If the only options are what your saying then maybe the Honda Goldwing Airbag system may be the answer. Check the YouTube test crash video link below. Honda says you may very well survive the impact compared to a bike without an airbag. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdEPp38xMGE]YouTube - Honda Goldwing, crash test ADAC. I went from BUBS back to stock mufflers. The BUBS had no fiberglass packing at the time. Since I changed back to the RSTD OEM muffler I have put fiberglass packing in the BUBS but I have not reinstalled them on my RSV to see if they are as quiet as stock. I really like the look of the RSTD OEM mufflers compared to the BUBS so I am not in any hurry.

I like following the big river routes. I would recommend following the Mississippi River all the way up to Minnesota. I have attached a map that came from the State Of ILLinois tourist website. The scenery is very nice the closer you get to Galena. Never been to Minnesota so I can't say much about the scenery there but north of Moline thru Galena is very nice.

Looks great! -
Maybe consider giving positive feedback because the transaction was completed without hassle but just state as part of the feedback that the item is - OVERPRICED This way you keep the emotion out of it. You did not unjustifiably mess up anyones feedback score but told everyone who looks at that item to consider the price. This is no different than buying something at Home Depot to learn later that you could have bought it at Menards for 20% less. Which is why I very seldom go to Home Depot.

Wow, I would have made that mistake for sure. I was thinking about getting a small air compressor too. I need to stop looking at it like a car's cigarette lighter. Thanks

best tire recommendation
Chinto replied to kingtut's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I finally had the new front tire installed this past weekend. I decided on the E3 MT90B 16. I chose this because the specs on the tire compared to the Dunlop 404 listed it to be .43" smaller diameter than the 404s which is what I was replacing and .54" smaller than the E3 150/80/16 tire. While .43" don't sound like much I was hoping that I would notice better foot contact since I am 5'6" with 28" inseam. The result is a combination of changes that include the seat being Butlerized which helped a lot initially and now this new tire I feel that I have better foot contact while riding solo and much better when riding two up. So I am recommending this tire not only for the excellent handling features it definitely provides, but if you want to slightly lower the bike this tire size MT90B 16 (instead of the 150/80/16) also helps with that. I am not completely sure if I am simply noticing the difference of a new front tire or this tire's features because I have only had 404s on my RSV, but I am really liking the new feel the Michelin Commander on the rear and the E3 front has made. It seems quieter smoother and much more responsive. -
Removing Water Pump Drain- TIP!
Chinto replied to RSTDdog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
So how much residual fluid remains if you don't open this drain? A shot glass? A cup? More? You suggest that it is hardly worth the effort, especially if you change the antifreeze on a regular 2 season schedule which means the fluid still looks clean. If we are showing only a shot glass worth then I would see no point either. -

I am in the same circumstance. I am trying to decide which size E3s to put on the front. The OEM size E3s 150/80 16 or the slightly smaller MT90B16. Which one did you decide on and why? -
All the information is tied to the vin #. When I went in for warranty work at a new dealership I simply brought my sales papers with the numbers on it for the service writer. Everything was smooth sailing from there. Replaced the stator (2010) and the rear shock (2008) under warranty.

Thanks Mike for the info. I did not realize that the difference in steel belt vs bias ply changed the aging. -
Differences between Dunlop Elite 3 front tires
Chinto replied to Chinto's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mike when you get your tire would you let us know what the date stamp marking is for the tire? I am concerned that it might be an old tire. When I talked with Michelin apparently this European made tire has been out of production for awhile. Thanks -
What is the difference between the Dunlop Elite 3 front tires listed below. Since they are different prices and weights (by $16.00) there must be some significant difference. The only thing I see different is the Aspect Ratio. Which one is best for the RSV? Dennis Kirk lists both tires for RSV fitment. What I really want to know is which of these two tires do I want and why one over the other? Would I notice an Aspect ratio difference from 80 to 90? On Dennis Kirk site more people reviews the 90 Aspect Ratio tire. Is that because it is $16 cheaper or a better ride and life? One other detail, I am considering the Dunlop E3 because I can not get the Michelin Commander which I already have on the rear. Michelin has no idea when the 150/80 16 may be available. My Dunlop 404 front will need changing before to very long so I thought the E3's would be a good alternative choice. But which one??? What do you think???? $107.99 * Dunlop Front Elite 3 150/80H-16 Blackwall Tire (1 Review) weight 17.70 pounds Dennis Kirk Part #: 543447 Manufacturer Part #: 407989 Aspect Ratio: 80 Construction: Bias Position: Front Rim Size: 16 Sidewall: Blackwall Speed Rating: H Tire Classification: Touring Tube Type: Tube or Tubeless Units: Each Width: 150 Compared to: Dunlop Front Elite 3 MT90HB-16 Blackwall Tire $91.99 per tire (14 Reviews) weight 16.06 pounds Dennis Kirk Part #: 542887 Manufacturer Part #: 407990 Rim Size: 16 Width: MT Aspect Ratio: 90 Construction: Bias Position: Front Sidewall: Blackwall Speed Rating: H Tire Classification: Touring Tube Type: Tube or Tubeless Units: Each

