Awesome news for you two,,,,, I was worried there'd be no more cheese cake in our future,,,, now I can start hoping again. As Job once said, about 3000 years ago: The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh, but blessed be the Name of the Lord for he giveth again. Hope we don't need Swifty to translate that. Carl

In answer to being open on Sundays?????? maybe it's that the metric dealers don't need to be open because everybody's out riding and wouldn't come in anyways, I mean if you enjoy the riding, why stop???

Steering Head Bearing Nut Wrench (Fork Wrench) Shipping
Marcarl replied to dingy's topic in Watering Hole
Got mine last week,,, it made good time. What I have figured out is this: if you ship from the States to Canada, ship the first of the week, that way the package moves right through customs. If you ship the end of the week, it gets buried over the weekend and then it takes time to uncover it, so it's Wednesday before it moves on again. Just my experience. Carl -
Don't want to steal this thread, but that is the main reason I don't bother with NHL. What we seen at the Olimpics was hockey, and that I enjoy, those boys, and girls, were out to win a game or two, they played their hearts out, played together, made a team, fell apart and regrouped, tried, tried and tried again but didn't give up. Got hot and sweaty, tired and sore, but didn't go blaming it on some else, just took it in stride and headed for METAL. Thanks all you players for a great nail-biter.

Weird rear tire wear
Marcarl replied to jimmyenglish's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
A lot of side wind perhaps? Check your rear wheel bearings to make sure they are tight, and your swing arm bearing points. You may have it right with it being a cheap tire, but I would would look elsewhere first and as last resort blame the tire. Note: Being cheap on tires sometimes would dictate that you spend the most amount of money on one. Not neccessarily though, sometimes cheap does well and lasts a long time, but generally speaking, there is a reason for 'cheap', such as: short tread life, unexpected early failure, poor grip, bad balance,,,,,, Some of these could become expensive when it comes to scoot repairs, or maybe even body repairs to the human rider. just my thoughts. -
See,,,,,,,told you so,,,,,,,,,thanks you Yanks, it was a pleasure,,,, glad we're so close,,, in more ways than one.

Some people get their senses when they're born, some others get it a bit later, for some it takes a lifetime, others get it then loose it. Let's see which you have gone through. First a 1st gen,,, yep I really thought you were in the right court, then you dared riding a 2nd gen and found out that things aren't as smooth some days as some others, then you got this trail thing and now you GOT A WHAT????????????????? . . . . . . . . . . . Congrats, it looks real good,,,, and we do go to Ottawa on occasion. What are you thinking?

Just don't go kickin around afterwards, could be a little more painful,,,, I'd say the bike is probably the safest thing to do, but then I'm no doctor, and I'm guessing your doctor is not a rider.

Take it from the experienced. just leave that stuff there and by June it'll all be gone by it's own self.

Be sure to mount your lights at least 16" above the ground, otherwise they WILL shine in the oncoming drivers eyes. I also crisscross mine to give a better light pattern, and then I do the night time trick.

Questions for anyone who is a federal contractor
Marcarl replied to Bigfoot's topic in Watering Hole
I'm not from your area, or even your country, but knowing what I know from Canada, hire someone who is a good book-keeper, maybe even aa accountant. Do this right away so that they can advise you in how to properly set up your books, what to buy and when to buy, what you can claim and what you can't, and where and how to allocate in the books. It can make a significant tax issue if it's not doen right, and can save on taxes if executed properly. JMT Carl -
It has a lot to do with what you want out of a scoot, once you get used to one and adapt to it, how the two units marry together (you and the scoot), condition of the suspension, steering, engine tuning, tires and pressures, weight distribution and of course the most important part,,,,,,, the color. If it ain't brown, it's not fast,,,enough.

Oldest & YOungest: WHO WAS 77 YR OLD RIDER? Lost record. Help!
Marcarl replied to Zfrebird4's topic in Watering Hole
When I got old enough, my wife said, LET"S RIDE. That was 6 years ago. Well not quite that way, but almost. She's Queen Seat only, and 2 to 3 years behind me, depends on how close her birthday and presents are. I was 60 at one point, but now have to do math to get it right. Somewhere around 61 I believe. -
Spark Plug Removal???
Marcarl replied to Jason's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I use an air rachet to get them out, then I go to the fuel line and lastly tighten it with a hand rachet. I figure there is no harm in using the air rachet to get it out, but I would never use it to get it back in. IMPORTANT NOTE: after you break the socket loose, blow some high speed air into the socket area to remove any dirt that may have lodged there,,,, or maybe even a wayward screw,,,, don't ask how I remember this. -
The vaccum gauge gave you an indication of the amount of fuel you were using. The vaccum was taken directly from the intake manifold, and the more vaccum you could maintain the better for fuel. Some other brands also used vaccum for things such as windshield wipers and so it was kind of handie to have a visual on the available vaccum. These vehicles would have had a vaccum tank and so then the gauge was hooked to the tank. Let's see how right I am when some of the old gezzers jump in with all the real facts. Carl

A couple of thoughts for you. First, is the market for land situation. The heirs, who ever that might be, would most likely not be interested in land, but rather in cash, so they would not be interested in having a hunk of land dumped into their lap and then have to deal with selling it. As it is right now, it is 'sold' and they just have to wait for money,, that brings in item,, #2. The lawyer stands to make money on this deal as long as it is in motion. If you were to pay off the debt then he would be done and no more income for him, but if you negotiate a deal for a longer term mortgage, with the estate, then he has more work to do, the more years the better for him, so this might be a good deal for you in the end. Don't be afraid to push your weight around a bit, you have money invested and proof of that, so you are holding some cards,,,, not sure how good they are, but they are cards and can be used. Another thought would be that if they pushed you, to pay in full, and you can't or won't, then maybe they would have to 'buy' you out, so now they have to come up with cash before they sell, which they might not want to do, or can't do, either. The other place to check is the little hose at the bottom center of the rad. It can weep just a bit and not leak on the floor. Hard to discover, not a hard fix. Carl
