You guys must be sleeping. AGAIN. That little globe has been there for 3 whole days already. The only catch is that it will occasionally fine the right city name, but in the wrong state.

plastic shroud near radiator
Flyinfool replied to yamtom's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I think that the biggest thing that that plastic plat does is to help keep engine heat down below you. But since you have all of the other panels off that used to hold the heat away from you it might not make much of a difference if one more piece is missing. That part MAY also help to keep the TCI less wet. I have relocated my TCI to inside of the left faring with the radio where it will now stay nice and dry. -
I have to power up a curb to get into the shed, It is much easier to push it backwards down the curb and then up the hill. All of this exercise talk got me thinking again. I know that is dangerous. I used to play racquet ball 3 times a week in different leagues till I broke my foot 15 years ago, and just never got back into it. I was riding past the racquet club last night and wondering if I am still capable of playing maybe once a week. I used to be fairly good at it. It would give me an excuse to run without someone having to be on the verge of dieing.
-
The only time I run anymore is when it is a matter of life and death. The people that know me also know that if you see me running, don't ask questions or even bother to look around, just try to keep up cuz something bad is near. Where I work I have one test lab on the 4th floor and one in the basement and my office is on the 3rd floor. I do a lot of laps between the two labs and always take the stairs. The only time I use the elevator is when moving a large piece of equipment. There are 22 steps per floor. That is the bulk of my activity. My other workout is every morning pushing my 1st gen backwards up a grass hill to get it out of the shed.

But I'll bet that ALL of the moderators are keeping a close eye on this one with one finger on the trigger so to speak..... Unfortunately not all threads stay this civil.

I had a friend that ran an internet sales company. He finally made the decision to stop shipping to Canada due to issues with packages not making it to the final destination and then he had to eat the cost of the lost product. He determined that with the losses figured in that it was costing him money to have customers in Canada. It was not every package that had an issue but he said that about 5% of the packages that he sent to Canada never made it. His margins could not cover that much loss. the insurance offered by the shippers is scam at best. Very hard to recover any losses.

Now I know why it costs so much..

That looks like way to much work for a Sunday afternoon...... What are you going to use to keep the aluminum from oxidizing? -
He is no good at all. He didn't even get a single cone. I'll bet I could have gotten at least half of them down. I view it like golf, I'm gonna get my moneys worth out of the course...... Oh by the way I think this is the third time this has been posted (that I know of). It is still cool to watch though.

On the local news this morning they reported that last night there was a bike on I94 doing 150+. After his arrest he said he was in a hurry because he was late for a date. I guess he missed that date altogether by the time he gets out of jail. Over the years I have found that going slower often gets me there fastest.
-
It sure looked like they were going faster than what would normally be 1st or 2nd gear. He may have short shifted and ended up between gears like I do all of the time.

Bad grounds can make all kinds of weird things happen, as the power tries to find other ways to ground thru other circuits.

Are the new added lights made to be dual intensity for brake and running (there will be 3 wires per light) or are you just making them do that? If they are made to be dual intensity, then go thru all of your wiring again, you have something miswired. If the new lights are truly in parallel with the existing lights then they will work the same as the existing. Post some pics of your setup, that may help us spot the issue.

Life span of a spark plug?

When I click on the link for Condor it does a google search for Carmichael and gives me the full name, address and phone No of everyone in my area named Carmichael. If I add the ", CA" on the end then it finds Carmichael, CA. Hmmmmm.... More experimenting/playing is in order. Edit: After playing around some I have determined that the new link just takes whatever the person has listed for a city and plugs it into Google maps. If the city is a persons name it will search out every person with that name, if it is a city that is used in more than one state then it picks one to display, not always the right one. I found a number of people that came up in the wrong state or just had dozens of hit across the whole USA and Canada. So it is not just picking on Condor living in Carmichael. It is simply finding all of the Carmichael's starting with those closest to your location. Don You nailed this one so fast and just what I was thinking of, I hate to ask for more, BUT, is it possible to have this link read the state to append after the city name?

In the upper right corner of every post there is the flags for country and state, and above that the name of the members city. Is it possible to make the city name a link that will open Mapquest or Google earth to make it quick and easy to find approximately where someone lives? This feature is on several other websites that I frequent and I find it handy. Most of us do not live in major cities that everyone knows.

Electrical performance 1985 Venture
Flyinfool replied to smegsjr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
13.8V @ 3000 is right where it is supposed to be. I would look for some dirty/corroded connections in the lighting circuits. The stock headlights on these bikes are awful, is it really dim or just needs more light output? How slow is slow for the turn signals? -
MY DOG http://us.f1614.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f935928%5fAPfTi2IAASTaTkflzAD1SkSaLx8&pid=2&fid=Inbox&inline=1 It's just dawned on me!! My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day. He has his food prepared for him. He can eat whenever he wants. His meals are provided at no cost to him. He visits the Dr. once a year for his checkup, and again during the year if any medical needs arise. For this he pays nothing and nothing is required of him. He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep. If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up. He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep. He receives these accommodations absolutely free. He is living like a King, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever. All of his costs are picked up by others who go out and earn a living every day. I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a brick ........ I think my dog is a member of Congress

My thought is that even if you have a jack and lug wrench packed in your trailer, they will be at the bottom of the pile. This means that you will have to unload most of the trailer just to get the jack and lug wrench out. As long as it is unloaded it is not that heavy to lift to get the wheel off. I am sure that if I took the lug nuts off first that I could lift the trailer and kick the tire off. To reinstall the tire you should be able to use the flat tire as a jack while you put on the spare. With my HF trailer, I store it standing on end, So I could also work on the tires with it stood up against a tree, road sign, big rock or whatever else was handy. All of this is assuming that you have no one around to help.

Decided to Rest in the middle of an Intersection
Flyinfool replied to BradT's topic in Watering Hole
I have heard that many times to. If you do not manage to make contact then it is you that lost control and crashed by over compensating for what the other driver did. With my truck I have no problem getting a piece of the bum, but I am not sure how to do that head on with a bike and still be able to ever tell my side of the story. -
I want to see him make a turn around a corner in the city. And with 25 people on board and only 125cc to get it going. While it is neat and an accomplishment, Before I would call it a motorcycle it has to be able to something more than just a straight line.
