  3. Hi dave, whereabouts in Southern Pa are you, I am south of Reading. I just sold an 87, I think your best bet for parts is either the classifieds on this site, or Ebay, There are alot of guys with 1st gens on here, and a wealth of both knowledge and parts. Good luck with the re-build. Craig

  6. Well I got the call from my local dealer today, my clutch basket is in, they are going to install it next week. They never heard of this problem before, but when they called Yamaha to check on my questions, Yamaha agreed there was an issue and agreed to replace with the "I" basket. So far they have been great to deal with, hopefully I will feel the same way after they worked on the bike?? Let me know how yours works out. thanks Craig
  7. Got out yesterday afternoon for a few hrs, it hit 55deg. Today was pretty cold and cloudy, worked around the house.
  8. When I bought the 87VR it had that slow cranking issue, wanted to learn a little more about it, did a search, asked a question and Brad, gave me all the info I needed, I was hooked. craig

    Probably the Ultra Glide, I have looked at the Vision at 2 different bike shows, and it has some great features, but I am not ready for that look?? Dont think I ever will be:cool10:

  13. I get the large bottle, it usually lasts 2-3 years have never had a problem with it going bad, I have an 85 Suzuki I have had since new, never had carbs re-built and it starts and runs like a clock, I always use stabil when storing anything that burns gas. Craig
  14. Put the avons on mine, went with the smaller front, does handle nicer at slow speeds, I sure got that whine/chirp tho, glad to hear you lucked out, glad to hear you're back in the saddle. Craig
  15. Since they are lower in cost, and the article never mentions they are "genuine Star" access. Just seems to state they will match OEM I took for granted they are a knock off, or they are blems? I really dont know that they are, just seems funny they are so much cheaper??

  24. Just picked up my bike from local shop, charged me $130.00 labor to Install front and rear Avons, service the rear hub(grease) change oil and filter and change oil in rear Dif. and when I picked it up there wasnt a fingerprint on it, I thought that was a decent deal. Craig
  25. I have the Samsons on mine, they are pretty loud, they have a nice deep throaty sound on idle and low revs, but they get pretty loud if you crack it open. I will be at maint Day if you are interested in hearing them, alot louder than stock. I do like the looks though, guess they are starting to grow on me, mite keep em:cool10: Craig
