  1. Quote "Let me know if anyone knows of MC boots size 14 EEEE" Bigfoot Let me guess where you got your username...
  2. Yamaha FJR1300 2 moxie, 9 zeal and 0 pomp That sounds like me, but I'm not familiar with the bike. I want to ride one now though to see how it fits.
  3. I knew I'd get some good suggestions. I knew I could go online and look, but I figured there would be others besides me that have come up with some good ideas like the Sansa Clip from Sandisk. Thanks guys....J
  4. Another vote for ugly... I think they look more like a scooter than a motorcycle from the front. My dad always said "opinions are like a--holes, everybody has one".
  5. This may sound stupid, but I'll try my best to keep from it. When I had my V-Star I had a small radio that I carried in my jacket pocket on Saturday mornings to listen to NPR. I am addicted to the Saturday morning NPR shows, and Saturday morning is when I do a lot of my riding. Anyway, I must have left it in the windshield pouch when I sold the V-Star, because I can't find it. I thought "no biggie" I'll go to Radio Shack and get another (I bought the old one at a garage sale) well all I can find are Ipods. Ipods are fine for music, but that's not what I used it for. I also used the radio while working in the yard. I guess I should clarify the fact that I have an RSTD. The bike that's kinda like a Venture except without a radio . Anyone know where I can find one?
  6. When I joined I had a V-Star 1100, but I sold it and now have an 05 RSTD. How do I change it where it shows up under my username?
  7. I just bought an '05 RSTD with Bub's and it does the same thing. I test drove 2 others before I bought this one. One had Bub's and the other had stock exhaust. They both popped on decel. The one with stock exhaust was quieter, but you could hear it. I don't know what it is but it seems pretty common.
  8. I know they're not the only ones. I was fueling up beside a Gold Wing the other day, and he finished first and pulled out. I could hear his bike whine all the way up the interstate on ramp.
  9. Thanks Bobby! I've been riding it 3 days now and I'm loving it... It seems to ride better every time I get on it.
  10. I looked at your link, but the ad wasn't very informative. Is that a cigarette lighter type receptacle?
  11. I am the proud new owner of a Tour Deluxe and an old owner of a Magellan GPS unit that my wife and I use on all of our car trips. My question is: Has anyone here seen an aftermarket power cord that can be wired to a bike? I'm not worried about the mount, I can fabricate something. Thanks in advance...
  12. Well, when I get the fever I can't be stopped. I test drove another RSTD today and no whine whatsoever. My wife Karen went with me and after about 3 miles into the test ride it hit me... no whine!!! I bought it on the spot. So now I'm online looking at chrome goodies for it, even though I've no money left.
  13. I have read tons of reviews about the bike. 99% of them were positive. I want the bike so bad I can taste it, but I've ridden 2 of them (the 2nd one belonged to a friend of mine). His didn't whine nearly as bad as the one I was thinking of buying and it had Bub pipes on it. I think what I'll do is keep looking until I find one that isn't as bad. My wife went on the test ride with me, and she said it sounded like the Jetson's sky car. I guess I could just pretend I'm flying to Spacely Sprockets.
  14. I have heard this over and over from owners. That's what made me think I wanted a Royal Star. I was really disappointed when I heard the whine. Other than that I thought it was a great bike.
  15. I just started riding again after taking a 25 year hiatus. When I got on the road the first few times, I was a nervous wreck. I thought every car I met was going to swerve into my lane, and every car pulling out of a side road was going to pull right out in front of me. I think you will relax after you've got some more miles under your belt. My wife and I just got back from our first over night trip and we both had fun. She had never ridden a motorcycle ever! We did take a rider safety course together which I recommend to anybody. She said that it helped her feel more confident in my ability as the rider. I'm sure that if you 2 rode together before that you will be able to do it again. My wife and I like to take long slow scenic rides together, out in the country. I find it relaxing. Good luck!!
  16. I bought a V-star after 25 years of non-riding. I discovered I still love riding and surprisingly so does my wife of 2 years. I say surprisingly because she had never ridden before I bought this bike. We like it so much that I thought about buying a RSTD for more comfort on longer trips. In fact I had fallen in love with them until I found one that I thought was a good buy. It was an '05 with 4K on it. I had the money in my pocket and was ready to buy until I test drove it. It had a loud whine every time I gave it the slightest bit of throttle. I ran from it, but after reading up on it on the internet it seems to be common with this bike. My question is, if you have this whine do you get used to it, or does it finally drive you crazy? Jim
