  1. OMG, I am so sorry that you had that problem and glad that it relatively well and most important.........no road rash. I hope the rest of your trip back today is uneventful. I rode to work yesterday and am quite enjoying the 1st gen. I took ALicia for a ride after work last night and she likes it and might even like it more than the 2nd gen. I was loosing juice fast last night while we were riding and when we got back I only had a about 2 volts left on the battery. I tried to start he again when we were back and there wasn't enough so I put it back onto charge overnight again. Something seems to be keeping it from charging while riding, not sure what yet but I'll get it figured out.
  2. Why yes it is a pretty blue.................two tone even, wonder who used to own it Cliff told me that you had it before him which is a bit ironic since the backrest on my RSV was from you old bike.
  3. Yea, that was me...........I used to snore quite loudly, at least that's what everyone told me. Not sure why, but according to the kids and my girlfriend I don't snore much anymore. Even though I don't have much experience with the 1st gens I am quite excited about having one. It is the best possible replacement for a 2nd gen and so far I am loving it.
  4. Finally found a deal to work and I am now the proud new owner of an 89 Venture Royale:cool10:. My 07 RSV is headed South shortly with Grey Ghost. It was with a heavy heart that I had to let the 07 go, but was eased by my new addition. Rode the 89 into work this morning (1st time riding a 1st gen) and it is much different than a 2nd gen, but I loved the way it handled. Gonna get out tonight after work and take my girl for a ride (she already loves it after sitting on it last night)and the kids are quite excited about getting their first ride when they come back tomorrow night.
  5. Thanks guys, my stock battery will no longer hold a charge and I need the most cost effective choice for now. I am still trying to sell, but more preferably looking for a trade deal. I really don't want to sell at all but I need to get rid of the payment and just don't have that much time to ride anymore. The last 2 years have been rough, but I am doing well now just that life has become crazy busy.
  6. I need a new battery and can't seem to figure out which one from Advance Auto, Auto zone, or Walmart will work. Anybody know which one will fit my 2007 RSV?
  7. Ok, this morning I tried starting it again and it was weak at first but after about 1 minute she picked up and seems to be running normal again. I guess whatever was gumming the carbs moved out, but I will get some seafoam and put in it and let it sit over night and then take her for a long ride tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas guys.
  8. I know I have been away for awhile, but I have a problem with my 2nd gen. I went to start it yesterday and it wouldn't start. It turns over, but will not stay started for more than about 15-20 seconds. I started it at full choke and it seemed fine and then just kind of fizzled out, it seems like a fuel problem. It cranks fine, and turns over fine the 1st couple of trys, but just won't keep the rpm's and when I cut the choke back it dies. I have not had any problems with starting until this and it had only been 1 week since I last rode with no problems. I have about 80 miles on this tank of gas and thinking that it may be the fuel filter or a batch of bad gas. Any ideas?
  9. Thanks to all of you for your words of support and prayers. We are working through the negotiations ok at this point and hope that continues. I have refinanced my bike and will be able to keep it for a while at least. If things go the way I hope, I will not have to sell it, but even if I do I'll still be around here. I have meet so many great friends here and do truly appreciate all that this 'club' has given me.
  10. Thank you to all of you, i really appreciate all of you. This has been going on for a year now, but really more so in the last 6 months. While i knew this was coming and had to deal with all of that, I have had some things complicate the situation in the last month or so. Those of you that know me know how much my kids mean to me and how i am with them. I am having to make some sacrifices and compromises that i didn't want too to protect them beyond what I already would have for their benefit. I don't want to, or mean to, bad mouth my ex but she has lost her mind and she has started to really worry me lately.
  11. I know that i have not been around here a lot lately, been lurking here or there, but really have not had time for much in the last several months. My wife and I are getting divorced and things have been crazy and will continue to be for some time. This was not my idea, but like it or not I have to move on and take care of the kids and myself. This is kind of a complicated story, but I cannot talk about it too much at this point because I have to do somethings to protect my kids. Unfortunately, one of the things that I must do is sell my Venture. I will be putting it and some accessories up for sale very shortly. I really hate to do this, but do not have a choice with the situation that I am in and trying to sort out all of the finances. It will not be too long though before I get another one, but may need to go to the darkside and get a 1st gen for a while. I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers, I NEVER thought that I would have to deal with all this and it is truly still dumbfounding for me.
  12. This project is already at my mechanical limits, I am not sure I am ready to tackle resurfacing rotors yet. Plus, I have to ride an hour to met breaking parts to have him help me with this project. I do use my rear brake heavily, but they still should last at least 12k miles. For some reason my rotor is grooved and eating pads more wuickly now. Not sure exactly what happened, last pad change I did with 13k miles and had at least 2k miles left on the pads. Dealer says the caliper is good, but I guess I'll see once we get the new rotor on.
  13. Well, I got my bike back today from the dealer and they said the rear caliper was working fine. Since there is not a problem with that, they will not cover the rotor under warranty. I have ordered the new rotor through cyclebrakes and will go see breaking parts to help me put it on once it gets in. The dealer wanted about $400 for a new rotor, pads, and labor.............less than $200 if I do it.
  14. So at you'lls advice, I am going to take the bike into the dealer tomorrow and try to have them cover this problem under warranty. I have taken off the trailer hitch, I figure it only takes a few minutes and takes that issue out of the mix. Hopefully they won't have the bike too long, but I figure at least a week if the cover the repairs. I will also say that cyclebrakes has been great to work with so far. I called them today and placed my order for a new rotor on hold until I can figure out if the dealer will cover it.
  15. Do you think they will give me a hard time about my trailer hitch? or should I just take it off to avoid the potential hassle? I'll give them a call tomorrow, but I am afraid that with the way they are I'll be without my bike for several weeks.
