  1. Polish with what? I have tried car wax on my windshield, but it seems to make it worse in the fog.
  2. My wife and I got caught in the rain once on the interstate and we got wet before I could stop, but that didn't bother me as much as not being able to see. I have an '05 RSTD with a tall windshield, and I wear prescription glasses without a face shield. The combination of water drops on the WS and my glasses made it feel dangerous. We are planning a trip this coming week and it looks like we may run into some rain. Any of you have any pointers for me to improve visibility?
  3. That's a good looking bike. Looks like new...
  4. That looks like a great trip. Did you do it alone, or with a passenger?
  5. No it's not. I went to the closest dealer to me and it took him about 5 minutes. He told me to bring my bill of sale (or title) and my driver's license. It was surprisingly easy.
  6. Now I see why sentences and paragraphs were invented.
  7. Am I the only one that the link doesn't work for?
  8. We should have made better plans. I was at the Dragon Sunday, and I missed RedRider who rode down. There were 2 other Royal Star riders and our wives. We would have loved meeting some of you guys.
  9. I've been wearing some thinsulate mittens when it's around 32 degrees, and they're warm, but it worries be because they're so thick I'm afraid if someone pulls out in front of me, I can't get the brake lever quick enough. I'm going to get some 12V gloves very soon.
  10. Let me ask a similar question. I have absolutely no experience with motorcycle communications. What would I need on a RSTD to be able to talk to my wife and maybe listen to music. I have nothing now, and I'm very ignorant when it comes to electronics.
  11. As I understand it, there's a member here who will rebuild a seat by hollowing out the foam and inserting a more comfortable material. Have him hollow yours out and leave it hollow.
  12. Wow, very nice. I'm impressed.
  13. I don't have one of those in my car.... That must be one of those luxury models...
  14. If everything works out like we planned, My wife and I will be going into Maggie Valley by way of 129 tomorrow with a couple of friends and their wives. Our plans are a little shaky right now, but maybe we'll see you. We all 3 will be riding black RSTDs. The weather is supposed to be nice. High in the 50s in the mountains.
  15. That makes sense. I was just wondering why it was reading higher now than right after it was changed. Thanks guys.
  16. I did my first oil change this week (2005 RSTD). I filled it to middle of the sight glass, started it to make sure the oil filter was full and checked it again. I had to pour a little more in to get it back to the middle. The thing I have a question about is after I rode to work and back the next day, I looked at it again and it's all the way to the top of the sight glass. Is this normal? Should I drain some out?
  17. Thanks for the great report. I'm kinda new to riding again, and haven't made any long trips yet, but I hope to soon. I hope when I do get to that it goes as well yours.
  18. It wasn't right after the Tennessee-Georgia football game was it?
  19. Yep, that's it.
  20. When I took my safety rider course my wife went with me and rode the course with me through all of the obstacles. A couple of the guys couldn't believe it, they were grinning and high fiving us every time we completed a portion of it. One of the guys told us we were his heroes. I told him we nearly always ride together so it was only natural we would do the course together. It made us both feel good to do it together.
  21. I just started riding again after taking a 25 year break. The coldest I’ve ridden so far was 38 degrees and that was this past Monday. I plan on riding at least another month, but I’m going to have to buy some cold weather gear and maybe a full face helmet. I tell you those lower fairings are great though on the RSTD. My feet haven’t gotten cold yet.
  22. I just wanted to throw a couple of kudos at a vendor I had good dealings with. I just got my RSTD a month or so ago and I missed the backrest I had on my V-Star. I searched and searched and finally found the one I wanted at "Scootworks" I placed the order online and called the next day to see when it would ship. I got a machine and thought that would be the end of that. I've gotten so used to no one returning my calls. Well an hour later a friendly lady called and explained that they didn't have the backrest in stock, but they should have it by Monday and I would have it 2 days later (this was on a Thursday). I never really expect anything when I'm told to expect it, so I was thinking maybe the following Friday I'd have it. Well to my amazement I found it on my front porch the next Monday 2 days quicker than I was told. I like to ***** when I get bad service, so it's only fair I rave a little when the service is good. 23. Hey it's a convertible, so you're not fully caged... Hang around
  24. If it gives you any idea, I just sold an '02 V-Star with 24,000 miles on it for $4,800. I could tell much from the pictures you posted, but it sounds like a steal. I have a set of barely used stock mufflers I'll let you have cheap if you're close to Ktown.
  25. Great pictures Ebat, thanks
