  1. Thanks Randy ! No replies yet.
  2. Hola, Not sure where the best place to post this is but I need a rear caliper for a 2008 RSTD and a rear disk. I know i can find them online (expensive) was hoping someone may have one just laying around they would part with for a reasonable price. Thanks SJ
  3. I missed putting the collar on the rear wheel which in turn caused the disk to rub the caliper and took out the disk, caliper, bearings and seals. Stealer wants more than I can afford to fix it. Told the wife saving a buck is not worth it in this case. Anyone have a wrecked 2007, 08, or 09 RSTD? Looking for: rear caliper for a 2008 RSTD Rear Disk
  4. Going to be a long post. I have an 08 RSTD and lost the rear brakes a week ago today. This is what I have done. 1: Bleed breaks traditional way 2: Replace Rear pads notice pistons were frozen on curb side. 3: Removed rear caliper cleaned and split caliper. Cleaned all cups and visual check of all o rings 4. Reinstall Caliper bleed brakes still no luck (Pistons are functioning now.) 5: Clear fluid from lines back bled brakes This worked for a day and back to the pedal to the floor. Last night I drained all fluid and back bled again. I have pedal until I push on it twice and then no pedal. I can pump it up only to loose the pressure at the next test in say 60 yards. I have no fluid leaks, hoses appear to be fine. If when I bleed the brakes leave it set overnight I have pressure in the line until I use the pedal. Seems to be failing under load. I have not rebuilt or replaced the master cylinder. Stressing I have a 500 mile ride next Saturday and would like rear brakes. Any suggestions other than take it to a stealer? Thanks in advance SJ
  5. Sounds like the BUBS Sleepers are going on your bike. They sound really goood. If you have a wife this is a good reason to get em. Husband to wife: Hi honey, have you ever heard the saying "Loud Pipes Save Lives"? They also say visibility, visibility. This means additional lighting. Well, I was trying to give us every oportunity I could by trying the modification myself. I have been on a forum and they said this modification could be done. Well it's the last time I go looking to save money on the internet. I have to replace my slip on pipes. fortunately I only ruined half of them I stop before I went to far. Sorry my freind I had to do it. I have been there. Look at Phat Performace. They are cheeper than any where else that I have found. That is unless you find some advice more helpfull than mine.
  6. Hola, I ride a 2008 RSTD it has between 11 and 12k on it. The only thing I have done is replace the stock air filters with K&N's. I hit reserve at about 140. I figured my gas milage on 135 leaving a bit of fudge room incase I need a gas station. I figured I am getting 32.5 mpg. I am doing a 4K roung trip this summer and trying to figure costs. I ride 80 miles a day round trip to work and 98% of the ride is highway miles. Anyone getting better mileage and if so what have you done to increase it of have you done anything? Thanks In advance SJ
  7. I am sure it was hard to tell at 50 but once you realized it was an MC (with Rockers and All) I might have pulled over and waved them on after the fact. With of course my high capacity MAG in my .45. There would have been nothing you could have done after the fact. The feathers were ruffled and they were going to prove a point. I have been around the type and when the point needs to be made (in their perception) there is nothing that can be done but either fight or take it. My 2 cents
  8. Awsome thanks very much... Just what the DR. ordered
  9. Ok I can't find it.... I am pulling my wheels to have the tires replaced. I think it was this site I saw a very good post with pics on how to pull the rear whhel and grease the rear berings. Any body know where it is? Thanks SJ
  10. Thanks for all the information. Can one of you get the tire sizes front and rear for both the Avon Venom and the Michelin Commander. Again I have a 2008 RSTD. If not I can contact one the dealers on the internet.
  11. Thank you all for your input. I am going to look at the commanders and make a decision from there. Again Thanks ! Freekin 10" of snow here last night and today. Good way to save the tread on the tires but I am ready for Spring. It has been a long winter in CT.
  12. I am very close to tire replacement. Currently the stock Bridgestones are on there. I ride 80 miles a day to work and home minimum. July I will be riding a 3000 mile round trip to Oklahoma. I have been reading a bit on the tire front but am unsure which way to go. Back with Stock or move to Avon Venom. Any experience in this realm?

  15. Hola, My first post on this site. I am syre the air filter replacement procedures are not difficult on my 2008 RSTD but I am not sure of them. Do I need to remove the cowling? Are there any technical docs on this subject? Thanks:97: Knifeeven
