RSTD parts for sale!
eazyduzzit replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Man I would love to have those 4-2-4s, but I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel and can't afford it right now. -
It warmed up today...and then it snowed money.

I think most people are good, but lately it seems like there are a lot of bad influences out there. -
handle bars

I changed to Flanders. I like that so far I don't have the shoulder pain I used to get with the OEM bars. I am not crazy about the position I am sitting in with the Flanders though. It may just be that I'm not used to them yet, but I feel like I'm leaning back with them. I haven't ridden on any long rides since I've had them. -
One positive side to all of this. I deal with a lot of customers, and the conversation always ends up being about the economy. For the past few months, I've heard a lot of people say "I'm just grateful I've got a job". I think it might be good for the country that we can be grateful for the most basic things again. I always try to look at the bright side of things, and to be grateful for what I've been given.

Nice bike! I'm sorry to see you're having to sell. I sell parts to trucking companies, and several of our customers have gone out of business. My business is slow right now, but we're hoping it will turn around soon.

K&N Air filters 2nd gen
eazyduzzit replied to CMIKE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I bought the chrome covers at Ron Ayers Motorsports. They were $30 cheaper than the cheapest place I could find, and no shipping charges. I did kinda like George Harbour described. I sliced the raised area away with a bandsaw, then cut away all but the outer plastic part with the foam on it and glued it over the hole with silicone. I couldn't believe you had to buy $100 filters to make the chrome goodies fit and so I didn't. -
That's the most amazing thing I've ever seen!

The only one I've used is Cars Inc. on Callahan Dr. They do a lot of work there, and they did a good job matching the paint on my truck.

Hey neighbor! (I live in Knoxville). I'm sorry about your saddlebag. I know that would make you sick. A friend of mine had his lid open on the saddlebag and accidentally ran into it and cracked it with his other bike. Ouch! Holler at me sometime and we'll have a cup or go for a ride. Jim

White Diamond brand metal polish. We sell it at work, and it's also the best aluminum polish I've ever used..

If the house has been vacant and the heat and air weren't on, then everything would expand and contract more than if it was running. You can probably just fix the bad places and be alright.

One last time: THE 'WHINE'!
eazyduzzit replied to Bluesman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I test rode another bike before riding the one I have now. They were both '05 models, both Tour Deluxe, both had around 4,000 miles on them and both were the same color. One had a loud whine that would have bothered me. The one I bought has almost no whine at all. Every now and then I hear a slight whine, but it's not noticable. -

I had it figured out before I was halfway to the end of the list. I think it might have been harder if it were written Banana, Dresser, Grammar, Potato, Revive, Uneven, Assess instead of in a column. It made it too easy to see what they had in common.

I think he means celsius.

Good luck to anyone who is quitting. It's hard to do, but if you can stick with it you'll be glad you did. It's great to be free.

New Idea for Air Filters
eazyduzzit replied to dlhoulton's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Good article Dennis. I think the stock air cleaners on these bikes are so ugly. I don't know why Yamaha hasn't done something to make them look nicer. I think yours look really nice in comparison. I ordered the Yamaha chrome covers, but haven't put them on yet. I started a kitchen remodel on New years day, and it's taking up all of my time. -
Most of the grown-ups I knew when I was a kid were smokers. I started smoking at 10 years old. When I met my first wife who hated the smell of cigarettes I gave 'em up. I don't miss them at all.In fact I can't stand the smell of them any more and most of my friends are non-smokers.

What happened? -
I wear tennis shoes on my Tour Deluxe. With the lower fairings my feet never get cold.
-
Man I miss those days. Tackle football in someone's back yard with no pads, swimming in Beaver Creek with the turtles and snakes, but no trunks, rock climbing and caving with no ropes or other equipment, going fishing with $1 worth of equipment (4' of line a float, a hook and a stick for a rod), seeing who could climb to the very top of a tree without getting chicken, riding wheelies on bicycles and counting how many "pedals" we could go on the back wheel. We built those wooden "go-carts" that we'd ride down the huge hill in the cow pasture across the road. No brakes and you had to steer with your feet. We never had cell phones but each kid on our street had a car horn "Morse code" that meant to get home NOW! My 2 brothers and I had 2 long blasts on the horn and we'd better be home quick. We built tree houses in the woods from scavenged lumber, and we always had a rope swing that would break and nearly kill whoever was on it at the time. No wonder I have so many aches and pains now (40 years later).

I didn't buy a jacket, just the gloves. I wish I had made my own, or bought some other brand.
-
This may not work for yours but I bent one of mine forward and I just shoved it with the bottom of my foot. You could say I kicked it, but it was more of a shove. I had my brother sit on it and hold the brakes on while I finessed it.
-
Have you jacked it up and spun the front wheel to see if you can see anything?
