kevin-vic-b.c. replied to verde7's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Most will respond with..... you can do it ! Just need a dry place and a few tools.... -
you know.... what the hell..... it reminds me of years ago when my dad was in hospital and not expected to make it home again..... he said to one of my brothers... get me out of this room for a bit.... so brother scooped him up into a wheel chair complete with IV pole and off they went out side to watch the bunnies run around the feilds behind the hospital..... staff got all pissy with brother and he turned ands said..... what is it going to do.... kill him..... Dad died 2 days later a very happy man after having some outside time and getting to hold his 24th grand child... my 2nd son.

Our local police force as decided on Victory brand for their new police motorcycles. We are unsure why they chose Victory so far as we do not have a dealer for them anywhere that does not require a 2 hour ferry ride and a good commute to get to. Victory had made the proposal with the offer to train a local dealership... who all bid against them... to service the new bikes. http://www.google.ca/imgres?q=victory+police+motorcycles&hl=en&biw=1162&bih=667&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=a8eusDhLnjViCM:&imgrefurl=http://www.policemotorunits.com/id272.html&docid=9HLl686JowN9EM&imgurl=http://www.policemotorunits.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/webassets/.pond/VictoryPMPhoto201.jpg.w560h420.jpg&w=560&h=420&ei=zw5tT75s0sqJAs6_hcAF&zoom=1

many medical groups including otemetric groups have been trying to have them taken off the market for years. many job sites have banned them from use. they are very dangerous.

I do say, if the dealer has it it is usualy not worth going on-line and ordering it. If we keep ording on-line more and more of these dealers will disapear then we will be at the mercey of these on-lines stores AND the curiours. They are the ones getting rich fast. I live in a small city and I have 2 Yamaha dealers I can shop at. Some love them some hate them, but when they have the part then the price is very close to the same as it coming from an on-line store .... and I have the part when I need it. As well we have at least 2 good shops we can get "jobber" or aftermaket parts from easily as well. I only had to wait 36 hours to be delievered my progressive spring set from one of them.

It looks good, I have seen something simular in the last few days but in the middle the frame froze and the rider and the car driver switched rides.... I hope it will bring the message needed out to everyone. see this one also:

Very nice, if I ever gey my 2nd Gen I will likely be looking for something like that.... the big question that seems to have been over looked is..... How much . And it does looked like a crap load of fun to strip the bike down to install it.

Political ......No....Funny......Yes...
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to DragonRider's topic in Jokes and Humor
As funny as it sounds.... after my father passed away over 20 years ago one of my older brothers moved back home as he was single to help keep mom company. He often left his boots on the porch. Moms friends would come over for a visit the old gals noticed the boots often and would say to mom, don't let him throw the old boots away, they wanted them for their porches. The only time mom ever felt the house had been opened when she was not home she found nothing missing..... My brother had left his local auxiliary police uniform hanging in the front hallway. -
Tent and awning as well as boat canvas guys use them. And just so you know if you leave your favorite beverage can in them on a hot summer day the can will explode and soak your saddle box with sticky mess..... you know how I know.

Yup something wrong with the world when in March the weather is better in Saskatchewan than in BC. Snow all around us today but cold and wet in Victoria. This sucks crappy weather and I am not working or riding.

I have used Yamaha Sports Plaza several times and have always been happy with their service and delivery times. Getting anything over the boarder is never easy anymore but Yamaha Sports Plaza seems to make it work well. :mo money: :mo money: :mo money: :mo money: :mo money: For items like tires and chains for my bikes I do prefer to shop localy. just me

aaahhhh it was just a gentle spring breeze blew through Victoria yesterday, a meare 90 km/h (60 mph)by my place. I live in one of the nice spots in the center of Victoria that seldom loses its power, 20 years and only 3 outages.... 1 was storm damage, 1 was car vs power pole and 1 was the substation had a fire..... Cool and sunny here today so I am sure I will find reason to ride, the one part of unemployment that is a bonus. Be careful out there and ride safe

