Be aware of your debit / credit cards while traveling
friesman replied to Lone Eagle's topic in Watering Hole
Rick, I hope youre letting Nina do the finances in your family....lol! Actually Vic, this is why I usually pay cash now for my gas while travelling, as I got caught in Los Osos with both my debit and credit cards shut off as I had filled at the pump a lot while travelling down to Venture West back in 08. Everytime i filled at the pump the fuel companies put a preauth amount on my credit card or debit card of around 125 bucks and a few of the bills took up to a week to reflect the correct amount. Coupled with the fact my bank was trying to protect my cards because they saw usage away from home, they shut off any purchases just when I needed my card to pay for my room for the week. it was after hours and the Motel6 wouldnt allow me to use their phone. so thats when Jack stepped in and used his card so I could get my room for the night and sort the situation out. Now, everytime I travel i advise the banks and credit card companies where and when I am going so they dont shut me off from my cards, BUT i NEVER pay at the pump while travelling anymore because i dont want a 125 dollar preauthorize charge on my card or debit every time I fill up my bike. It just ticks me off that they want to put a hold on my cards for that large amount when all I am charging is 20 bucks.... Brian -
AW cmon, Dan, you know the contractors are more afraid of the Warden than you, so you might as well ride up for the meet!!! Brian

I would like to push it all the way through in one long day. But, it shouldnt be too bad, provided the heat stays around 90 or below. Thats why I am leaving Regina ealry in the am, so I can get a good sized chunk of the trip done before the temps get up. Brian

I think i would see what your supplier would say about replacing that. Arent bike tires only sposed to be used up to 5 years? If thats the case you only have a bit over a year to burn it off... Brian

Personally I think you have to expect to see some kind of virus anytime you go into a location where a lot of people are meeting up from a lot of other places. I dont think its anything to worry about, but its good to be aware of the situation so thanks for posting. Just wash hands frequently:backinmyday: and maybe carry a bottle of hand sanitzer with you and you will probably be ok. Brian

the plan so far is to leave town around 6am Saturday, so its cool starting out, Head straight south on highway 6 , make the Border crossing at Regway and be into Glendive MT before lunch where tentatively going to meet up with Russ. (i think I can find it, i dont think there are any corners or turns the whole way if you look at Google maps.....LOL) From there head to Billings on the interstate and then into Cody. brian

My 85 went exactly the same way, and I understand its a breakdown of the vinyl as it ages in the sun. I found a new seat to put on my scoot, by i understand quite a few people just have the seat recovered by an upholsterer for a fairly reasonable price compared to a new seat. Brian

I am pretty sure we can check out one members new Spyder out at the Cody rally in a couple of weeks. We can see how it handles thru the twisties, altitudes, and dodging bear. Brian

enjoy! Montreal is one of my favourite cities to visit. It feels like youre in Europe with all the cool architecture and the cosmopolitan attitudes of the French speaking population there. The numerous bed and breakfasts are a real cool way to get to see the real Montreal and not pay the high room rates of the hotels. Brian

Best wishes and good luck being sent to you and your mom. Keep positive for her, and remind her that 90% of all thyroid abnormalities are Not cancerous,......... even if it is cancerous the thyroid is probably the best place for a successful treatment. I know all this as i just got a negative thyroid biopsy back myself yesterday so I did a lot of research in the 2 or 3 days waiting to hear the results. i am sure it will be fine for her as well, she may need to take some pills but she will be fine. brian -
When i was in Florida in January we went on an everglades tour and the grizzled old tour guide fed every gator in the place. He had 3 or 4 right up to the side of the boat with the hamburger buns he was tossing into the water for them. brian

Need Ride height measurements.
friesman replied to Flyinfool's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Jeff If you put in progressives, you can find a smaller spacer, or, do what Rocket did on mine and not put any spacer in at all. It looked like my bike was going to way to high in the front with the spacers in so he left them out and I am fine. Most of the time I run no air in the tubes, but every once in a while i do inflate them up a bit just for fun. Brian -
