stock exhaust mods
footsie replied to krotchrocketgrampa's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Take the stock pipes off, use a dremel tool with cut off wheel, on the outlet end. This works better if you have the dremel extension set, but you can do with the dremel. Use the cut wheel to cut the tube approx 1 and 1/2 inches inside the outlet end of the muffler, then push the tube to one side. thats it put them back on and crank her up. -
I have been using mobil 1 15-40 in mine with no problems, its got 58,000 miles on it and never had and clutch problems. except whine.

Skeptical after all noise complaints
footsie replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine has the loud whine of any I have ever heard, I just turn up the radio and cruise on, love the comfort and handling, am going to change the clutch basket one day when i get around to it. mine is a 2000 with 58,000 miles, great reliable machines. Will buy another venture as soon as this one dies. but I keep her well serviced, so I hope that day will be well past 200,000 miles. Freedom of the rroad for everyone Gregg -
Guys you can take a dermal tools with a cut off, stick it up the end of the stock rsv mufflers, make the cut as deep as you can reach with the cut off tool shaft. all the way around the tube, then simple pry the tube to one side, they sound great. Not too loud, but give a good glass pack sound on accelleration. I love mine take about an hour to do, you will need a pack of the dremel cut off wheels, they are easy to brake. They sound way better than the harley mufflers, matter of fact as friend of mine is looking for a set off of a tour deluxe for his electra glide. try it you will like it. Gregg

Cut down windshield
footsie replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You can by the show chrome windshield from parts unlimited for less than 100 dollars. It is 4 inches shorter and 2.5 inches wider. I love mine, the extra hand protection is great in cold weather, almost no wind hits your hands. ride on Gregg -
foot pegs on a venture
footsie replied to krotchrocketgrampa's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I hate the boards too, my solution was to mount a set of pegs just ahead of the floorboards on the crash bars, its cheap and gives a good riding position. I ride alot with my toes on the pegs and heels on the boards, gives me the feeling of control. ride on Gregg -
Bike not running right - HELP PLEASE!
footsie replied to Yamaman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Have you checked the intake manifold, mine cracked on the right side and would not run properly, glued the crackes with epoxy glue and the bike went back to running right. Gregg -
I bought a new 1973 CL350 from honda of albany for $795.00 brand new. That don't sound real these days. First big bike was 1971 cb750 Honda, bought it in 1978 for $500. Still have it. Gregg

How long will it live?
footsie replied to spyderhead's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
There is one in fitzgerald ga, with 278,000 on it, still a daily rider its a 1999 venture, has had reg quaker state oil in it since purchased from martin motors. Jim martin said they have put three clutchs in it but no other internal repairs. They may whine but they do hold up well. -
try using a primer before u repaint.

Got 500 miles on my nexum 165/80/15, the only difference I can tell is when heavy loaded in a hard curve. No problems just a different feel. Have 7500 on my uniroyal 205/60/16 on the valkyrie, no problems will never ever put a motorcycle tire back on the rear of it. Sounds like a ground problem to me. Gregg

Looks good to me, i assume its a ridding bike not a show bike, so that makes it a beautiful job, especially if your happy with it. From the pics its appears you did a very good job with the paint. A good friend of mine says if anyone starts inspecting youe bike so close that they find your flaws, "tell them back off their fogging your chrome". Freedom of the road for all. Ride carefull gregg:12101:

I have a red 2000 VGenture with 53,000 miles on it. Bike is in good shape. Runs great, has had regular service intervals. The deal with this bike is when it was new it was dropped at low speed and was damaged. The owner who bought it had a replacement policy so the bike was replaced for him, then repaired and sold with a rebuilt title. The only part the original owner said was replaced was the left hand frount crash bar and the left hand saddle bag was repaired. The fairing has a couple of small cracks in it, that the second owner, who i bought from, told me he did when he let it fall over in the carport while cleaning it. Not done in the first mishap. Thanks Gregg
