  1. I get no buffetting at all on my '05. The only problem is in rain. The WS is too tall to look over the top.
  2. You'll want to do the Cherohala...
  3. I have an RSTD and haven't really looked at Venture prices, but that sounds like a bargain.
  4. I have an '05 RSTD with low mileage, and if I wind it up pretty good before shifting to the next gear it shifts really smooth, but I'm just cruising along at low RPMs and shift up a gear it's kind of clunky. I run Rotella 15-40 oil.
  5. I was backing mine out of the garage one day about a month ago onto the gravel driveway. I wasn't going anywhere, but I was working on a woodworking project in my "shop", and didn't want sawdust all over the bike. After the initial hump outside the garage it's a slight downhill, and I was coasting backwards very slowly and going to park on the grass. I've done it dozens of times. Well anyway, to make a long story endless, I wasn't paying much attention. I had my right hand on the front brake and my left hand on the seat coasting back and it started falling over. It was like slow motion, and I couldn't hold it. It went all the way down on the grass. Luckily it didn't hurt anything but I learned how heavy it is when it gets past a certain angle.
  6. FYI I was in charge of our company picnic a few years ago and I hired Buddy's to cater it. They have some of the best BBQ I've ever had.
  7. That is cool! Very inventive, we need more of that in America...
  8. addicted1 You say the only mod is K & N filters. I'm just curious if you checked it before you put those on and if so, did it make any difference?
  9. I ride an RSTD and am doing a kitchen remodel. I always jump on the bike when I'm going to Home Depot or Lowe's only problem is I can't figure out how to tie sheets of plywood on.
  10. I have the same problem as you say your wife does. I got a blue jean jacket at Sears that I usually wear. For some reason the mesh jackets make me feel like I'm wrapped in saran wrap. I know that makes no sense being mesh, but the denim is much more comfortable.
  11. Add me to the surpised about the RPM gripe list. I hardly ever even get into 5th gear on this bike. It's just chugging at 70 MPH. I will admit I avoid interstates when I can, but when I do get on the big road, this thing just hums along at 80 in OD. You must be riding in 3rd or 4th.
  12. My favorite Burma Shave sign series... Don't lose your head To gain a minute You need your head.... Your brains are in it. Burma Shave
  13. I like the Custom World International backrest, and Flander's bars. Welcome to the site, by the way.
  14. I have the RSTD. I like it a lot, especially the cruise and the 4 banger. I'll have to admit, I would like to have a trunk and radio. In a few years, when I get my house and truck paid off (2012) I may spring for a new Venture. I don't see how you can beat it with the looks, the comfort and a five year warranty. Now I have to disagree on a couple of points. I have ridden all winter on the Tour Deluxe and only got cold on the coldest days (in the 20s) With the lower fairings the only thing that got cold is my hands. It has a very large windshield and the combination of lower fairings and engine heat kept my feet warm even with tennis shoes on. The seat is also pretty comfortable for a stock seat. I may opt for the Rick Butler mod when I can figure out how to ride while my seat is off in the mail. Not because I am uncomfortable now, but because of all the raves I've read on this forum. It must be good. I tell you what though. The best thing I've seen so far is Bobby Duck's "Ultra-Star".

  16. Dark Side of the Moon or Led Zeppelin II
  17. I must have poked your flag a little too hard Don. I made it say Oh!
  18. Nice lookin' bike, but who's the ugly dude in the first pic?
  19. Don't be so hard on yourself. Being a girl probably has nothing to do with it. I didn't have my V-star long enough to change the oil, so I can't be much help, but good luck with it.
  20. I will say this about the E-3s. I do like them. I had a Bridgestone on the rear before and it roared around curves like a truck tire. The E-3 one also seems to handle better.
  21. I have an '05 RSTD too and I'm running the E-3. They give the size in an odd configuration. I think it is MV85B15. They have a fitment guide on their web site, but it says it's down for maintenance right now. http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tirecatalog_tire.asp?id=86
  22. You know what, I never even noticed that the city was shown on the right hand side. Thanks for this thread. I have been going to the person's profile if I wanted to know where they were from.
  23. I would really like to have mine synced. I have only had my bike a short while and I have nothing to compare it to, but I think they might be out of sync. Would you come to TN. to do it?
  24. Good for him, I think that's great! I don't blame you for being proud.
  25. I weigh 198 and my wife weighs about 140 I'm guessing. I can't even tell when she's on the back, unless I do something stupid and she slaps me upside the head.