I was "called to serve" once. I worked for a mom and pop operation so if I sat on a jury I was not going to get paid (wife 4 kids and a morgage at home). You bet I was thinking of all the lame excuses including the owner of the company gave me a letter telling the judge it was heating season and the company would never survive without one of its most valued employees. Day one... murder case... not too many of those around here then.... waited for my number to be called.... never did. Day 2 a local drug case.... nothing too abnormal around here. They had 6 jurors and 5 of us left in the room.... odds against. I was 2nd to last called. Judge asked if there was any reason I should not serve..... yes sir.... I have 3 close family members that are local LEO.... one is in local "street crimes" division...... back to work I go!

I have the same bike and have just replaced chain and sprockets, first time in 19,000 kilometers. I sent to the dealer that sold me the bike, a friend, and bought them from him so I got comparable product so it is not likely I will ever have to change them again. Just me.

Wife and I both have the HJC modular with sun visors. We consider them our "touring helmets" as we also have our Scala rider blue tooth intercom on mounted on them . We have HJC full face for every day use. I am as much about pricing as anyone but I do prefer to buy gear like helmets and gloves local. We have had a few local dealers close up just like I see south of me. I believe we need to help them stay in business. Yup the online stuff will keep your local guys honest but we need to support them for the long haul, even if it costs me $10.00. :mo money: :mo money:

I do know a fellow that his "hobby" if you will is taking part in those no purchae nessisary things and he and his wife enter all these contests,,, he has won a car, money, boats, trips and all kinds of junk that he as often as not just sells off. It is his hobby and it only costs him the time and a postage stamp.

Maybe it is the banks we use but I have had 2 recent card issues: One night wife and I sitting watching a movie when the phone rang... it was almost 10 pm and the only one that phones me at that time of night is Rocket ..... I answered and a voice stumbled with my wifes name asking if she was there.... now knowing it was not Rocket I assumed a telemarketter.... asked who was calling ... the voice returned with is this Kevin? Saying yes to that he explained he was from our banks Visa branch then he asked me if Lori was doing teleshopping at Home Depot in New York..... I said no she is watching a movie. Then he asked if we had paid our cable/internet bill this evenning on our credit card.... no we never do... He said he knew we never had in past and our credit cards were as of that moment cancilled. Got off the phone onto the computor and the bank site and he was right no credit cards existed in our name no more..... Work company card... 3 week old "chip" card. Tried to pay a suplier and it kept coming back declined..... The government pays their credit cards, I knew it was not over limit... phone the bank.... they asked if I had been shopping at a bed and bath chain store... I said no we do not have that outlet in our city.... card cancilled because of it before I knew it. The systems in place are pretty tight but yup you gotta keep track of your cards always. And keep changing the PIN numbers.

I say no... not able to flip. It is a "mid" efficiency unit. I could not even get a permit to install that here any more.... if I was trying. It is a garage furnace at best now. Any furnace requires some duct work installed on the outlet so even to install it in the garage you need to have a lower section of tin work made up so you do not burn it out very quickly. just my $.02.

sad news for sure..... but.... you know this place is like the Hotel California..... you can change bikes but you can never leave. We will always be here.... now try and sleep with your eyes closed ! hope we still see you areound here elcorbs.

Anybody experienced with the Hyosung gt650r Brand ?
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to KIC's topic in Watering Hole
I am not sure "rip off" is really the correct way of putting it. They made most of the parts that made up the 650 for suzuki along with parts for other bikes, yes I believe Harley was one of them. One day someone decided to put all those parts together in their own factory and produce/market a machine in their own name...... I have ridden one... I believe it was the 650, it was about 5 years ago..... I had nothing negative to say about it.... I do know they are an inexpensive bike, we have a dealer here and he sells a few, not many but he is out selling the Royale Enfield dealer locally so life is not too bad I guess.
