    Glad I was wearing mine today, got cut off by an old guy that couldnt see over the wheel, and had to brake hard. Woulda been fine but there was a slippery manhole cover in my path and at about 10 or 15 mph i went down. My helmet has some nasty scatches and gouges, but i am sure happy I had it on. The only time i have not worn a helmet was in Cody this summer, and that was only because i had sunburnt my head and couldnt wear one..... Brian

    I am not gonna say whats right or not, but here is the way we ride in our local 042 chapter of the CMC. The animations are borrowed from the sunset hog group, but everyone in our chapter has seen it and rides it. i dont think the method is as important as having absolutely everyone thinking the same before you leave.     and take some foam outta the seat to lower you down. And good heavy thick soled boots help too. But to answer your question ive never heard of any lowering kit for the G1(83-93) Ventures. Brian

    the 85 has cruise and the choke lever ran horizontally , I think the 83s were with out cruise and the choke lever ran vertically. Also the helmet locks are under the trunk on my 85, but I dont like that it uses the same lock to lock the trunk in place as what you lock your helmet to, I am always afraid i will forget to double check that the trunk is locked down when I get the helmets off.     SO glad Ramona wasnt in the SUV when it got hit that would have really hurt her withthe shock. Looking at the pics on Facebook and its a nasty hit on her new SUV, it might be a tossup whether they will total it or not. I hope it all works out well for you guys brian

    I have those too, and I love them. I mounted them on the vertical pipe on the front of the crash bars to get more room to stretch out on. Then you can adjust these to all kinds of positions to make them work best for you.(hmmmm kinda sounds like an ex-girlfriend...) :rotfl: Brian

    I think most of it comes from only having a population roughly equal to California's (or about 10% of the US's pop figures) and then have to ship all over a country that is larger than the US. Plus there isnt the competitiveness in retail like there is in the US, I think theres an old boys club that seems to set prices. One would think with the NAFTA free trade agreement in place there shoudlnt be any customs and excise taxes on the stuff. Brian

    There is a rubber boot at the back of the engine with a ujoint that your driveshaft mates up with. I think your issue may be that your pinion developed some slack in the gearset and possibly have stripped the teeth and they occasionally are skipping under load. When mine went it kind of sounded like gears stripping and it would only do it under load at first, winthin a day or 2 it escalated to where all the teeth were stripped and broken and I had no forward motion at all. I have heard that it can be done if you catch it early by taking the back wheel out and removing the broken pinion gear, (but if the gear inside is broken it means the engine will have to come out.) I didnt do the mechanic work on my bike, Rocket in here was kind enough to find out what my bikes issue was and diagnosed it. I would just check inside the rubber boot for rotational free play and for ennd to end play. Maybe even put the bike on the center stand and spin the tire by hand while holding the ujoint to see how much free play. Brian Brian

    Umm That may not be 2nd gear..2nd usually just pops out and then wont stay in gear so you just shift from 1st to 3rd gear. @nd usually doesnt give any other noises, it just wont stay in gear. What youre describing kinda sounds like the middle gear assy going south. I would check the area just where the ujoint is and where the shaft exits the transmission. I would wiggle the shaft, check for end play and for too much free play. You may have the pinion gear gone inside the trans if it sounds like its coming from behind you.

    I have a goldwing vent in the sheild on my 85 and its a lot longer than a round hole, depending on placement, I think you would be fine to put in a coupl eof round vents. Brian

    I am in the middle of the great plains of Western Canada in Regina Saskatchewan, roughly an hours ride directly north of the Montana/North Dakota state line and Intl Border. I was in Florida last winter and our roads are exactly like theirs, flat and no curves except for most on or off ramps, unless its to go around a lake or a valley. Brian

    go to venturer.org and look up Nacho Altes, he lives in Spain. he has been a leading member of venturers for a long time, and helped with the design of this device.     i dont think there are too many units that interface with the handlebar unit on the Venture allowing complete control while its hidden in your side bag so you dont have to hide it everytime you park. The battery also charges as you drive, unlike most plugin units. The VentureMp3 seems to have made this a seamless install that will run like a factory unit from what I see in the ad. Brian
