Higher mileage scaring me? Should it?
Flyinfool replied to paai1993's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I also seem to be reading a lot of posts on the clutch slipping when you get on the gas hard in 4th or 5th. Fortunately there is a simple and inexpensive fix for this. -
The little earth does not always work. It just looks at the city name and then shows A city by that name. If you have a common city name that is used in a number of different states, there is a good chance it will show the wrong one. If you edit the city name in your profile to include the state, like in my case I list the city as "Cudahy, WI", both the city and state in the same box that is meant for just the city. This ensures that Google Maps will find the correct Cudahy. Then there are people that list there city with something clever like "On the beach", unless there is actually a city of that name that you live in, it will not help members find you. Which means that since I can not find you, my nice steaks or other home made treats looking for a grill to go on will just have to eaten by me, myself and I, and then the DQ coupons in my pocket will have to be enjoyed by just me. And yes I am always up to the task of eating a steak dinner for 2 all by myself.

Yup, I have done a LOT of wilderness camping in northern WI and the upper MI over the last 30 years. I have only seen the northern lights a few times. You need to get way north to see them reliably.

Your mean, just plain mean, But I will have to use that one on the grand kids........

That is exactly what I used on mine. It has only been since last February that I painted it but thereis no peeling or rust returning so far. Since my Markland hitch parts were very rust when I started, I first scraped off all of the loose rust and paint with a wire wheel in a drill and then I used the Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer.

I almost got my first deer of the season this morning. I was on my way to work heading down the highway, and there was a car stopped at the stop sign waiting for me and a few cars behind me to go by. As I was approaching the intersection the car starts beeping it horn like crazy. Of course when you are approaching an intersection and someone is beeping at you you are looking at them to figure out just what the problem is. That took my attention away from my normal scan and that is when 3 deer in single file showed up. They came running out into the road right in front of me from behind a bush and out of the rising sun, that was next to the cage at the intersection. With a good strong pucker, my brakes and dual Bad Boys all got a good workout. Those deer did not want anything to do with whatever was screaming at them and it was a$$holes and elbows as they scrambled to get out of my way. Then I had to get hard on the gas cuz the cage behind me was getting way to close way to fast. Had I come to a complete stop I don't think the cage could have stopped behind me. I did use some advise that I read somewhere that if it is a moving deer, to aim for the deer, cuz it will be somewhere else by the time you get there. It worked this time. After playing this back in my mind, and getting my own underwear extricated out of my backside where the pucker factor had sucked it up, watching those deer scramble on the pavement was pretty funny. My adrenalin is still way up there. If I had been in the truck I would have gotten at least one of them and been having fresh venison tenderloins for dinner tonight. Its always GMC deer season. I hate it when I have the wrong weapon for the job at hand.....

I know of a great old grain elevator that is probably getting used daily right now. But it would be a 2 or 3 day ride for me to get there on the bike and my trailer in not back together yet.

Brake cleaner will damage many (not all) plastics. Alcohol is safe on most (not all) plastics and will still cut any grease on the surfaces. When it comes to cleaners and plastic, always test a small inconspicuous spot first. I do not remember the P/N but the 3M trim tape that is grey in color with a red plastic release strip is the best. You can get it at most auto parts places.

Naaa.... You do not have to take it out of the box. Just plug it in, it will find its way out of the box..... The garage would be a good place to do this since it has good ventilation.........

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people on the road that have no business driving. From the daytime pics I thought that those were like a wrap around reflector with lights inside, if it is just an LED strip. I have 10 meters of LED strip in the basement looking for a place to go.

You need to measure again, the dimensions that you gave are mathematically impossible. If the sides are 18', 18', 40' and 40' then the diagonals must be 43' and 44' 8.5" or 43' 1.6" and 44' 7" But anyway you look at it, it is off by a lot. I do not know if that can be saved and still end up with a square garage. If the new contractor has to tear it out to start over I would defiantly be looking to take the first guy to court to recoup the damages.

It does not matter if you have a square or a rectangle, If the opposite sides are the same length, AND the diagonals are equal, then it is "square".

Like I said. Carl is just out to cause trouble..... He has explained why everyone but me is wrong. Way back on page one Carl said he did not know the answer, that is why he asked. So I am still sticking with my answer.:rasberry:

Those first 2 shots of your 84, is that the Markland backrest and the second 2 on the 88 are of the Ventureline?

I think Carl was just trying to cause trouble.........

Your right, that looks pretty small, you better make it bigger.........

Help-valve shim tool
Flyinfool replied to dug050's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
FYI I have neither forgotten about nor given up on the valve shim tool. This summer has just been nuts between working 3 jobs and Erikas medical issues that are still hanging around, and actually getting in a few good long (for me) rides. From the 2 heads that I have I was able to pull out and replace all of the shims, several times each, without breaking the original unmodified tool. I am still not sure why the one I sent Randy broke right away. Those shims are sneaky, one of them hit the floor and has not been seen since, dang gremlins must have ate it. The heads that I got did allow me to make some changes to the tool to make it a lot stronger. There is room in the heads to almost double the metal thickness in the area where the tool broke. I can modify what I already have made to the new specs. Once I decide that the new tool will be fine I still have all of the fixtures to "crank" them out. Making these tools is going to end up waiting for the end of the riding season before I get time to work on it some more. I have a big laundry list of projects for the bike for this winter. I will have to pick which ones will not likely get done. Jeff -
Sure, Giver her a quart of brandy. It might be fun..... But since she don't like the stuff, she would give it to me cuz I do like the stuff, But I don't think a quart of brandy is enough to make you look that good to me.......... No problem, You need a much bigger match to get a fire lit under me.......
