I run 0 in the rear, and 2 lbs in the frount, but I have stated I think the venture is a great handling machine, granted if you are sitting still with the handle bars turned all the way left the bike becomes unstable, this is where most drop the venture. Handlebars hard left while stopped with left foot not completely firm on the ground, equals VENTURE down. for those who have dropped one think about the position you in when you dropped, how many ever dropped on to the right side.

I really don't know the tire only had classic written on it, the local dealer I bought from said he thought it was built by cooper tire for another company, built to the other companies specs. Had a great looking tread but like I said I personelly know of three that the bead broke before the tire would seat. But it was not a MAXXIS MC tire, it was a ct radial. If says classic on the side I would avoid it, I just did the post so maybe noone else would try, my dealer ate the cost even after I offered to pay anyway, but most would not because of the application. Gregg

Guys don't try the classic radial, the bead breaks before the tire will seat, I blew one at 85 lbs, and another biker trying to mount one on a magna rear wheel said his blew at 85 lbs. That make the third one that the bead broke. Gregg

I feel for yall up north. My insurance is with grange here in ga. My RSV, the wife's road star both with full coverage, cl 360 and the cl 100 have liability only. and my insurance payment is $290 yearly for all 4 bikes. Ofcourse the biggest things is what ins companies don't tell you, my motorhome ins was $85 per year for liability, I thought full coverage would be to high, but after hearing what windshields for them cost I decided to check on full coverage. To my surprize it was $124 a year. The old travco now has full coverage plus. I don't really know what the plus included but for $144 a year I thought great. The windshields are $3000 installed, $144 dollars yearly would be cheap if they were to get broken. Gregg I don't know if Grange is in canada, but If they are check them out.

The reason harley using the same stuff and dose not change the looks is because true harley guys do not want them changed, the 2010 should look almost like the 1950. That is big deal at harley, to modernize depenability and performance without changing the look. I personelly would love to see yamaha put fuel injection on the venture, put gauges where the cassette is and leave everthing else well enough alone. I love the bike, the way it handles, mine is almost as smooth as a goldwing on the road, and very comfortable. Gregg

There is a pack in my 2004 was there when I bought it. Gregg

Guy's I really don't understand the handling issues. Both of the RSV's I have owned, handle great to me. Much better than the ultra I road. ( a ultra handles sluggish and awkward at slow speeds to me, honestly if I had to ride a dressed harley I would quit) I have no low speed issues at all, I am have a 2004 RSV with kumho radial on back. With the brickstones the ride was awful and changing the rear did make a little improvment in handling but not much, improved the ride 100%. I am 6'1'' 240lbs, and know that the venture is a bike that you have learn. I do know I guy in tifton that have a RSV and he could never get use to it, he dropped the first day he had it and was scared of it from then on, could not get comfortable with it, so he sold it. The only advise I can give is don't ride two up until you toltally comfortable with the bike. Take the brickstones off and put radials on, and give yourself time with the venture you don't have to become a master rider in a day that takes miles and experience. Sometimes an experienced rider changing bikes has to take time to adjust to the new machine. Greg

I prefer radials, bias ply tires is old, out dated. Bias ply tires have been obsolete on cars since the early 80's, actually demed unsafe on auto's. why is the motorcycle industry so far behind.

I use mobil 1 4T motorcycle racing 10-40 in my 2004, change every 5000 miles. My bike does not chrip or whine. I have been using mobil in my bikes for years and have never had a problems with it. Use royal purple in the wife's road star, but that's what the previous owner said works well in it, and on folks on the road star site agree. Gregg

165/80r/15, no problems with speedo on mine.

The RSV all the way, I have a 2004 RSV I just love, forget the tape deck, put a XM radio on patched in through the aux port and ride. Gregg

I hate to hear about anyone seperating, seems like very few couple stay together anymore. But we can all pray for you, hope your pain can be eased soon. Gregg

I love the showchrome shield, the wind from the trucks on the interstate have less effect on the bike with the shorter windshield. Its all I ride with. Gregg

On a majority of products there is no difference in the product just the labeling, oil are the same way. Most of the time motorcycle labeling is just that, a label. I was once told that chevron delo 400 could not be used in a wet clutch, strange about that is the old caterpilliar motorgraders had wet clutches, shared the engines oil, we typically put 10,000 hour on a clutch. Most any oil you chose to run will work, only the 5-20, 10-40, energy conserving should be avoided in a wet clutch situation.

Gregg Remember ride like there is no right of way on a bike. Yeild to everything!!!!

Harely Davidson Daytona dealer Killed in Crash.

I feel for Bruce's family, my heart goes out to them and his friends. There is only one rule biker need to ride by in my opinion. We never have the "right of way", always ride like a little bug that can get squashed at any moment. Because it can happen to anyone, just one carless or I can get by this time, my be your last. RIP Bruce, many in daytone said he was a great guy, only met him once. But then I don't ride harley's. Gregg -
My 2000 was the noisiest engine on a venture I have ever heard. My 2004 is one the quietest motorcycle engine I have had. After I changed to the mobil 4t racing 10-40, it super quiet for a venture. Gregg

If all harley parts are made in the US, explain why most of the parts the my friends order for their bikes, ordered from the local harley dealers, when take out of the box has Made in taiwan on them. A friend of mine just received a carb, which came from the dealer, Genuiene Harley Davidson on the box. Made in Japan on the carb.

I am 100% sure the brickstone is my problem, it has plenty of tread and I am taking it off. Cobra is ordered. and I can't wait to have a great ride again. If someone was to give me me a new set of bridgestones I assure you I would throw them in the dumpster where they belong. Gregg
-
When you do get to the avon cobra radial on frount, I think you will find that all of the handling problems are gone, completely gone. even with 35 lbs in the kumho. Ordered the cobra for My o4 yesterday. Gregg

IT comes down to the difference in bikers, on one hand you have bikes that worry about every noise, even if its indiginous to the bike. Like the C-50 you reffered to, or the valve train on a yamaha road star. Personelly I have seen people do far more damage to bikes trying to fix something that can't be fixed. If it is not broken don't try to fix it, is always the advise. But some folks love to tinker and always will. As you said do the schduled maintenance and ride, and I have over the past 35 years put over a 200,000 miles on several vehicles doing just that. Gregg
-
What tire do you have on the frount, some of the bias frount do not work with a radial on the back, my 2000 RSV had the wiggle above 85 mph, until I put a avon radial on frount, then no wiggle, no problems at all with ct on back. Gregg
-
I put XM/sirius radio on my RSV, went in fairing unpluged the wire going to the tape deck aux port, plugged up and ext set, placed the Sirius antenna on the trunk rack, its magnetic so it just grabs on. Mounted the receiver on the right side master cylinder. Works great, what ever I want to listen to, no tapes, no cd's, no batteries. no little box to keep up with. just music with no problems, $120 yearly. And yes it been in the rain several times, no problems. Gregg
