  1. As some of you know, I have a problem,,,, I know what you are thinking, but this is a new one. I ride a 2014 Spyder and installed JMCB 2003 for a CB and intercom. The intercom works fine, and the CB broadcasts just fine. Now if we get 2 CBs close together I can hear the other, if they are more than 4ft apart I can't hear the other person. I can hear a tapping on their mic, but no voice comes through. Now hear is the next problem then. I contacted JM corp and they would like me to try to use one of their headsets. I use the Edsets with the proper cord, but they were wondering if I could try one of theirs. SO!!!! anybody in the area have a set they could lend me??
  2. Are there any members here that own a spyder? Tina and I are thinking of getting one and were wondering what peoples opinions were. So far the reviews are all pretty positive. We are heading to Pioneer Motorsports tomorrow to test drive one since they have been so good to us Ventureriders. Any opinions will be appreciated Thanks Mike and T
  3. Wolfie has just about got her spyder personalized.
  4. http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2012/04/brake-failure-spurs-recall-of-3000-can-am-spyder-bikes.html Consumer Reports Apr 16, 2012 11:30 AM Bombardier Recreational Products has recalled certain 2010 Can-Am Spyder models due to the potential for a complete brake failure. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 3,259 Can-Am Spyder RT roadsters from model year 2010 are recalled because a pin securing the brake pedal connecting rod could come loose and fall off without warning. BRP will notify owners this week and dealers will replace the brake pedal connecting rod free of charge. Owners may contact BRP at 1-888-638-5397 When we sampled the Can-Am Spyder, we found it bulky and reluctant to corner. Several of our riders felt they much prefer bikes with two wheels. However, the Can-Am Spyder does have antilock brakes, which is an important safety feature. See which other motorcycles and scooters have this life-saving technology.

    I'm Back

Just coming back after being off for a while. Making sure I got things set up right. Got myself a "bike" of my own now. Taking some getting used to, but at least it ain't a cage. It's a 2012 Can Am Spyder. White for now, but will be changing soon. Plus the Corbin seats and backrests are waiting to be installed. Just wanted to say HI Y'ALL!!!!
  6. Did the demo ride today on a Spyder Touring and was shocked and impressed. A lot nicer then I expected and well worth the price of a Wing. Thing is so comfortable and the clutch-less paddle shifting is great. Has more bells and whistles then you can imagine and all sorts of storage space. I got the adjustable on the fly suspension system set and I couldn't feel a bump. Before the ride I asked the rep about comments I heard that it was twitchy steering, it has power assisted fly- by- wire steering. He said the riders that felt the twitch was more the likely griping it to tight. Sure enough as soon as i took off I felt the twitchy steering and lighted my grip and all was fine after that. I started out downshifting my self but it will downshift for you and I started letting it do it and it worked great, thing runs 55 mph at 3200 RPM in 5th, I let it slow down to 35mph in 5th then gassed it and no bog at all. When you paddle shift you don't let off the gas at all and at one spot was able get it on and the thing is quick. Lot of thought has gone into this Spyder with the traction control, ABS and all the computers and all comes together real good. That trailer for it looks regular from the outside but when you open it up it's HUGE. The trailer has electric brakes and when you plug it into the Spyder it calculates the weight and adjusts the gas, shifting and brakes to accommodate the extra weight. The thing that would take time to get use to is cornering, gives you the feeling that it will tip over or throw you off, but it won't, just the lack of leaning gives you that feeling on the first few turns. If the Spyder Truck comes to your area do yourself a favor and go take a ride, there is a lot more to them that you might think. OH the stereo sounds great and it even come with adjustable hand warmers for the passenger. The touring and the Sport are as different as a RSV and a crouch rocket so if you rode one when they first came out there are a huge difference.
  7. The Spyder Truck they call it will be close to my area Friday-Sunday with 13 Spyder Roadsters for demo rides. Just signed up for 12:30 on Friday the 16th. Been wanting to ride one since they first came out, I think it's a guided group ride. We are supposed to see the sun and warm up again by Friday. Should be fun, they have a free pig roast Friday so Ride and eat, how can I go wrong.
