  1. Why not try the Kuryakin longhorn offset pegs? I have them on my 85 and they are mounted as far forward as i can on the downward part of the crash bar and then with all of the adjustment and swivel these have you can find what works best for you. Ive attached a pic that shows where they are mounted, but i dont have one that shows the pegs themselves. Brian
  2. that explains so many things Rick......:rotf: Brian
  3. I know most of you wont beleive me but i used to have to use hair gel.(way back when I had enuff hair to do that) when it was bike season I always found I got the itch too and went to a dermatologist and she suggested that i was slightly allergic to the gel or the fragrances or colours in a shampoo, and as long as i didnt wear a helmet it didnt make enough contact with my scalp to cause an issue. When I would wear the helmet it forced the full time contact and the itch drove me crazy. I would suggest going without gel or hairspray for a day ride, and if she has been wearing the helmet without a dew rag , wear a fresh clean one on that day to avoid contact. In fact, i would suggest taking the helmet into the shower with you and use a non allergic shampoo like Johnsons baby shampoo and thouroughly scrub using your hands in the shower and rinse very well , allow to dry. Also use the baby shampoo instead of one with fragrances and colours in it on her hair and scalp to eliminate her regular shampoo as the culprit. Good luck, Brian
  4. I am under the understanding that SLime has a tendency to corrode Aluminum wheel parts, but I personally dont have confirmation of that. Ride On isnt sposed to do that and is supposed to remain fairly liquid where Slime gets real viscous and hard to remove on a tirechange. Brian
  5. Have you thought about stock Road KIng exhausts? There seem to be quite a few around and they seem to be cheap. SilvrT has them on his Midnight and i like the sound, the sound is a lot like the Jardines on my 85. I think Rick picked his up less than a hundred bucks, here is a thread on a couple of guys who did the mod. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=33572 Heres an ebay set for a hundred bucks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120462873792&viewitem= Brian
  6. I am sure there would be guys there willing to give a good looking lady a ride home if youre not able too......... brian:smile5:
  7. I think that to find out what you both are really headed for is ask her to take a real ride up to Nelson in 4 weeks. I am betting if she has a passport she will say yes to go with you before you have the words outta your mouth. Brian
  8. Rocket is right. i have had issues with the indicator switch, as mine had a hairline crack. I assumed the flicker and occasional not lighting up was the switch thats down low beside your left foot behind the gear cover. Wrong! I had the switch replaced this winter and it is better and doesnt sweat oil, the dashlight still occasionally flickers and doesnt always work exactly as it should. The connections were double checked at the indicator switch according to the mechanic working on my bike. I do have another Dash module that i was toying with swapping out, but it really isnt a huge deal as I have kinda learned that its just the way the bike runs. Brian
  9. Not neon colored bikes with low handlebars either from the sound of it.... Brian
  10. Ill take a set, no rush, let me know when to send money.... Brian
  11. I have 3 carb sets coming that I picked up on ebay last week and I could let you have one. They are supposed to be complete, but need some cleaning and possible rebuild etc as theyve been stored for a couple of yrs according to the ebay seller. They should be here in a week or so if you can wait. I cant guarantee shape or condition as i avnt seen them yet, here is the link to the ebay ad that I bought them from. go to ebay.com and just cut and paste the item number in. 250629439232 Brian

  14. Make sure you leave enuff time to get to Nelson BC on the July 1st weekend next year. (Just dont make a big mess on the parking lot like Mother did!!!) Brian

  16. Here is a Harly Video I stumbled on ...enjoy!!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izzlN2zC8PU]YouTube- Honest Harley Davidson Commercial[/ame] Brian This really is meant for fun for you guys that do own Harleys, i really dont trash them.......
  17. I have the progressive springs in the forks on my 85 G1 and never run any air in the front Forks now. The forks feel so much better now and then bike handles so much better. So you can go ahead and do the rebuild and take your time to find your class system and just add it when you get time.
  18. Now that is one gorgeous setup.....congrats !!! Brian
  19. this may work for ya, get an Sd card that will hold your win2k disk, copy it to the sd card, and then try this sd card adapter technique. It looks kinda odd, but if it works what the heck.... I would try using the existing other end in where the floppy ribbon cable is supposed to go in the main board instead of cutting the end off like it shows in the pics. http://uanr.com/sdfloppy/ Brian
  20. I dont know about that, i think that Freebird does have the whine............. and its all of us complaining about it.....:stickpoke::rotf: Brian
  21. It looks like a great idea, but the continent doesnt stop at the 49th parallel..... SNiff, Sniff, Brian
  22. Naw it has more of a manly look about it, lets call it Jose Brian I know it was bad, but sometimes ya gotta say it anyway.....lol
  23. It looks like you made a good choice! She looks like it was well looked after. The brakes on the early G1 bikes was a weak spot as I dont think youlll be able to lock either wheel up at any time. Some people change out the front forks and put on newer style calipers to get better braking. my brake lines are now changed to stainless steel braided and it made a huge difference to stopping plus it added a bleeder valve up by the triple tree to really make it possible to get all the air out of the lines. Brian
  24. i Was just thinking that might be a good thing to have a spare , does anyone know of an aftermarket for a G1 scoot? Brian
  25. It seems to be a learning thing with these G1 Scoots. I knew nothing about my 85 when I bought it and then the trans output shaft broke. With the help of everyone in here, and tons of it from Rocket (he basically rebuilt my bike from top to bottom when we had the engine out.) I now feel I have a pretty good handle on the basic stuff that it takes to keep these great machines in tip top shape. The steel brake lines made the biggest improvement to braking and made it easier to bleed also, by adding the bleeder valve up at the top of the triple tree. The cheapest upgrade that added the most amount of improvement was the progressive springs into the forks for about 70 bux. I would recommend www.partshark.com for parts as they have the parts fiches available online so u can lookup part numbers and figure things out, plus i find their prices pretty good usually. Buckeye also carries parts for these bikes as well. I also know that if you need a hint on how to proceed with something, Rocket would welcome an email from you and a chance to help you get your issues resolved. Brian
