  1. simple,,,, Tell your wife you need to buy some safety chrome for the top of your bags andthe bolts that go thru the lid to have a strip of velcro secured to the lid with the bolt head and a washer. Any excuse for safety chrome ya know.... Brian
  2. Yeah,... but ,,,,,,he took away all our fun thinking up silly answers.. Brian
  3. i would maybe call the police and say that you saw the guy in town so they could keep an eye open for him.... Brian
  4. Well if you were stranded and waiting on the side of the road there is a song about Willie Nelson that might work for you....to help pass the time waiting........ [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm34ZLlIvQg]Toby Keith I`ll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again - YouTube[/ame] Brian
  5. Its the only gas additive most of us have ever found that does what it says. I ride an 85 that wasnt desgned to run ethynol and it leaves a varnish in the carbs very quickly. Seafoam really does keep my bike running better, I can feel when its not running right and even missing and within a 100 miles of using seafoam my bike runs so much better. ( I do use 1/3 of a can in a half tank of gas when its running poorly). Seafoam is also a fuel stabilizer so you can store your bike using seafoam in the fuel and it starts right up after winter. 6. I thought the kickstand was down when I got there, but when looking at the first pic it is up......hmmmmm. My bike leans over a long way and is a pain to lift off the side stand, so I am thinking it was deliberate to tip over, or they were trying to move it out of my parking spot and it was too heavy. I wasnt going to report it, but you guys are right it should be reported, so I will make a trip to the station tomorrow. Brian
  7. We are all very happy to have been a part of your adventures, We all hope youve had a wonderful trip!!!!! brian
  8. I think Scotts info here on his website under Ipod hookups might help you out.....and give you a chuckle at the same time. Scott is our own Red Green and enjoys a life of fixing things. (he is a member here as Scotty) http://www.delusional-mechanic.com/ Brian
  9. i checked everything next morning when I had to lay on the ground to look...lol, I just realized when looking at the pics that I shoulda polished up the pipes and underside while it was down, too!.... Brian
  10. On Friday night i got a knock on my door about 1030 pm and its my neighbour asking me if I knew that my bike was tipped over against another neighbours truck. Of course the answer is NO, so I go have a look and I see my scoot tipped over the right side and the windshield is against the truck, the bike is flat on the ground with both wheels totally off the ground. I cant even get close to it to lift her up as the bike is right tight against the truck. I got get my neighbour and ask him to move his truck and we try not to damage anything any farther. I think I got lucky and the clearview windshield caught his tire first slowing the bike falling and the bike didnt actually contact any paint on the truck. I lifted the bike when the truck was moved and stood her up and have a look for damage, i have a couple of spots on the crash bars the size of quarters , a bit of rubbing on the fairing and the hiway peg, a broken but still useable brake lever, and a lot of scratches on the windshield from the truck wheel and tire. And yes, the backside of the crashbar did make a mark in the water pump pipe but it seems to be ok also. On Sat morning I buffed the windshield using Plexus and a soft cloth and kept at it for about 20 minutes, and the scatches almost have vanished, i was sure i was going to have to replace that shield because it was bent so far and scratched so badly. I am impressed with how durable that Clearview windshield is and how clear i got it with just a bit of buffing by hand. I am also real impressed with how well the G1's are built as I really dont have much in the way of real damage!! I would love to catch the guys that thought the city-fied version of cow tipping would be fun, to give the new boots I just bought a work out on their butts! Brian
  11. It does kinda look like youre not getting spark on the back. I wonder if its the coils that fire the back. Does it get more even if you leave it run at a higher rpm for a bit? Ive heard some weak coils may not run right at idle...but its all just a guess until an expert happens along... Brian
  12. I think 83 and 84 are different. My 85 has it under the turn switch and it rotates left to right and I think the MK2s are that way too Brian
  13. if the oil is overfilled, it might only pull it up into the airbox after a lengthy ride. If its one of your first longer rides since the oil change you wouldnt have noticed it before. Brian
  14. R ya Sure? you had that bottle of Crown Royal Black that was calling to you..... Brian
  15. Many thanks for the update. We have all been worried about David, ...but we also are concerned about you and Shannon and all the stress you are dealing with. Please keep in mind that there are many of us that can lend a hand or an ear if needed. Brian
  16. i have seen the Std Valks and I think most have footpegs, this one has floorboards and my legs are bent in a perfect 90degree, angle and I can move my foot back and forth on the boards a fair amount. On the 85 my legs are actually bent back a bit so i am thinking this will be a great seating position. But everyone needs what works for them and ive ridden bikes with the more forward controls and i find my tailbone and lower back get sore quickly as I must be kind of leaning back a bit or something. brian
  17. Mine didnt either until i put a new clutch switch in, my cruise was flaky also, and now its rock solid. Brian
  18. So far we are still in summer mode here , the forecast is telling us we should be sunnu and about 90f all week long. I am hoping for a long fall with temps like this. Brian
  19. I have a spare that I got when I bought a box of parts for my 85. Its identical to the one on my 85 except that the little emblem identifying it as a 1200 is gone. The chrome has some surface rust and can probably cleaned up pretty well with steel wool. Ive never really cleaned it up or even looked at it much as I already had one. Its yours if you want it, just pay for shipping But i have to warn you shipping could be 25 bucks as I live in Western Canada. Brian
  20. That sounds like what the PO said this one was getting, but he did say the big tank really does come in handy going into a strong wind...... Brian
  21. It has the stereo and intercom and all the other goodies. It also has a real alternator not a stator so you can add all the heated gear and sexy lights that you can find...lol The Interstates dod not come with cruise which is kind of strange, but its got a good type of throttle lock on it and audiovox sells an aftermarket cruise that can be installed on it fairly easily . (for someone else, I cant do it....lol) Brian
  22. It felt about the same as my 85 in width but its about 2in lower so it felt much better when stopped at a light. I liked the foot position better than the goldwing and it is just a bit more feet forward than my 85. I get more air between the lowers and fairing than I do with my 85 but today was a bit over 90f so it felt good. I couldnt beleive how the power was right there whenever i would twist, even if I cranked in 3rd gear at 30mph the thing literally jumped with no vibration or hesitatiing. Brian
  23. I agree with you, i like the wing drivetrain, but the look kinda leaves me cold. BUt I love the look of the Interstate, and with the hotter cam and a bit different carbs this thing really hauls!. Now just keeping my fingers crossed that his bank will clear the title when he tells them he is selling to reduce his payments. ( i think it shoudl be a formality, but banks are weird these days.....) Brian
  24. I took a 2001 Honda Valkyrie Interstate out for a ride this afternoon and was very impressed with the ride and the sheer power of the scoot.WOW, this blows my 85 outta the water! It was too quiet as i had trouble hearing it running at times but it seemed to fit me well and felt a lot lighter at low speeds than my 85 G1. I managed to talk him down to a lower price and he has to discuss it with his family and get it cleared off his loans to be free for sale. I should find out in the next day or so if the bike is going to be mine. Brian
  25. Thats what I was thinking for this area too, as i think i can get at least 4k for my 85 G1 so its not that big a jump. Brian