  8. Was up in Racine WS for a family reunion over the 4th. My Cousin works for Bombardier and brought home a Spyder for us to ride. It was Billiard Red, with black accents. Ok, so the color alone makes me stand out. I was a little thrown off by the lack of a clutch and front brake levers. The shifting was done by a lever on your left thumb, forward for Up, backward for Down. Also, the creature would downshift automatically as you slowed down to a stoplight. It started easily enough, although there were some extra things to do, like set the brake, touch a button on the dash, reset the kill switch, and then turn the key. Riding it was easy. I don't like the position where you put your weight on your wrists, ala sport bikes. Wifey rode with me, and was unhappy with the forward sliding of the seat, causing her to lean on me a lot. Ha! I was not used to the passenger crashing into me, either. So here we are in Racine, Wisconsin, and where do my relatives, all riding ElectraGlides or RoadGlides, want to go? Why the Harley Dealership Gathering, of course! Now there were a lot of people there. I estimated we saw over 300+ Harleys outside and around the dealership. And I am on a Red Spyder. Oh boy. Needless to say, as I was being directed where to park, a LOT of people were watching us inch through the parkinglot. You know how you swing the bike into line with others when you park? Not quite as easy with two tires out in front of you. I had to use the Reverse to make it happen. Which was quite convenient. Had an issue getting off the Spyder. Apparently you have to set the emergency brake before you can pull the key out. Otherwise it beeps incessently. Would have been nice had my cousin told me about this "feature", heheh. But after several minutes of fumbling, we figured it out. Later after the Relatives bought their Genuine Harley Replacement Parts for the ride home, (Kidding!) I was left behind trying to back out of the parking lineup. My Wifey even took off on one of the ElectraGlides ("I am not riding that thing back" she said) As I puttered it through the mass of people, someone called out "Yeah, a Spyder! We make the Fuel Injectors for those things." Aha! That is why they are not dragging me off this strange 3-wheeler... they have family that actually works for the Can-Am plant! I was not in mortal danger! (Things would have been a LOT different at say, Strokers, in Dallas....just saying) Back to the ride. Don't throw rocks, but I was riding without a helmet. The tranny noise sounded like it was red-lining, but the tach said different. I didn't like the way you went into corners. Not leaning is just...wrong. It was very stable, and shifting was really effortless. The auto downshifting...well it was a little hard to get used to. I did find one thing that I absolutely did not like. I hit some gravel on the highway, and the front wheel slung it up around and it hit me on the arm/chest. Only happened once, but that was more than enough. THoughts: I would pass on getting a chance to ride them again. Its too easy. There is no effort, and its not a motorcycle. But if you are not comfortable riding on 2-wheels, then it would be a great way to go. I found it way more stable than the Harley Trike my MIL owned. If YOU get a chance to ride one, do so. My expressions are not doing it justice.
  9. It didnt take long for a company to manufacture and Alternative to a Can-Am Spyder What's your opinion on the photos below?
  10. Wife and I went to the Yamaha shop yesterday cause I knew they had a Spyder RT in the showroom. My wife is one that "said" she would NEVER ride a motorcycle though she rides with me now. She backed that up with I will NEVER drive one......well now that's changed too. She sat on the Spyder RT (touring model) and said with the biggest grin on her face "I want one". I am so proud!!!! If you have sat on the touring model, you should, they are VERY comfortable. 25K isn't in my budget right now, but when she finieshes nursing school, she's gonna get one. I also asked her about a Goldwing Trike and she said "No, it does't turn as many heads." I love my women and can't wait to look over at her on her new Spyder! (She said she would "let" me ride it some" Ben http://www.ultimatemotorcycling.com/files/2010_Can-Am_Spyder_RT_Roadster_Touring%202.jpg
  11. As an avid enthusiast who has logged over 250,000 miles in the seat , The year 2005 ended with me selling my 2004 White (trouble free) RSV and getting involved in the Can Am Spyder preproduction testing with BRP due to a long relationship I had with my local dealer who sells both Can Am and Yamaha (amongst everything else ) At the time I had purchased over 40 Can Am / BRP products over the years and have been featured a couple times on BRP's website as the number one BRP loyalist. I've been invited and toured the facilities in Valcourt Quebec and in general bled Yellow blood for those guys from a marketing standpoint. I then bought 2 Spyders in Early 2007 and my wife and I have spent the last two summer racking up alot of miles. What we have also racked up is a ton of nagging issues, from Dynamic power steering failures , to driveability issues to limp mode problems when the Gear position sensor decided to take a dump etc etc. My dealer and I (Pioneer Motorsport in Sardinia NY) basically helped BRP put together fixes that helped many Spyder owners and after missing the one week of vacation I could get in this crazy world this summer due to 2 failed DPS units on our Spyders , in the end we had a pretty good machine. It's a whole different riding experience that I won't get into here due to space but I was excited to see the 2010 Spyder RT be released 2 weeks ago and will begin delivery Late December here after the snow flies. I went and ordered my 2010 with the factory trailer package and it came in over $30,000. My neighbor runs the largest Can Am BRP website on the web and was chosen along with 4 other journalists to ride the RT for the next 90 days and show the world so to speak. Long story short , he dropped me an email when he picked it up in Quebec and said , sorry Brad , you can't ride it. He had asked BRP if I would be able to give it a spin and give my evaluation, and they said nope. I thought this odd due to my relationship and emailed their VP of Marketing who had set this all up and did my best sell job to get a ride around the block and got 3 sentences that were a blunt "no" and no apologies for all the past issues and oh by the way Demo rides should come to NY later this year or next year. Well , its the Spyder I had dreamt about and it was finally built exactly like I would have designed it as a incredible long haul touring machine. But in 12 hours , I came to my senses and pick up my new Red and Black RSV tomorrow morning at Pioneer. How a company could pick up and throw away a customer like that is just beyond me , but I am feeling absolutely thrilled about my choice to come back to the fold and I hope ya won't hold my past sins against me...
  12. What's everyone think of this machine? http://spyder.brp.com/en-US/
  13. Test drove one today, loved it. Whats everyone think of them. Will keep venture, spyder will get its share of use.