Looks like you could make your route based on pastie locations. How about reporting back to us as to how you liked each pastie location? You know 5 stars for out of this world. 1 star would not feed it to the dog. http://www.mackinawpastie.com/

When mine was replace at 15,000 it took around 2 weeks from the time I brought the bike in to getting it back. So you should be good for Sturgis. The next thing to go on my bike was the charging system at 21,000. Might want to check it before Sturgis.

You could use a volt meter to find out if your battery is at full charge (~12.9+) with bike turned off. Then get a reading with the bike running. If your charging system is running properly the volt meter will read 13.5+ while the bike is running. If you see the same reading while bike is running on the volt meter as with the bike off, you should have your charging system (stator/rectifier) tested. That was what was happening on my bike plus the voltage would gradually become less has I continued to ride the bike. That is basically what the Battery Bug does real time 24/7, it monitors the voltage of the battery and charging system while your riding. Google B[]Argus Battery Bug[/b] to get all the details of this product.

Here are some photos of were I placed the Battery Bug. Now that the stator has been replaced (under warranty) the Bug is showing normal charging voltage numbers. The Bug is only attached with Velcro so I can easily pull the Bug out of the way to view the brake port glass or other maintenance needs. Great product. I highly recommend it.

Another factor in insurance rates is your credit rating. If you check the fine print on your premium notice you will see that they check it to partially decide your premium. You are entitled to receive a copy of what they used to determine your premium. So the question is have you checked your credit rating lately to see if anything bad is happening to your credit rating?

I found it on Ebay for $10.74 - Buy it now with free shipping. Type in the search window Genuine Pro Honda Moly 60 Paste New in Package to find it. It is a Honda dealer selling on ebay.

This is a follow up to earlier posts, but thanks to the Battery Bug I installed with the new battery I was able to monitor the charging system which was in fact bad. The longer I rode the lower the voltage on the battery would get to the point the Bug's alarms would sound indicating low battery voltage. Not having any previous experience with this I did not know what normal was until I talked with Ruffy. I compared his running numbers to mine which made it very clear something was wrong. I took the bike to the dealer this week for testing and was advised that both the stator and the rectifier were "burned out". So the parts are on order and should get it back next week. Thanks to the Bug I avoided a road side failure. I am glad I added the Battery Bug because now the first sign of voltage drop I'll spot it right away. The Battery Bug gets a :thumbsup2::thumbsup2:

Yes I really liked the Skyway. I thought it was a much better ride than the Dragon because the Skyway lets you see great panoramic views. The Dragon is mostly a tunnel.

This is one of my favorites from a ride we did on the Cherohala Skyway at highest point.

Ditto exacly the same for me except I replaced my rear with a Michelin Commander. Hoping to get back to the 12-14000 mile mark again.

No, It has started normally the entire time. The only thing that I have noticed is that it takes a lot longer time for the Battery Tender to bring the battery charge up to full charge. In the past the battery would almost immediately be showing full charge anytime I would plug the Battery Tender in. Since I hooked up the Battery Bug I can watch the voltage slowly drop as the bike sits. Since the battery is 5+ years old I was worried it was becoming weak. After I install the new battery I will watch the Bug to see if the new battery's charge is drained as a clue that maybe the charging system may have a problem and then get that tested. I am hoping that the old battery just needs replacing.

I am in the process of replacing my battery. I hooked up the Argus Battery Bug this past weekend and it indicated that my battery has 22% life left. The Bug's instructions say at the 10% warning alarm imminent failure at anytime, replace battery immediately. Anyway, I have been looking at the Deka ext20L. In the process I see the Big Crank ext20L appearing to be the same battery. Are the Deka and the Big Crank batteries made by the same manufacture in Pennsylvania?
