months prior to my receiving them. It is definitely good advice to check the date code of your tires because as they say your results may vary.

I have used it on both my cars and bike. It brings a nice shine to the paint. Is it superior to McQuire's -- No not really.

Were you listed as the only driver for both bikes? Then maybe the policy only covered them one at a time since you were the only driver instead of two separate policies were both bikes would be on the road at the same time.
