  1. This evening, whenever I click on the 'go to new post' chevron to the left of a thread title, I get this: [h=2]vBulletin Message[/h] No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator These are in fact new posts that have been posted since my last visit to that thread. The workaround: When I click on the thread title and then to 'view first unread', I arrive at the newest unread reply. I would like to save a few clicks, so please restore the 'go to new post' chevron functionality. Thanks.
  2. Dang, I went on a ride yesterday - "locally" - within Northern Calif. - travelled about 400 miles. A few minutes ago, I got a text message on my cell phone from my banks' FRAUD unit asking if I purchased $126.00 from a fuel dispensary - press (1) for yes or (2) for no - I immediately pressed (2) for no. I just called the Fraud division - and verified all the gas purchases yesterday (highest was $13.00). Also, shared with them - and the credit card from that bank - that I was traveling to Cody over the week and 1/2 or so (if Toto doesn't get us lost - ) - and the bank made those notations for both of my cards (or at least they told me they did). NOW, I just get an e-mail from the bank. I don't know if this is general practice, specific to Chevron, or what. I topped off the tank (4) times yesterday. At least here in Nor Calif, most often you cannot put more that $75.00 in your tank at one time - the pumps automatically shut off, so I don't understand the reason for such a high pre-authorization. What is scary about the pre-authorizations shown below is that yes - I did stop at those Chevron stations - but I was home by 7:30PM!!! Here is a cut and paste of that e-mail: A pre-authorization at an automated gas dispenser $126.00 at chevron 00205216, an automated fuel dispenser was approved in CLOVERDALE, california United States on or around 2011-07-16 at 8:33PM (I actually filled up here at 5PM). 3) A pre-authorization at an automated gas dispenser $126.00 at chevron 00092039, an automated fuel dispenser was approved in FORT BRAGG, california United States on or around 2011-07-16 at 6:32PM (I actually filled up here at 3PM). 4) A pre-authorization at an automated gas dispenser $126.00 at chevron 00205216, an automated fuel dispenser was approved in CLOVERDALE, california United States on or around 2011-07-16 at 2:21PM (I actually filled up here at 10:45AM). NOTE: If the dollar amount is not identical to what you show in your records, this may be due to the transaction being a pre-authorization for the final purchase amount. For me, anyway, this is scary - as having that many pre-authorizations could potentially screw someone's card up - I might think. At the end of a day, I was very glad the fraud department called me - however - who gives some of these vendors - or corporate office - that right to slap such a high pre-authorization on someone's card? Sorry, had to vent and/or maybe share some info. I have never had this problem traveling within the State before (and I travel a lot on the weekends up and down the state on the bike) - but had I not seen that text message - or on the road to not get my e-mail this could have gotten ugly (I normally don't look at - or for - text messages) - my card had been blocked from further usage as of last night.
  3. I want to know what you guys think... So, I drive 500 miles/week with my work commute. Unfortunately, I'm still driving my cage while I re-build my '83 from my accident of a couple of months ago. Bummer - working on it every Saturday for 12+ hours each time. Anywho, For the past 4 months commuting in my cage, I've bought gas at one chevron station, and I try to get it at the same pump, and fill it the same way each time. I have consistently gotten 32mpg in my little Subaru Justy. Very consistent - rebuilt my Justy this past winter so everything is new. Last week, something was screwey with their credit card system - I pay at the pump at 4 to 5 in the morning - and I swiped my card 3 times, pre-approving 3 separate, $75 gas purchases (I didn't know it pre-approved for this much each time), but the pump said to see the cashier - too early, they weren't open. So, my wife calls me mid-morning at work freaking out because the Visa credit card fraud people are calling wanting personal info to verify that she is who she says she is so they can verify charges. She hangs up on them because she won't give personal info out over the phone & thinks maybe I'm spending money I don't have like crazy. So, I had gone to Maverick to get gas that morning after failing to get gas at Chevron, & since then - 3 times total. My gas mileage is 30 mpg EACH TIME at maverick all of a sudden. I just did some figuring & comparing of 5 Chevron fill-ups at about $2.94 ish/gallon, and the 3 Maverick fill-ups at $2.89ish/gallon. I've payed the same per fill-up per number of miles driven at both Maverick & Chevron (Wow, how did that happen? the Maverick gas is less per gallon!), but the Maverick fill-ups consistently say I filled up with more gas per miles driven than the Chevron fill-ups! This doesn't add up! nothing has changed except for where I'm getting gas, & I think that Maverick must be doing something fishy with their pumps. Doug
  4. Well after 3 weeks of fun & sun in FL I have to get back to work... Over the next 10 days I'll be cruisin the FL panhandle, AL, and GA working on ATMs at 70 Chevron stations... I'll be riding my RSMV and pulling my piggybacker trailer with the MAINEAC plates... So if you happen to see a big fat guy messing with the ATM at the local Chevron station stop by and say hello...
