  1. Guess I need to bring the 83 to the Sask meet soon, so much for taking the 86 on that trip.
  2. Been busy down at Grandpagak's for the last week. I have stripped down my 83 VR, for a paint job. I figured, since it hasn't gone deer hunting for 4 years, it is about time to do it. Gary had offered to do the painting & figured on 3 days for the prep work. I pulled the plastic, pinstriping & had fun getting the pinstriping adhesive off. I also did repairs as needed with the plastex, prior to passing off to Gary, for his part. These pics are of the 2nd attempt, as there was a lot of fisheyes looking back after the 1st try. A bug also bit the farm, on the front fender this time. But it will be under the fork brace, so I will pick it out & most likely clean the bugs track from center & install as is. I did get extra paint, for any possible future work needed & I wanted it to be the same stuff. But here are some pics taken tonight, with more to follow later in the week.
  3. Sounds like the middle gear assy is pooched, from your description so far. If so, it engine pulling time, to dig into the tranny.
  4. You don't trust Yamaha's service specifications???
  5. Nope, I have a set for my 86 from Buckeye, waiting to be installed next month, after I get back to base & work. I am currently keeping an eye on the rooster, prior to Bubber geting here in a weeks time, for PIP.
  6. My shared page, never changes location. So if you haven't bookmarked it , search the threads for the meets I attended last year, to find the link.
  7. Yup, touring bikes & longer rides seem to go together........ :thumbsup2:
  8. Sure, your not related to Condor????
  9. 83 dosen't have that mode Jack, that is on later years. As for the clock problem listed, I haven't heard of this before.
  10. Sent some this morning. Maybe an aftermarkt TCI will help, after all, they are programable..... Most likely, he will be missing PIP. I am sure there will be many people, that will miss seeing him this year.
  11. Is the back portion of the car, covered in bees from a broken hive, or not???? Just seen a clip on the news, but didn't see in which state, that this happened. Saw the news clip again, it happened in NC. But I still prefer, all the previous responces, as your ice cream addiction is well known.
  12. :rotf::rotf::rotf: They had to call in a paddy wagon, as it has a large enough door, without him getting stuck part way through. Normal car is too cramped for him to nap in, after the ice cream feast.
  13. It was also last years, party central too.
  14. Sounds like the calipers, need to be torn apart, as pistons are sticking. At the very minimum, clean the pistons, the bores & replace seals. Also, clean any crud in the area too.
  15. Quick get the fire extingisher, or douse the head, in a bucket of ice cold water. I sense that smoke is starting to appear........
  16. What gives you the idea, that he had her trained, in the first place???? :rotf:
  17. A test bed, for hopping up a 1st gen Venture, that pre-dates the max & is the same basic motor.
  18. He can't, as I haven't delivered them to him yet.... Give him a week & half to get them. Things are going nuts at work & I still need to finish prepping for my trip.
  19. The Vacum line connects to #2 intake port & the unit is mounted beside the TCI. Possible disconnected boost sensor wiring, from the TCI R&R?????
  20. Sorry, I don't have a weird answer .... Yup locked with, or without park lights on, depending on switch position. With the 2nd gen, your key needs to be in to operate the 4 ways (unlike a 1st gen)... Heard of a 2nd gen stolen from an accident scene, while the owner was assisting at the scene.
  21. Remove the screws to look, but to do more, like repairs.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=51767 BTW this thread is just down the list, on the same page of active threads.
  22. As in depends, for something disposable.... I don't think he is going on, a mad dash cross country trip.
  23. The 2nd gens will last long enough, for a fork oil change??? :rotfl: Probably the same, as changing out the fork springs.
  24. Another possibility is #2 coil, as the tach gets its signal from it. It is acting up or the primary connections for it are loose / dirty. I have had similar, with a loose connection before.
  25. $3500. with the Corbon. I have the piece that came off the upper left & will use the plastex on it, while the fairing is off to get at the flex lines. As I don't have a lot of plastic work or re-paint to do, I gave him his minimum. He was the 2nd owner of the scoot & it was always shop serviced, while he had it. He wanted someone, that knows these bikes to have it & he is now bike shopping. The owner he got it from, put in a K&N filter, rivco spin on adapter, that I found so far.
