  1. Just to play devils advocate here. How far does your bike lean when parked on the side stand. If it is like mine it is very close to vertical and it does not take much to knock it over. Also since both stands are up maybe someone just went to sit on it and the weight got away from them. I'm NOT saying that it is OK for anyone to touch your bike. Just saying that it may not have been a malicious act. It could have fallen on its own.
  2. Too bad, I bet you have traded MY carbtune for some labor to replace the stator. Changing the stator is not a real hard job.
  3. Maybe its one of them newfangled stealth helies that don't exist..... It sure looks like someone made an effort at a feeble attempt to disguise the shape.
  4. I tried to use the rachet and screwdriver bit. That's when I found out the PO had stripped out the screw heads. I did manage to get the left screw out and then used a hacksaw blade to cut the right ear off. I relocated my TCI to the inside of the left faring next to the radio.
  5. Ahhhhh I see it now. 4,000 is more people than what I can handle all in one place. I was hoping this was more of a VR event, Not the whole world. I'll have to pass on the rally and just have Hot Sex at home.....
  6. The one thing that no one mentioned. Yes there is another drain plug. There is another sump under the tranny and the bottom screw of the middle gear cover, on the left side, is the drain plug for it. If you pull that screw you will get a little more oil out. that screw has a copper crush washer as a gasket that should be replaced after being removed. So if you want a lot of extra work, then pull the main drain plug with the bike level and drain the oil, remove the filter, then put the bike back on the side stand and pull the gearbox drain screw. It is only a few oz more oil that you will get out and it is in reality not worth the effort assuming that you are already adhering to a decent maintainance interval. The oil left behind should not be all that bad. If you are changing oil after some problem that caused contaminated oil, like a fried clutch, gas or coolant in the oil, then I would go the extra to drain the gearbox to get as much contaminant out as possible. How much oil goes back in will depend on if you have the stock filter or an after market spin on, and just how good of a job you did draining. I just aim for the center of the sight glass and that means that the correct amount of oil is in there, however much that might be. For me it is usually around 3.5 US quarts.
  7. Ya only need a calculator for that IF you went to collage.
  8. You mean I missed out on some Hot Sex..... I really like Hot Sex..... Dang, I knew I should have gone. Details........ This Davis Rally is not on the calendar..... Who, What, Where, When
  9. I think that change was made the day you turned OLD!!!!
  10. Oh sure!!! Now everyone is changing their user names? Now how are we supposed to figure out who is who? Did I just say WHO?
  11. I think I would just remove it. If it is just those 3 wires, they are probably power, ground, and the connection to sound the horn. It might just be a tilt switch that will sound the horn if the bike is moved. Just make sure that it does not have something like a starter interrupt that will disable your starter or ignition if you remove it.
  12. All I did on my 88 was the brush plate ground mod (or at least my version of it). I no longer have any starting issues cold or hot. I still want to do the 4AWG welding cable upgrade. When I had my starter out it was very clean inside and there was next to no wear at all on the com or the carbons. But then the bike only has 45K miles on it.
  13. I did not get moosed by Annie. She snuck right past my house without saying a word till after she was gone.
  14. They only do 2nd gen stuff. Must be the only ones slow enough to pose for a pic.......
  15. Look great. Sounds like good news that all is well. But what is that circlip laying on the ground under the side of the tranny?????? . . . . . . . .

Even if I had that wing strapped to my back, you aint gonna git me to jump off or out of a perfectly good aircraft. Nope not me...... Knowing what those engines are, and looking at the size of the fuel tanks, I would guess that he can get 7-10 minutes of power depending on throttle usage.
  17. I do my part. I have been stuffing prepaid return envelopes with garbage for many years. I usually have to tape the envelope shut cuz I pack in to much junk to be able to lick and seal the flap. With telemarketers it is almost always the challenge to see just how long I can keep them on the phone. I never forward junk emails. If it had a good joke in it, I might strip out the actual joke and start a new clean email and always strip out anything that resembles the part of "send this to 10 people or else".

There is a reason his flight suit is yellow......... The engines used are the same ones that are popular on radio control model jets. I have a jet with one of those engines in it. This guy is nuts. But then I do have my private pilots license and flying is a lot of fun.
  19. Sooooo......? How long till you do the whole faring in CF?
  20. If the rim was hotter than the tire then I would do some checking BEFORE a test ride without trailer. It sounds like some mechanical issue.
  21. My first guess is that it goes in the empty hole......... Good luck.
  22. Is it possible that the fuel pup is weak or dead and you are just running gravity feed. As the fuel level in the tank drops the fuel pressure and flow to the carbs would drop also.
  23. Tire temp will depend a lot on local conditions. If the air temp is around 100, and the sun is out, asphalt can get to over 150°F. Your tire will pick up that heat. The max temp that most people can keep their hand on for an extended period of time is 125°F. On the other hand, if you are riding 2 up and pulling a trailer and have the bags loaded, you are most likely over the max weight rating of an E3. You may want to experiment with pressure closer to the max pressure from the sidewall of the tire. Tires are rated for the max load at the max pressure. I was using info posted here. I run 42 in the rear, and notice the back end gets a little squirmy when the pressure drops down to the 30's. Lower pressure means more sidewall flexing which will make more heat.
  24. I just went thru it and it worked for me. I could have picked it up at the store a half mile away but nooooo, I had to pick one that was 50 miles away.....
  25. More training required...........
