  1. There is a Mustang seat and i think a Utopia backrest on it already. seems to feel ok just to sit on it but havnt gon any farther than just around the parking lot at work and it seems to fit me ok and the leg position is better than on my 85 G1. Brian
  2. just teasin,,,,,couldnt resist....
  3. Thats an awful lotta work to expect a guy to do just for a carb synch... But if he is game for it........:rotfl: Brian
  4. A friend of mine is putting his baby up for sale and its a 2001 Valkyrie Interstate in a gorgeous red and all the safety chrome. I am disappointed that Honda didnt put Cruise on these machines, but Audiovox makes a universal unit that will work that I can install if I buy the scoot. Do any of you knowlegable experts know if these units have any gotchas that I should be looking for? This Interstate has about 35k miles on it and has been garaged and has new tires on it, with no scratches or marks anywhere. My total price will be 9000 bucks. Brian
  5. Most of us find that if the oil is more than halfway between the marks on the sight glass you will get oil in your breather box making your air filter a mess and oil will drip from the tube below that. I have a spin on filter adapter and mine holds almost exaclty 3 liters (quarts are almost exactly the same size) but depending on your style of adapter kit you situation may be different. I would put in 3, start it for a couple of minutes and then let the bike sit for 30 minutes and see where youre at. (make sure youre on level ground) Brian
  6. Ponch and your whole family is in our thoughts daily. We are all pulling for his recovery. Thank you for the updates! Ponch is important to so many of us from across the continent! Brian
  7. this far North, those things only work well for June, July and Aug, the rest of the year the sun starts to get too low in the sky to get much of a charge. And in Dec/Jan our daylight is only about 8 hours and the sun really doesnt get very high in the sky. brian
  8. Still hoping for the best possible outcomes for Ponch and his family!!!!! Brian

  14. I think your best bet would be to check ebay, ive seen them there pretty regulary as its not a part that breaks all that often.... Or check out Pinwalls store in ebay, they have tone of venture parts, but you will probabaly pay for from them. Brian Here is one but not your colour,,,,, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/yamaha-1984-XVZ1200-VENTURE-ROYALE-top-shell-cover-/130510579067?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e6309657b Here is another that may be closer to your colour.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/84-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ1200-SHELTER-AIR-BOX-COVER-/200629290975?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eb67007df
  15. uneven oil in the fork tubes? Brian
  16. I am assuming that the Canadian Speedo is showing the higher speed in kilometers, not miles per hour. Brian
  17. I would find that confusing too. I remember seeing on quite a few of pinwall's pages that they dont (or wont) respnond to emails. There are postings on a lot of their pages saying to just use their toll free number. You may be waiting a long time for an email response, and if a call is free I would go for it. But I would ask them to send you an email stating the mileage so you have it in writing.... Brian
  18. I read around a month ago that RickH still had one of Marks Tubing Collectors for sale. Maybe zip him a Pm and see if its still there. Brian
  19. the VRO group here is great but if there arent too many VRO members in the Halifax/DM area maybe try looking up the CMC (Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers), I know there is a chapter in your area. THey have regular rides and rallies and its free to join. You can be as active as you like, or just a once in a while rider. BTW they have no politcal, religious, or gang affiliations, its just a riding club. here is a link http://ride.canadianmotorcyclecruisers.ca/ , you can sign up there if youre interested and someone will send you and email with more info. BTW you can tell them that friesman1 (1st officer Regina SK 042) sent you Brian
  20. I just did the swap last weekend, my odo quit on the way back from Cody. I was going to just to a complete instrument pod swap with an spare pod from an 86 but i got it installed and the tach wouldnt work and then realized it didnt have the wiring for my cruise, doh! SO i had to just install the speedo and it was pretty straightforward except for the dimmer (it has a tiny phillips screw in the center that I didnt know about). Before the swap when my speedo showed 100kmh, my gps was showing i was going about 97kmh, now when the new speedo is showing 60mph the gps is showing 66mph, could be a recipe for a ticket. I was looking and think the the faceplate is only 2 more screws and am kinda thinking about changing them so the guages match,as the mk1 are deep black and the new MK2 are a dark grey colour. Brian
  21. i just swapped my speedometer out for the same issue you had. I am noticing that the miles/hr is showing slightly slower than my gps when travelling at 40mph. When I was travelling with the old speedometer it was always slightly faster than what the GPS was showing. I noticed the slight difference in faceplates I was going to swap out them out, and that will put me back into KPH again and make my speedo a bit more to my liking as I prefer it to show a bit faster rather than slower. Brian
  22. Here is a link to a Netherlands Venture site that has posted the 83-85, 86-93 and the 99-2010 Owners manuals. It also has access to the Service Manuals as well. http://www.yamahaventure.nl/en/usermanuals.html Brian Thanks to the Venturists in Holland for putting these books online.
  23. Still thinking of ya, Ponch, I hope you recover quickly and as painlessly as possible. Brian
  24. crank up your air suspension as high as it goes and then park your rear tire on about a 3/4 inch square of plywood. then it should be easier to get on the center stand. Brian
  25. I would put the bike on the center stand and have a goodlook at the side stand switch wires etc. Then i would put the side stand down and apply pressure to see if your radio comes on, you may be able to see movement somewhere while it is on the center stand. Brian
